Questions & Answers on "Neurology" (603)

My grandfather age is 69 2 month before he had a second brain stroke after 1 year of first brain stroke and after 2 second he unable speaker, unable tongue and eat food and unable to open mouth we feed him by nv tube but now he is able to open mouth and able to move tongue slowly in forward direction but tongue is tilt left side suggest what to do now for fully recovery of tongue

Male | 69

Your grandfather might be experiencing tongue problems acquired after a recent stroke. This is the term for dysphagia, which is difficulty in swallowing and speaking. Amazingly, he can now open his mouth and move his tongue slowly. For him to make a full recovery, speech therapy might be useful. Exercises and techniques help in the aspect of toning control of the tongue and swallowing, adding to the general treatment of dysphagia.

Doctor, can I take 1500 mcg vitamin b12 supplements to increase my brain function as I am a student.

Female | 15

Taking 1500 mcg vitamin B12 supplements may not be required if you do not have a B12 deficiency. B12 deficiency symptoms can involve such matters as depression, dizziness, and memory loss. A blood test is a way to see your vitamin B12 levels. Only in case of a deficiency, the correct dose will be pointed out by your doctor.

What causes me to be dizzy and if I look at something it looks like it moving

Male | 54

Inner ear diseases, headaches and migraines, low blood pressure and some medications can cause dizziness or abnormal visual perceptions such as the illusion of movement. A neurologist should be consulted for the right diagnosis and treatment.

I am a 37 years old female. From the past few days I am feeling an ache inside the left side of my head at regular intervals. I also feel my head spinning and heavy quite often. Sometimes I feel cold and sometimes I sweat. I also feel my body weak quite often and sometimes feel I may fall. Sometimes I feel a pull on the backside of my head and that part paining, though it isn't a severe or constant pain. I am not able to tell this to my parents as they recently faced a huge tragedy and I don't get the courage to speak to them and give them more pain. Since the time I get up I look forward to going to sleep again as that's the only time I feel better and tension free. Is this a passing phase or serious health issue? Are these signs of brain inflammation/tumor? Will be grateful to you if you advice me what my next step should be.

Female | 37

As your symptoms indicate, you may be suffering from a migraine or tension headache. But one should not exclude the possibility of serious conditions. I suggest consulting a neurologist for further detailed diagnosis. While you wait, work on reducing your stress and have a good sleep at night. Recall that your health should be considered first and you might need medical attention if the situation requires so.

Having Constant headaches

Female | 17

Constant headaches are caused due to tension headaches, migraines, eye strain, lack of sleep etc. Consult with your doctor to determine the cause and develop treatment plan. In the meantime stay hydrated, get enough sleep, avoid triggers such as certain foods or activities, and take pain relievers as directed.

I have migraine aura i was concerned whether i have a blood clot in my head or not. Can u please help

Female | 21

Migraine aura involves visual disturbances before a headache, while a blood clot is a serious issue needing prompt attention. If you're worried about symptoms, talk to a neurologist to ensure an accurate diagnosis and proper care.

Please I'm 20 years old, please I've been experiencing severe dizziness these days and I don't know what is causing that. It actually started last 2 years but when it comes and I relax on bed it'll suddenly go itself but since Wednesday 5th June, 2025 till now it's not going no matter how long I rest it's still not going and I don't know the cause. Please is there anything I must know

Male | 20

Dizziness is often caused by things like not drinking enough water, having low blood sugar, problems with the inner ear, or even just feeling stressed out. It might be best if this has been happening for some time to go and see a doctor. The appointment would be with a healthcare provider who can know why you feel dizzy and will treat you.

I am 48 years old and suffering from carpal tunnel from past 6 years. Earlier problem was not so much but now I am feeling numbness in my right hand while writing or doing any particular work. Should I go for surgery? Is there any physiotherapy after surgery and after how long I can do writing work as I am a teacher

Female | 48

You should go for surgery if your symptoms are very severe and make it difficult for you to do your everyday activities. Yes, after surgery, physiotherapy is done for better flexibility and strength. When can you resume writing and other work depends on the type of surgery you had and other things. It is important to listen to your doctor and start writing only after consulting him.
