Questions & Answers on "Genetic Disorders" (209)

So my friend has her blood test done recently as she was having low fever, cough, shivers and vomitings. The report showed that she has 57.03 U/dl of CRP after the medication as well it continued to increase to 74.03 CRP although the symptoms such as fever, cough, shivers and vomitings have reduced just wanted to know if such levels of CRP are severe and life threatening or not cause we are worried

Female | 19

A high level of C-reactive protein (CRP) in the blood, even after medication, can be a sign of persistent inflammation or infection in the body. If not treated, this could become a danger. The good news, the symptoms have improved, but the increasing levels of CRP are a reason for concern, as they indicate that the problem needs to be investigated further by a doctor to determine the underlying cause and ensure appropriate treatment.

I get attacks of thirst (dry mouth included), dizzy and unwell followed by feeling tired and a headache later in the day. This happens weekly (week n half most) used to be once a month or so. Previous bloods showed low folic, elevated bilirubin and b12 but no proper answers or directions.

Male | 38

You may be dehydrated, which can cause a dry mouth, dizziness, and tiredness. Low folic acid and high bilirubin levels might also be factors. Try drinking more water and eating leafy greens and citrus fruits for folic acid. If symptoms persist, see a doctor for proper evaluation and treatment.

My patlet -154000 MPV -14.2 Is it ok

Male | 39

A platelet count below 150,000 is considered low. Platelets help the blood clot properly. Low levels can cause bruising easily, bleeding, or tiny red spots called petechiae. An MPV of 14.2 is slightly below normal too. This could happen due to infections, medications, or medical issues. It's crucial to talk to your doctor about these results. They'll check further and recommend the right treatment.

Stem cell transplant for sickling

Female | 13

When red blood cells change shape and get stuck in the body, sickling occurs, which causes pain and infections. It is due to an error in your genetic makeup that you were born with. By providing new cells that create healthy blood, a stem cell transplant may correct this. Eventually, such a therapy could lower the frequency of sickling and improve overall well-being.

I want to ask about how can hiv be transmitted

Male | 22

HIV is a virus that might be passed from one person to another via specific body fluids such as blood, sex organs secretions, the fluid of the vagina, as well as breast milk. It is primarily transmitted through unprotected sexual activity, sharing of needles as well as mother-to-child transmission during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding. Symptoms may not appear for some time but can manifest as flu-like sickness. Wearing condoms and not sharing needles are the biggest ways to fight HIV. If you are worried about it, it is wise to get tested.
