Patient Name- Abdul

Gender: Male

Country Origin: Bangladesh

Treatment: Stage 4 Lung Cancer

Doctor: Dr. Shivam Shingla

Hospital: SL Raheja Hospital, Mumbai

Symptoms: Breathing problems, last-stage lung cancer

Abdul is a 63-year-old male patient from Bangladesh. He was in the last stage of lung cancer and had many breathing problems. His son-in-law got in contact with ClinicSpots through some sources.

Let's find out about Abdul's journey and how ClinicSpots helped him!

After Abdul's son-in-law contacted our medical counselor, we got to know more about Abdul's condition. At first, the family was skeptical about coming to India. In all fairness, they wanted to see if it was worth coming to India for the treatment and if it was even possible to treat last-stage lung cancer symptoms.

Our medical counselor told them that as long as the person is breathing, treatment is possible. As it was a last-stage cancer case, the cure is unavailable, but we can increase the patient's lifespan under a doctor's observation.

It usually takes 24 to 48 hours to issue a VIL (Visa Invitation Letter). Still, because it was a critical case, with the help of SL Raheja Hospital, ClinicSpots provided the VIL in 2 to 3 hours. After that, the family was ready to get him to India for treatment..

How did Abdul get to India from Bangladesh with such a critical health condition?

When they left Bangladesh, Abdul's health condition was stable. But maybe due to anxiety, travel stress, or climate change, he got breathless when they landed in Mumbai. Our field executive picked Abdul and his family from the hospital and helped them settle in a hotel room.

But that night, Abdul was very restless and had severe breathing problems. So, we got in touch with the hospital and arranged a pickup from the hotel to the hospital, and he was admitted immediately.

After admitting Abdul to the hospital, he was kept on oxygen support and was stabilized in two days. Then Abdul met Dr. Shivam Shingla for an initial diagnosis. A few tests were done. As he was a lung cancer patient, there were previous reports of the condition from Bangladesh. We had told them to bring the reports to save time and money.

A few tests were performed to confirm that the patient does have stage 4 lung cancer. The problem with stage 4 lung cancer is that surgery cannot be achieved, so Abdul underwent chemotherapy sessions. The doctor advised six chemotherapy cycles.

Abdul stayed in SL Raheja Hospital for about two and a half months. After the first chemotherapy cycle, the artificial oxygen supply that he had to get was reduced.

We could see that Abdul's condition improved after the first cycle!

Abdul had a spark in him that he wanted to fight his condition and live. He was very hopeful and satisfied with his treatment. He liked the hospital and the staff a lot. Abdul's family visited India periodically, as they all had to maintain their lives in Bangladesh. Only his wife was staying in India with him. We also arranged for their accommodations (as per their budget) so they could live comfortably. As the family was comfortable, it was comforting to Abdul as well.

Before the treatment, Abdul could not move independently and needed assistance. But after the third chemotherapy cycle, Abdul could move on his own and take care of his chores without any help.

What happened after the third chemotherapy cycle? Continue reading to learn more.

After Abdul's third chemotherapy cycle, he returned to Bangladesh for the rest of his treatment. He wanted to stay in India to complete the treatment, but per the hospital policy, he could not stay for more than one and a half months. But still, we extended his stay for 30 days as per his request.

Abdul wanted to stay back in India, but his family was also facing issues with all the traveling back and forth. So he decided to only come for the chemo cycles instead of staying here.

He is pleased with the treatment, calls out a medical counselor whenever he comes to India for his treatment, and lets them know that he is doing well.

We are not saying that he is cured or anything. As we all know, there is no cure for the last stage of cancer. But we could manage the symptoms and issues Abdul had because of his cancer and help him in a way where he did not have to be dependent on anyone to move around.

We are happy that he trusted us to find him the best treatment, doctor, and hospital for him, and we are glad that we could help him in his journey as he continues to fight cancer.

Note: We respect our patient's privacy, so the name has been changed to maintain confidentiality.
