Effective Solutions for Skin Irritation and Itches
Skin irritation and itches
Dermatologist
Answered on 24th July '24
Skin irritation, that itchy, red feeling can come from many sources. Dry skin is common, but also allergies and bug bites. Some skin conditions cause it too. Your skin may itch, turn red, and develop a rash. Cool showers soothe irritated skin, as do moisturizing creams. Avoid scratching though, it worsens irritation. If symptoms persist or worsen, see a dermatologist.

I've never had acne in my teenage years but suddenly I'm breaking out very often. What should I do?
Female | 28
It’s not strange for people to get acne as adults, so don’t worry too much if you’re affected. Hormonal changes, stress, diet or certain cosmetic applications may lead to sudden outbursts of the condition. Signs and symptoms of acne are red spots, blackheads and whiteheads. To deal with it, wash your face two times each day using a mild soap; avoid touching it too often and even consider using benzoyl peroxide/salicylic acid-containing products. If this fails consult a dermatologist.

HI, I am suffering from Balanitis - Infection of Penis and Foreskin
Male | 29
Balanitis means the penis, as well as the foreskin, gets infected. It can cause the skin to become red, sore, and itchy. This situation arises due to germs such as bacteria or fungi. Appropriate hygiene can prevent this; ensure the area is clean and dry. If it's giving you grief, you might need a dermatologist to prescribe some cream to help clear it up.

Hello, I’m 24 years old and would like to know if I have to be concerned using an aluminum based antiperspirant
Female | 24
It's natural to be anxious over the question of whether aluminum compounds used in antiperspirants are safe for your health. Some are jittery about the information they read which might suggest there is a health issue. However, the majority of studies confirm that there is no such evidence of the relationship between antiperspirants with aluminum and health risks. If you notice any itching, rash, or irritation, try switching to an aluminum-free option.

I am on Lamictal 100mg since last November The last 2weeks been having itchy skin no rash could this be the begging of Steven Johnson syndrome
Female | 68
Lamictal may cause itchy skin without any rash. Although rare, Stevens-Johnson syndrome is a concern. Fever, skin pain, and red or purple rash indicate SJS. If worried, talk to your doctor immediately. They'll determine if it's medication-related or not. Don't stop taking Lamictal before consulting your dermatologist.

My skin is very dull and i am having open pores near to the nose are on cheeks, skin texture is uneven.what can be possible reason for that
Female | 27
Dull, oily skin with large pores on the nose and cheeks is a common issue. This can result from excess oil production, genetics, or inadequate skin care. These factors often lead to rough patches and an uneven skin tone. To improve your skin, try using gentle cleansers, exfoliating regularly, and applying a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer. Additionally, staying hydrated is crucial. Open pores can get clogged with dirt and excess oil, but regular exfoliation can help keep them clear. Proper moisturizing prevents dryness without causing excess shine. With consistent care, smooth and evenly-toned skin is achievable.

Hello Doc, I am 23 (male) and I have a ringworm on my scalp for couple of years now, it's very difficult for me as people think im unhygienic but I wash my hair 2 times a day or more during summer. Please help me Doc
Male | 23
Ringworm is a common infection caused by a fungus that can result in red circular patches on the skin. The most effective method for treating this condition is by using antifungal shampoos or creams. Ensure that you keep your scalp clean and dry so as not to transmit it to anyone else by sharing hats or combs. If non-prescription medications fail to work, seek medical attention from a dermatologist.

Hello. Roughly one month ago I purchased a home wart removal kit to remove what appeared to be a benign wart on the back of my knee. The nozzle on this device broke during use, spraying an area roughly two inches in diameter on my skin with dimethyl ether. This caused a small superficial frostbite/burn, but didn't take care of the wart so I used another kit afterwards which used a swab rather than a nozzle. After using both of these, the area blistered. This blister quickly popped and fell off on its own after just a day, leaving an area of incredibly raw and bloody skin. I applied neosporin to this area regularly and kept it clean allowing it to heal. It's been a month now and while this area isn't entirely healed, it has protective skin on it now. My issue here is the area has a blotchy dark coloration now, looking almost like bruising. This seems odd to me given that it's been a month now, should I be worried about this coloration? There is no pain at the site, though the skin there is quite thin and rough.
Male | 32
Its natural to experience discoloration in skin especially after a blister or wound has occurred. color changes during the healing process. It could be due to hyperpigmentation which is the increased production of melanin in that area. This can result in a bruise-like appearance.

on 08/05/2024,suddenly i felt pain in my left breast. The pain went away after taking a pain killer. (hifenac sp).But after six days (on 14/052024)when I squeezed my breast,i found a pus like discharge from the same breast.next day i went to the doctor and i uploaded the prescription.now when i squeeze my breast i can see pus. i have two children.younger one is 4 year and 5 months old.no lump is felt.when will it be cured?should i stop squeezing breast?please help.
Female | 34
It seems like you are going through mastitis which is an infection in the breast tissue. The pus-like discharge is a sign of infection. Mastitis can result from bacteria entering the breast via a cracked nipple or blocked milk duct. It is important to keep on taking any prescribed antibiotics and not to squeeze the breast because it can make the infection worse. Ensure you feed and pump frequently in order to clear the infection. With proper treatment and rest, mastitis can generally be cured within a week.

You most likely are facing swelling of your hands that is induced by an allergy. Allergies develop when the body reacts to a certain stimulus that it doesn't like, which results in swelling. Redness, itching, or even puffiness are the possible symptoms you may get on your hands. The most common causes of allergies can be some foods, insect bites, or even contact with some things. To help with swelling, consider taking antihistamines and avoiding your allergy triggers.
