Questions & Answers on "Counselling Psychologist" (479)

I was wondering if I might have something such as DID, as I have been experiencing some symptoms. 1: I have auditory hallucinatons from time to time, like people talking, or whispering my name. 2: I cannot remeber most of my childhood at all. 3: I also talk to myself a lot, like I am a different person. 4: I have visual hallucinations sometimes, like shadows in the corner of my eye 5: Also have trouble focusing sometimes 6: very impulsive sometimes 7: I also daydream alot, and usually for 30 minutes + I and my sister was verbally abused from 2016 to 2022. It stopped in 2022 because I pointed it out. My ‘alters’ aren’t so complicated they are just different aspects of myself really. Most of the time to the extreme though. Like one is me but angry, sad, etc. Once I had a bit of a dissociative fugue, when I kind of just fazed out on the bus and I came to, on the bus but at a different point in the road, and I had no memory of what had happened.

Based on the symptoms, your problem may be Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Consulting with an experienced psychiatrist or clinical psychologist, especially in the field of DID, is crucial in diagnosing and planning personalized treatment.

I am 24 year old i am overthinking last 4 years nahi merko nind aati hai subha bhi nahi aati jaise ankh band karta dimag mein kuch na kuch chalta rehta alcohol drink karta hoon toh jayada karunga tab nind aati hai bina piye jab kam drink karunga nind nahi aati

Sometimes as a way of managing the condition, you come to the idea of alcohol consumption to enable you to have a good night's sleep. But alcohol can become a habit and become a more serious problem in the long run. Factors such as stress, anxiety, or overconsumption of alcohol, are the usual suspects of sleep problems and irritability. Besides, to avoid sleep disorders, you can reduce alcohol intake and apply meditation before bed. Another effective approach is physical activity and sleeping at fixed times. If your sleep disturbances continue, do not hesitate to report them to a specialist who will examine you properly and offer you the best treatment.

I haven't been feeling the effects of drugs like caffeine, codeine or nicotine for some time now and it's concerning me. I was put onto risperidone and propranolol for seven months before this started happening. Could you help me determine the cause?

Male | 20

It's true that these medications can sometimes influence your body's reaction to caffeine, codeine, or nicotine. There's a chance these drugs are altering your responses. The wisest step would be discussing your concerns with a healthcare professional. They'll help decide the ideal approach for your situation.
