Could excess mucus be vincristine injection side effect?
My mother is blood cancer patient and now she has excess cough with mucus from 2 months . Some doctor said it’s a side effect of chemo medicines of vincristine injection
General Physician
Answered on 14th Dec '24
After chemotherapy, a cough that is accompanied by mucus may appear because our immune system is weakened, or it may be due to the damage of the respiratory system from treatments similar to vincristine. Make sure she stays well hydrated, and make her drink a lot of fluids. Also, a humidifier might be a good idea for relief. I suggest you talk with her oncologist and get it clear from him about these transitions and perhaps the altering of the therapeutic plan.

I am suffering from fever from the past four days. Yesterday, I got my blood test checked, which included CBC Report, CRP report, and dengue and malaria test. CBC report is normal Dengue and malaria test Both negative CRP 34.1 Very high Doctor prescribed me, some medicines Relating to fever and pain killer I am feeling night sweats.
Male | 28
You are experiencing a hard time caused by that fever and high CRP level. Night sweats are one way for your body to show that it is fighting an infection. A high CRP may be a sign of inflammation in your body. Your doctor prescribing you fever medicines and painkillers is the correct way. Do not forget to rest properly, drink plenty of fluids, and listen to your doctor's orders.

Im worried about my wbc since 2019 do i have cancer
Female | 31
It's understandable to feel concerned about your white blood cell counts. These cells play a crucial role in your immune system. Variations can occur due to infections, stress, or other benign conditions, rather than cancer. Common symptoms of concern include persistent fatigue, unexplained weight loss, and increased infections. However, these can also result from various non-cancerous health issues. I encourage you to discuss your worries with a hematologist who can provide tailored advice and may suggest blood tests for clarity.

Diagnosed with anemia. Temperature dropping rapidly. Weakness in body. Lack of will to do work. Need spontaneous suggestions regarding medical assistance.
Female | 49
If you suspect you might have anemia, regardless of your age, it's important to inform your doctor. Anemia occurs when your body lacks enough red blood cells, leading to symptoms like weakness, fatigue, and feeling cold. Iron deficiency or other underlying health issues can cause anemia. To address this, you may need to eat iron-rich foods like spinach, meat, and beans. Consult your doctor about iron supplements that can help boost your red blood cell count and energy levels.

Hello doctor I have a very challenging question here for you to help me with. Do you have to extend the duration of PEP for HIV prophylaxis to more days if the patient got another exposure on the 6th day while taking the regular 28 days dosage regimen. He had so far reached the 6th day of taking his PEP and got anothet exposure. So should we add more 6 days on top of the remaining 22 days. Thanks Laurence
Male | 26
If a person on HIV PEP experiences another exposure to the virus on the sixth day of treatment, it is of the utmost importance to consult a doctor. They will consider the situation at hand very carefully and consequently decide this case. Quite sometimes, they might find it adequate to prolong the treatment duration according to personal circumstances for optimal safety. Never forget that open and honest communication with your healthcare team is the crucial component of the best possible care.

Female | 20
You might have been affected by an infection with a virus that has in turn caused a blood infection which in turn may cause joint pains in your legs. Antibiotics can disrupt the equilibrium of our body's good bacteria, causing joint pain. For relief of the joint pains, you can try gently exercising, using heat or ice treatment, and taking a break. Stay well-hydrated and eat fresh and good foods to provide adequate support to your body during the healing process.

I'm depressed that is I'm hiv positive pls help me
Male | 19
If you have recently been diagnosed with HIV, it is quite normal to feel low. Symptoms of HIV include fever, sore throat, and being more tired than usual. The virus makes the immune system weaker, so the body cannot fight infections easily. Always, keep the thought in your mind that HIV is treatable with the help of medications. Medicines can indeed assist you in leading a healthy life. Discuss with your doctor initiating medication and going to support groups.

I'm an 18 year old female who thinks she may have Raynaud's? These are my symptoms. ### Raynaud’s Phenomenon: - **Fingers and Hands**: - Frequent color changes in response to cold, stress, or pressure: fingers turning white/yellow, blue/purple, and red during rewarming. - Numbness, pain, and stiffness, especially in cold water or when exposed to cold air. - Fingernails occasionally turn blue, particularly when nervous. - Fingers often go white under light pressure, but color returns after. - Red, painful, and numb fingers, especially when handling cold objects or after cold exposure. - Hands sometimes go pale/white in cold water, with visible blue veins. When they warm up it can feel tingly and intense heat and sometimes burning and uncomfortableness. - Ridges and a light white color underneath fingernails. - A small cut on your hand is taking longer than usual to heal. But cuts in general too. - **Feet and Toes**: - Feet often turn purple or blue when sitting still for long periods, especially without socks. - Numbness and coldness in feet, particularly when standing still or exposed to cold. - Toes sometimes appear weirdly purple/light blue/gray after cold exposure. - Difficulty standing and walking due to numbness and pain in feet, particularly in cold environments. - **General Cold Sensitivity**: - Need to wear multiple layers and use hot water bottles/heat packs to stay warm, especially at night or when sitting still. - Lips sometimes turn blue or darken when cold, especially during Raynaud’s attacks. - Occasional episodes of feeling cold despite being in a warm environment. - **Pain and Discomfort**: - Discomfort in hands and feet during cold exposure, sometimes making it difficult to perform tasks or move. ### Recent Observations: - **Improvement**: - Hands have been warmer than usual recently, with fewer Raynaud’s attacks. - **Persistent Issues**: - A cut on your hand that is slow to heal, potentially due to reduced blood circulation. - Ongoing need to protect hands and feet from cold to prevent Raynaud’s attacks.
Female | 18
It appears like you have Raynaud's Phenomenon. The condition makes your fingers and toes to change color, cause the cold and numb feeling, particularly, when you are exposed to cold or stress. This is due to blood vessels in your extremities overreacting to these triggers, thus, decreasing blood flow. The best way to do this is to wear warm clothes, gloves, and socks, and also avoid the cold that triggers such episodes.

