Established in 1924 by the late Dr. A.K. Kunhalu, one of Kerala's first qualified medical practitioners, the institution started as a small Nursing Home with inpatient facilities. Dr. Kunhalu's sons, Dr. K.P. Mohamed Babu and Dr. K.P. Abdul Majeed, joined the institution and continued their father's legacy.
- Today, the third generation of the Kunhalu family, Dr. Rafiq Mohamed and his wife, Dr. Shabnam Jameela Rafiq, are at the helm of the institution, supported by Dr. Arafat Muhammed Haris, a Consultant Radiologist. They have been authorized since 1984 and now offer online registration services for the convenience of the applicants.
