Knee replacement surgery is a type that replaces the weight-bearing surfaces of the knee joint to relieve pain and impairment. According to a report in the year 2010 and 2014, Turkey performed 283,400 primary and 9900 revision knee arthroplasty surgeries. And there has been a constant increase in numbers since then as the ratio of surgeries done for men and women is 33 for 67, and it is done mainly in the age group between 60-65.

Below we have listed the best orthopedists in Turkey.

Steps you should follow before the surgery:

  • You must be ready with the whole body examination report to ensure that you are in good health before undergoing the process like blood test, Diagnosis test, Allergy test, etc.
  • You should inform your doctor If you have a history of bleeding disorders or using any anticoagulant (blood-thinning) drugs, aspirin, or other blood-clotting medications, as you need to stop using them before the procedure.
  • You should tell your doctor if you are pregnant or suspect.
  • You will be required to rest for eight hours before the surgery.
  •   Must give a sedative to help you relax before the treatment.
  • Before surgery, visit a physical therapist to explore rehabilitation options.

Steps to be done after the procedure:

  •  Exercise your foot and ankle, as it will help to avoid swelling and blood clotting by increasing blood flow on leg muscles.
  • For further protection against swelling and clotting, blood thinners will be given and asked to wear a support hose or compression boots.
  • You are required to perform regular breathing exercises and try to increase your activity rate.
  •  A physical therapist is required to show you how to exercise your new knee.
  • Per instructions, exercise regularly, and strictly follow the diet for better recovery.

I have had patellar tendon repair surgery 3 weeks ago . I am now experiencing a burning sensation and tenderness does this mean the tendon has retorn or is this normal

Female | 26

It is a common issue among patients after the patellar tendon repair to have to deal with a burning sensation and tenderness. This may inflammation or irritation in the specific area of the operation as it is healing. These signs are normally a part of the healing process and are not the right indication of the recurrence of the tendon. To relieve the pain, you can wrap your leg with an elastic bandage and put it on the top of the pillows. Strictly follow your post-op care instructions and attend the follow-up appointments to let your doctor track your recovery.

Im a 17 yo im male my hand hurts so much when i touch a precised place in it i can actually see the bone our comparing to the other hand. Thanks

Male | 17

It looks like you may have broken your hand. A specific point may be very tender and the area can appear different from the other side. It is crucial to have an orthopedist look at this. They will confirm the diagnosis and give you the right treatment which may involve putting on a cast or splint so that the bone can heal properly. Make sure that it is checked as soon as possible so you can begin the recovery process.

I have a ganglion cyst on my wrist I'm suppose to have surgery on in the morning, the cyst disappeared 3 days ago. Should I still have the surgery or will they do the surgery still

Male | 37

Your ganglion cysts aren't often painful, though sometimes annoying or movement-limiting. Since yours vanished naturally, surgery might not be required anymore. However, inform your doctor about this development so they can reassess if the operation is still necessary or not.