Platelet count is 149, I know 150 is normal. Is 149 cause many problems with body?
Male | 18
The platelet count of 149 reveals that the patient is near the normal range, hence no need to panic most of the time. However, reduced platelet levels will make it hard for blood to clot and result in easy, unexplained bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums. Conditions, as being subjected to particular medications, infections, or autoimmune diseases, can be the most presumed causes. To help increase platelet count, it is advisable to take a healthy diet with an abundance of fruits and vegetables as its main constituents. Contact your hematologist for additional information.

I would like to have my blood test result be explained to me. Thank you
Female | 60
One of the crucial parts of your well-being is your capability to interpret blood analyses. Usually, these outcomes are the source of several pieces of information, among them vitamin amounts, the equilibrium of hormones, as well as signs of inflammation and infection. Disorders like chronic discomfort, tiredness, and weakness can be regarded as typical consequences of a certain hormonal imbalance. Discrepancies, on the other hand, might come from a wide range of reasons including poor nutrient intake through cardiology to some internal blockage. It’s the duty of the doctor to enumerate the results which patients require to be aware of and to advise them according to their particular situation.

Male | 31
If you have a morphology level of 3, it may mean that there is a slight imbalance in your body. This could lead to symptoms such as feeling tired and having difficulty concentrating. Some common reasons for this are an inadequate diet, lack of physical activity, or stress. You can address these issues by eating well-balanced meals regularly, engaging in regular physical exercise, and employing stress-relieving techniques like deep breathing or meditation.

I am 52 years old and after I received my blood test report it's microfilaria positive..would you please suggest few medicines?
Male | 52
Microfilaria are the tiny worms that transmit malaria by mosquito bites. Often, the signs of sickness are fever, skin itching, and fatigue. Skin itching, fever, and fatigue are some of the most common signs of the disease. The primary medicine used for the treatment of microfilaria is the drug diethylcarbamazine (DEC) or ivermectin. These drugs aid the body's worm destruction. However, I strongly advise you to consult a hematologist about the exact dosage and duration of treatment.

Hi! I’m 28 years old woman. After I lost a pregnancy at 6 weeks, last year in December, we decided to try again. Now, I’m pregnant again in 3 weeks and my doctor suggested a trombophilia test. The results came few minutes ago. Can you help with it? Thanks in advance! Mutation Factor 2 (G20210a, protrombina)->negative/negative Mutation Factor V Leiden (G1691A)->negative/negative Mutation MTHFR(C677T)->negative/negative Mutation MTHFR(A1298c)-> positive Homozigote/negative Detection gene PAI-1 (4g/5g) ->PAI-1 heterozigote 4g/5g / PAI-1 homozigote 5g/5g Mutation factor XIII -> positive heterozigote/negative
Female | 28
Factor 2 and Factor V Leiden tests were negative - that's good news. However, an MTHFR mutation was detected. This means your body may struggle to break down certain B vitamins. Additionally, the PAI-1 gene varies slightly, indicating potential differences in blood clotting.

Female | 28
Looking at the symptoms you've given, you are likely going through a urinary tract infection (UTI) and anemia. If you have a UTI, you may experience mild fever and body pain. Anemia can cause muscle weakness, hair loss, weight loss, and fatigue. To resolve these problems, you should drink plenty of water, eat iron-rich foods like spinach and beans, and rest enough. Talk to a urologist about the correct diagnosis and treatment.

Last year in my CBC lymphocyte was 16%. Is 16% lymphocyte means Hiv infection? At what level of lymphocyte doctor advise to do hiv test? Everything was normal except Lymphocyte.
Male | 41
Lymphocytes are a supportive element of the immune system and hence they can respond differently depending on various circumstances, such as stress, infections, or other health problems. Symptoms of an HIV infection may include a feeling of being tired all the time, losing weight with no obvious cause, or getting the same type of infection more than once, but these may not be the only markers of the virus. The specific lymphocyte percentage wherein automatic testing becomes necessary is non-existent; the requirement for such will vary based on your health condition and risk factors.
