When you feel your heartbeat accelerating very quickly at night and it awakens you, it could be a condition that is referred to as night terrors or panic attacks. These may occasionally happen and make your heart throb for some moments. Stress, anxiety, or some of the recommended drugs may be the culprits. Meditation and deep breathing exercises can decrease the frequency of these events. If this is happening to you regularly, you should visit a cardiologist.
