Should I seek rabies treatment after dog bite?

Respected Dr When I was 15 years old Dog bitten me but I never taken any injection or treatment till today. Now I m 40 years old please suggest me.

Answered on 18th Feb '25

Since you experienced a dog bite at a young age without receiving treatment, it’s important to understand the potential risks, such as the possibility of rabies or infections. Symptoms may include fever, swelling, or pain at the bite site. I recommend scheduling an appointment with a physician for a thorough evaluation and guidance on any necessary vaccinations or treatments based on your history.

I tested positive for syphillis and begative for HIV. I’ve treated syphillis a week ago. i would want to know if I should retest for HIV or take PRePs for HIV.

Male | 27

When you have already been treated for syphilis then take a retest for HIV after six weeks. But PrEP alone is not enough. You still have to be safe while engaging in sexual intercourse.

Feet swollen on both feet

Female | 44

Swollen feet may signal a heart, liver or kidney problem. Prolonged sitting or standing may also cause swelling. Wearing compression socks, elevating feet, and regular exercise may help reduce swelling. Consult with a doctor if swelling persists or is accompanied by other symptoms.

Eye redness, Fever, cough, cold eye redness appeared today fever from 1 week

Male | 13

I think you might have a cold that’s making you cough and giving you red eyes. Having a fever for a whole week is a cause for concern. Sometimes red eyes are a sign of a cold virus. You should rest, drink fluids, and take something for the fever. If you don’t get better or your eyes get worse, it’s a good idea to see a doctor.

I m suffering from cold abscess right side neck recurring. I have already taken 6 months ATT medicine from 4 Agust 23 to 2 Feb 24 during medical treatment second episode on December 23 and 3rd episode mar 24 post stopping medicine of Att . At present now 4 rth episode on 15 Aug 24 . Every time operated and drained. My question ❓ 1 it is happening due to TB . 2 I take medicine that is right for me . 3 if it is right than why recurring. 4 every time all tests regarding tb negative 5 . Only first time at jun 23 AFB seen in test on basis my doctor recommends Att medicine to avoid further happening in life but I m not found that thing. 6 I start again Att course for treatment. Or any other things. Plz tell me

Female | 34

It sounds like you're dealing with frequent cold abscesses on your neck.

1. A recurring TB infection could be the cause, even if your tests are negative.
2. While ATT medicine is the correct treatment for TB, the infection may return if it isn't completely cleared.
3. Following the full ATT course as prescribed by your doctor gives you the best chance to eliminate TB bacteria and prevent further episodes.

It's important to stick to your medication and stay in close contact with your doctor for better management of the condition.

Hi I Need suggestion Yesterday mom had put rice for sun drying. monkey came and ate bit. so half part she threw and half today she washed and put for sun drying. my kid has eaten bit raw rice from it in noon. is it ok or should I get her some vaccine?

Female | 7

Consuming uncooked rice isn't ideal, but stay calm. It might have bacteria or toxins, leading to tummy troubles. Watch for signs like stomachache, throwing up, or loose poop. If any occur, consult a doctor for guidance. For now, ensure she drinks lots of water and relaxes.

I have a fistula how can I get rid of it She came back to me now a year later She tormented me for six years

Male | 45

Fistula surgeries are carried out by a proctologist or any physician in colorectal surgery. To start, you should call a specialist and visit for a diagnosis of your type of fistula. Missed therapy will lead to bacterial infections that can cause abscess and sepsis and all these could be fatal for the patient.

It seems you are experiencing prolonged fever, flu symptoms, difficulty in breathing, and a fast heart rate, along with extreme fatigue. These could be signs of a serious underlying condition, so it's essential not to delay. Please visit a physician or an internal medicine specialist as soon as possible for a proper diagnosis and treatment. Self-medication can be harmful in such cases.

I am suffering from fever previous 15 days

Male | 37

Fever lasting this long may indicate an underlying infection or other medical issues such as viral illnesses, bacterial infections, or inflammatory conditions. Common accompanying symptoms might include fatigue, chills, or body aches. It’s essential to monitor your temperature regularly and stay hydrated. Over-the-counter medications can help manage discomfort. However, given the duration of your symptoms, I strongly recommend scheduling an appointment with a healthcare professional. They can provide a comprehensive evaluation and appropriate treatment tailored to your specific needs.

Small white bump back side of the toung?

Male | 24

These are most likely to be either enlarged papillae or tonsilloliths. Enlarged papillae are a normal variant, whereas tonsilloliths are calcified deposits which can cause halitosis and discomfort. If you have any concerns or symptoms, it is advisable to visit an ENT specialist for an evaluation.
