Why do I have mild heartbeat-associated sternum pain?

I am a 23 year old male, with intermittent pain behind my sternum that causes mild discomfort in time with my heartbeat. It happens around every hour, but I don't notice anything worse happening to me. I've had this going for about two days now.

You might be suffering from a condition named costochondritis. The condition can occur when the cartilage in your rib cage gets inflamed causing pain behind the sternum which you may feel with your heartbeat. Usually, it is a mild pain that can be managed by getting rest, performing light exercises, and taking pain relief medications such as ibuprofen. If the pain doesn't go away or worsens, you should see your cardiologist for more tests.
