As of now, there is no proof or evidence, which claims it is true. Although there is a medical term for this called Phantosmia (an olfactory hallucination). 

 

There is no particular smell you need to worry about. Stroke can affect any part of your brain. It is possible that your sense of smell is affected.

Causes of stroke are:

  • Spinal stroke is caused when blood flow to spine is blocked.
  • Usually, it is a result of narrowing of blood vessels (arteries) which supply blood to the spinal cord.
  • Narrowing of blood vessels is called atherosclerosis (caused by building up of plaque).
  • Spinal Cord gets damages or even die because it doesn't receive enough nutrients, oxygen and blood.
