What is moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma lung? What are the treatment options?
Answered on 23rd May '24
Non small cell lung Cancer (NSCLC) is one form of Lung Cancer It is subdivided in to Adenocarcinoma and Squamous cell carcinoma
Lung cancer can be well differentiated , moderately differentiated or poorly differentiated depending on the microscopic pattern
NSCLC irrespective of being adeno or squamous has propensity for metatstases
Treatment options include for early stage Surgery ( Lobectomy or Pneumonectomy ) depending on stage and extent of disease, Intermediate stage lung cancer is treated with Neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by Surgery or Radical chemo radiation depending on disease extent and Patient physiological condition There is an emerging role of Durvalumab in intermediate stage non resectable lesions
Advanced stage Patients are usually treated by palliative chemotherapy , targeted therapy and palliative care
Inspite of best of treatment, Lung cancer has dismal prognosis and the key to good outcome is early detection
