Could my 8-year-old's symptoms indicate zinc deficiency?
My son age is 8 but he is just 20 kg And also his nails always have white spots and the skin below the nails are always looks detached Is this deficiency of zinc Can you recommend any zinc syrup
General Physician
Answered on 19th Sept '24
The white spots on his nails and the skin under them looking detached could be signs of a zinc deficiency. These things can occur when our bodies don't get enough zinc. You can give him a syrup that contains zinc, but you must be cautious about the appropriate amount. Always stick to the recommended dose on the bottle. Eating foods like meat, nuts, and seeds will also further help his zinc levels. And it's always a good idea to check with a pediatrician if everything is fine.

my child is having crt 12.95 mg/L and pus cells in urinal microscopic exam 12-14/,hpf
Female | 9
A urinary tract infection may be causing your child's symptoms, based on the test results. Pain or discomfort during urination, frequent urges to pee, and feeling unwell are typical signs. The presence of pus cells and elevated CRT levels indicate an infection. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids and consult a pediatrician for antibiotic treatment, as that's usually recommended. Though short symptoms prevail, antibiotics will likely resolve the issue.

My daughter by name Bhuvi is 1year 10months old.She drinks only Cow’s milk. She doesn’t eat anything. She drinks around 1litre of milk every day and this has become her Main food.To make her eat food i used to give her variety of foods and give milk only two times during night for 12days.She used to eat very little and drink milk whatever I gave. But she became very weak and lost some weight. She had less energy. There was no improvement in eating food so what should I do now?
Female | 2
Weakness and weight loss in her mean that she is not doing well. Such a restricted diet has caused her to be deficient in necessary nutrients. You could support her in eating by simply making each meal more exciting for her through the introduction of bright, small, and delicious foods. If the issue persists, visiting a pediatrician would be beneficial for further evaluation and guidance.

Hi doctor. My baby gets cold often while ac is on but if I switch it off he sweats so much and never sleeps. He starts crying. I don’t know what to do . Please help. Thank you.
Male | 1
The situation with your baby seems to involve regulating body heat. With AC on, your little one feels cold. Without AC, they get sweaty. This happens because babies' sweat glands aren't fully developed yet. So their bodies struggle to control their temperature. To help, dress your baby in layers that are easy to remove. Keep the room around 68-72°F. A small fan can gently circulate air without making it too breezy or cold. These simple adjustments should help your baby stay comfortable and sleep soundly.

Male | 1.5
If you're concerned about your 1.5 year old son's genital development, it's essential to consult a pediatrician or pediatric urologist for an evaluation. Small or retracting testicles may be normal in some cases, but it's crucial to rule out conditions like undescended testicles or hernias.

Male | 7
It seems he may have a serious condition causing the fever and weakness. The glucose given by the doctor was likely to provide energy. Not eating for 7 days is quite concerning. It's important to take him back to the doctor for further evaluation and treatment. Meanwhile, ensure he stays hydrated and gets plenty of rest.

My daughter is 2 years old. she has cough and cold amd mild fever and i give her allegra and cherry cough both 3.5 ml and 2.5ml and mow I realise these both for cough and cold then i am worried now what to do
Female | 2
Cough, cold, and mild fever can be uncomfortable, especially for children. The common cold and flu are two main causes of cough and cold in kids. Both Allegra and cherry cough syrup can help treat these symptoms. However, it’s best to give only one medication that addresses the needed symptoms, which reduces the amount of medicine given to the child. Make sure she gets plenty of rest, drinks lots of fluids, and consider using a humidifier in her room to help relieve congestion. If her temperature doesn’t go down or if she seems to be in pain, it’s better to consult a pediatrician for proper advice.

Male | 12
Your son might face muscular weakness, making activities challenging. Weak muscles lack sufficient strength, often from lack of exercise or proper nutrition. However, a healthcare provider's guidance, exercises, and balanced diet can gradually improve muscle strength. Encourage active lifestyle and nutritious foods like fruits, veggies, and whole grains for muscle growth.

1 year and half baby girl always crossing her legs and wriggles her waist sympee
Female | 2
It is not uncommon for babies to move in various ways as they develop. Occasionally, babies may cross their legs and wiggle excessively. The reason for this is that they are usually discovering different body movements. If you have a healthy and happy baby, there should be no reason for you to be worried. Nevertheless, if you find any bizarre symptoms in your baby or your baby seems to be uncomfortable, consulting a pediatrician would be a great idea to be sure that everything is alright.

My Daughter is 2 years 47 days old, she has been struggling with stool passing from last one year. At time she can pass it without any struggle but at times she could not. We have consulted multiple doctors but couldn't get a permanent solution. Everytime we visit a new doctor she starts passing her stool easily for next one or two weeks, but after two weeks the prescribed medications from the doctor stops working and we had to go for another doctor or we have to use Suppositories. We have been struggling with this issue from almost a year and have been using Suppositories or visiting different doctor. Please suggest how this could be fixed, also let us know if this is a serious issue. Will this get fixed with passage of time as my daughter reaches the age of 4 or 5 years. Thank you
Female | 2 years 47 days
Your daughter seems to be going through a challenging phase where she sometimes struggles with passing stool. There could have been various reasons for this like diet, less water intake, or maybe some muscle problems. It is a good thing that you have been taking doctors' advice; however, it is essential to detect the root cause of the problem. You can try giving her fiber-rich foods, like fruits, and veggies, to her and ensure she drinks enough water. Keep in touch with your pediatrician to find the best way to take care of your daughter's discomfort.

My toddler has severe food allergies. How can I ensure he gets a balanced diet while avoiding allergens, and what are some safe, nutritious alternatives?
Female | 33
A diet that is complete and free from allergens is essential. Milk, eggs, soy, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, and shellfish are the most commonly found allergens. It is important to search for other alternatives that are safe and nutritious, such as fruit, vegetables, rice, quinoa, beans, and meats. A dietitian can support you in developing a customized meal plan to make sure your child gets all the necessary nutrients. It is also necessary to monitor the symptoms of rashes, stomachache, vomiting, and shortness of breath that might appear after consuming food. If you recognize any of these symptoms, the advice is to stop feeding them that food and to contact an allergist for further testing and evaluation.

My son is 1 he has been having diarrhoea but like small pieces off poo and wet but a lot redness around the bum it really hurts him
Male | 1
He may have loose, watery poo called diarrhea. His red bottom likely stems from irritation caused by frequent bathroom visits. Viruses or bad food can trigger this condition. Keep him hydrated with plenty of fluids like water or electrolyte drinks formulated for infants experiencing diarrhea. Apply diaper rash cream to soothe the redness. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a pediatrician right away for proper care advice.
