It is often that brown discharge occurs after menstruation. Sometimes, the old blood takes time to come out of the body but if its flow is light and there is no pain or itches, then there's nothing much to worry about. Meanwhile, see a gynecologist whenever the discharge has a bad smell and you also feel pain, itching, or become inflamed.

My last LMP was on 13 sept 2024 after that from 10 October i have spotting and didn't stop.I have taken ocp for 2 years as i have pcos/pcod. Now my complete period as not coming only spotting is there .I did usg which was normal.now what to do
Female | 24
Spotting could be the result of many different things, one of which is hormonal imbalance which occurs when there is PCOS/PCOD. It is good that your ultrasound turned out to be normal, hence, some major problems are eliminated. Modification of your OCP is one of the strategies you can discuss with your gynecologist besides other treatment options to make your periods balanced.

I missed my period this month after had sex last month
Female | 21
You may have missed your period because of pregnancy if you had sex last month. Besides a missed period, other signs are nausea and tender breasts. But stress or hormone changes can make periods late too. To know for certain, take a pregnancy test at home. It's wise to talk to a gynecologist for advice and support about this matter.

The risk of pregnancy depends on factors such as when the intercourse happens and when you release the egg. But taking two doses of Plan B consecutively is not advisable. Please consult a gynecologist if you have any further concern

Late period, negative pregnancy test, could there be something else wrong?
Female | 23
Your hormones might be out of balance. Those problems can mess up your menstrual cycle. Late periods can happen due to thyroid issues too. Polycystic ovary syndrome is another possible cause. If your period stays away for a while, and other symptoms pop up, talk to your gynecologist to figure out the reason behind the delay.

What could cause a yeast infection to lead to bleeding
Female | 17
Yeast infections usually do not cause vaginal bleeding. In case you notice bleeding as well as other symptoms like itching, burning, or soreness, you should consult your gynecologist to do further evaluation. Other possible causes include other pre-existing conditions such as STIs, cervical dysplasia, or hormonal imbalance.

The brown discharge may signify old blood. This, mixed with cramps and bloating, could indicate hormonal shifts, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), or pregnancy. It's crucial to monitor your symptoms and consult a gynecologist for diagnosis and treatment.

Having periods after 11 days of intercourse... Any chance of pregnancy?
Female | 17
A woman could be pregnant if she gets a menstrual cycle after having sex for 11 days, but other times, this is not the reason behind it. You can see cramps in this regard or some bleeding that is not typical of a period. This may be due to the changes in your hormones, or there may be other issues that have lead to this. To diagnose the situation, it's advisable to take the pregnancy test a few weeks after the last time you had sex. Although it's not necessary to have periods after 11 days each month of the sexual act, it does occur sometimes, but it's not always indicative of pregnancy.

I had sex on third day of my periods with protection and my menstrual cycle is regular always ....so pregnancy happen??
Female | 21
Getting pregnant if you have sex during your period is very rare. Your period indicates the egg isn't present. If your cycle is regular, your chances are low. Even so, some exceptions exist. That's why protection matters every single time to keep pregnancy and STI risks away. If you experience unusual symptoms or feel concerned, speak with a gynecologist for personal suggestions.

35 Female with lower abdominal pains below the belly button, bilateral(on both the left and right sides) unilateral in nature(where one sided pain occurs). Sharp and pinpoint to same location for both left and right sides, directly across from each other. happening since October 2021, coincided with period first occurrence on right side 2021 thought it was a cyst at first. Went away until the second occurrence on June 19th, 2022(period cycle then was June 8th - 16th), right side. Went away and returned September 25th, 2022 on left side this time(period cycle for September 2022 was the 3rd through 11th), it occurred again in January 7th 2023 on the right side(period cycle for January 2023 a skipped period) at this point I still thought it was was cyst like pain or even ovulation pain bothering me,so I went to gynecologist, they thought it could be large intestine related due to the location of the pains. I got an ultrasound that came back normal in February of 2023. The same day i had the ultrasound, I went to medexpress to get my physical for my driver's permit, and they suggested asking my previous pcp for a ct scan, to check my appendix. It was hard to get into my previous pcp as I didn't see them in 3 years so I wasn't established. I reached out to the gynecologist I saw in january of 2023, in June 2023 when I had another occurrence of the pain, to see about getting a ct scan. It was approved by insurance, but ultimately denied under physician review( by the supervising gynecologist, and my previous pcp, because my ultrasound was normal). I then established care in December of 2023, with a new pcpx who is suspicious that my pains are coming from ibs mixed with spasms. I am taking dicyclomine 10 mg 4 times a day as needed, but it's not really doing anything when the pains occur. My pcp also changed my dicyclomine to a 45 day supply as I asked in a different question. I also met with a surgeon in March of 2024 due to a large gallstone, as my pcp said they were common in people my age. The surgeon gave a complete different answer than what I have been given before, and he thought my pains could be coming from endometriosis. The surgeon performed my cholecystectomy, on May 29th, and did a general exploration during it, but found no endometriosis. My pcp still suggested getting an evaluation for endometriosis just to know we didn't miss anything, as well as getting evaluated by a gastroenterologist. As my pains have still been continuing. What could these pains be coming from? I feel like I will be tossed back and forth between gynecology and gastroenterology, and I don't want that at all. Some helpful info: My new pcp also diagnosed me with pcos as I fit the criteria for it with my irregular period cycles, despite my bloodwork and ultrasound coming back normal. I also had the cbc; comprehensive metabolic panel; celiac; thyroid; A1C; ESR; and C-Reactive protein all tested in December of 2023 when I met with my new pcp. The only two that came back as abnormal were my ESR at 34 and C-Reactive protein at 29.7
Female | 35
You have been through a lot with your abdominal pains. Therefore, considering the normal ultrasound results and the new suspicion of endometriosis from the surgeon, your pain may be due to endometriosis, the condition wherein tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus that can result in cyclical sharp pelvic pain. It's okay to talk to a gynecologist about more tests and treatments. Besides, you might want to see a gastroenterologist, too, so as to eliminate the probability of any intestinal problems causing the symptoms you are having.

Having bleeding for three entire months could indicate something serious. It might happen because of changing hormone levels, problems with infections, or even growths called polyps. See a gynecologist. They'll find out the reason and give you the right fix for stopping the bleeding.

Last Tuesday I experienced some bleeding. It looked like pink/brown discharge and it was watery. It only lasted a day. Since Wednesday, I have experienced nausea/cramping on and off
Female | 19
It seems like implantation bleeding might be what happened to you. It is when a fertilized egg attaches to the uterus lining which causes a pink or brown discharge. Moreover, nausea and cramping can also be the earliest symptoms of pregnancy. You might think about taking a pregnancy test if the symptoms persist or you skip your period.

Hello I get my period after 10 days of ipill and after my periods 2 weeks later I get bleeding again and now my periods are skip of this month so I am pregnant or I have not done any intercourse after period
Female | 18
Bleeding can occur after taking emergency contraception like ipill. It messes with your cycle a bit. Stress, hormonal issues, or other factors can also lead to irregular bleeding. If you haven't had unprotected sex since your last period, pregnancy is unlikely. Monitor your symptoms, and if things don't improve or you're worried, visiting a gynecologist is wise.

I just had little spotting after taking misoprostol drugs yesterday and today no bleeding why??
Female | 22
You may see some spotting after you take misoprostol. This is common and normal. The drug can cause light bleeding. Do not worry if you do not see more bleeding after the spotting. The medicine may have already done its job. If you are not sure, it is best to speak with a gynecologist.
