Why are my nails peeling and melting?
There is peeling of the skin on the nails of the hands and the nails are also melting slightly

Answered on 26th Nov '24
Skin peeling around the nails, and sometimes the actual nails can happen if hands are exposed to chemicals or water, frequently. Another possible reason is a lack of vitamins or a skin condition. To address this, just practice these things — avoid chemicals, wear gloves, eat healthy, and keep the skin of the hands moist. You can also consult a dermatologist for further treatments.

Increase in hair whitening at a young age. Pls suggest to stop it and recover it
Male | 18
It is natural for our hair to change color as we grow older. However, if you see many grey hairs appearing before time, it can be annoying. This may occur because of different factors like genetics, stress, or lack of some vitamins. To avoid getting more grey hair, try managing stress levels, eating well-balanced meals rich in essential nutrients, and using mild hair care products. If you feel concerned about this issue, consult a dermatologist.

I have a rash on my armpits and on both but it mainly itches on my left armpit and I’ve tried putting on antibiotics cream and Benadryl cream and it still itches and not getting better I haven’t been putting on deodorant either because of it
Female | 33
It seems to be a fungal infection in your left armpit. I suggest you see a dermatologist to look into the rash, and get a medication accordingly. Deodorant should also be avoided as it might make the situation worse.

I had shingles I believe a couple of weeks ago I was having all the symptoms and stuff I’m not sure that if it’s out my body or not I took the medicine that the doctor gave me and I thought I was doing better I had went to the pool with my fiancé and every since the pool my left breast were the shingles was I didn’t have the rash or anything but my left breast I have been still having the burning and pain and also feeling shortness of breath
Female | 32
You might still be experiencing symptoms from shingles. Even after taking medicine, the pain and burning can persist for some time. It's important to visit a dermatologist to check the condition and ensure it’s healing properly. If you’re feeling shortness of breath, it’s also a good idea to see a pulmonologist to rule out any other issues.

I got a bump on my finger, it's pretty large, redish in colour, round and it has a small black point in the middle, it doesn't hurt or itch but it looks concerning. I don't know exactly when it got there but it's been less than 2 months. When i asked Mr Google, it obviously showed me cancer-related links like always haha, i don't usually take Google seriously but the thing is cancer runs in my family and my grandma is a triple-cancer survivor, including skin cancer, i'm also a smoker and i enjoy tanning during the summer, which adds to the problem. Should i be concerned or is it just medical anxiety and it's only a normal bump?
Female | 19
The bump on your finger could be a common situation called a wart. Warts are mostly painless and can sometimes have a black dot in the center. They are due to a virus which is not usually dangerous. But, if you are in doubt, the best thing is to get a dermatologist to check it.

My mother and brother have chicken pox. It's been 4 days and taking medicine. I have had this disease before. Is there any possibility of more coming as I am taking care of them? My father is on medication after his stroke. So, can he take preventive medicine? Is there any use in consuming it for so many days? Since we are all in one house, there is a common toilet. Cleaned with Dettol after each use. Is there a problem with that?
Female | 45
It's so cool that you worry about your family's health. As you have already had chicken pox, you are in all probabilities immune to it. Your dad who is in the process of stroke recovery should not use any preventive medicines on his own without consulting with the doctor. It is a good thing to wash the toilet with Dettol to reduce the possibility of the germs spreading. Pure, practicing the supreme rudiments and caring for one another will be enough to get by!

Lumps on scrotum from 1-2 years
Male | 28
The reasons for this could be cysts, trapped hairs, and infections. The lumps may hurt, and feel swollen. Don't ignore it -and see a dermatologist. After checking, treatment might include medicine. Or even surgery, depending what's causing lumps.

I have very dark pigmentation around mouth and neck and i have darck circles which is black in color around eyes how tp3 get rid of this
Female | 23
You may have hyperpigmentation, a condition. This may lead to dark patches on the lips and neck and dark circles under the eyes. Mostly, it's because of being out in the sun for too long, hormones that change the appearance of your skin, or your genes. The following are good methods for managing this; you can use sunscreen, peel gently, and brighten lotions for your skin. You can visit a dermatologist for consultation and treatment.

Hi Doctor, I'm experiencing a recurring skin issue. It starts as a small red dot, which then develops into a sore, causing skin damage. The sore heals after 2-3 weeks, but instead of resolving, the condition spreads to a new location just above the previous sore.
Male | 24
You may have a skin condition known as impetigo. It is usually first seen as a red point and develops into an ulcer thereafter ten days or so, and is finally healed. It may also spread to other skin areas on the body. This is the result of bacteria entering the body through small cuts or sores. In a clean environment, and with the help of antibiotic ointment, the skin can be healed.

Itching only on left side particular side only
Female | 34
When the itching is only on one side of your body, it might mean that something is irritant your skin. Occasionally, allergies or dermatitis that is caused by eczema can be the reasons for that. Moreover, nerve disorders or infections may be the causes. Look if you have any rashes or skin discoloration. Try to refrain from scratching as it may cause an infection. The application of a light moisturizer or a calm cream can give some relief.

Hi doctors, My mother who is 50 yrs old is facing excessive sweating from 2 years, we hve checked her BP, sugar and thyroid which are normal, but I'm not understanding which doctor to consult regarding this excessive sweating.
Female | 50
Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, is annoying. The reasons for the sweating can be other than normal BP, sugar, and thyroid of your mother. The medications, menopause, stress, or health problems that are hidden might lead to such a situation. A dermatologist with a focus on skin problems will be the best choice. They can help pinpoint the cause of the sweating and recommend treatments.

I got the cut from the barber trimmer is it the chance of getting hiv virus from that trimmer ?
Male | 21
You are very unlikely to get HIV from a barber trimmer. HIV is not spread by inanimate objects like trimmers but through fluids that carry the virus, such as blood. Look for symptoms such as fever or maybe pimples but always keep in mind the probability of this happening is extremely low.

I am 19 years old mera lip pe ek green green mark h pta nhi kyu h pls dr.reply
Female | 19
The skin might have become green due to Pityriasis versicolor, a fungal infection. This occurs when the skin produces too much oil or sweat. Keep your skin dry and clean, and use antifungal creams if necessary. If that doesn’t help, it’d be best to consult a dematologist.

Small mark on tip of penis. Almost like a pimple, becomes inflamed sometimes and turns red.
Male | 16
It seems you might have an issue such as balanitis, a common and naturally occurring thing among men. It can be seen in a small mole-like structure on the tip of the penis that is occasionally pus-filled, and it could get inflamed and red. It could also be connected with the frequency of penis washing, or it could even be traced back to some personal hygiene habits or yet another significant thing like any irritability that might be caused by soap or disinfectant. Frequent washing and drying of the area are key to a better outcome. The application of mild soaps and the avoidance of harsh chemicals are also helpful strategies. Wearing comfortable, breathable clothes and underwear made of cotton is also good. Wear only loose-fitting clothing and wear underwear made of soft, comfy cotton. When all else fails after a week or two and the results don't get better, it is a good time to see a dermatologist, possibly for further evaluation or to control the underlying issue.

The smoothening change is temporary. Your natural hair will come back in time. Speeding up the growth of your natural hair is possible by using nourishing hair products and avoiding further chemical treatments. Be a little patient, and then your natural hair will come back.

Hello, I have redness on my nose, I would like to get rid of it, as its not the same colour and it looks ugly. I kinda know why its red. I had erythema multiforme, after someone drank from my water bottle and i got herpes simplex, i had red dots on my hand, knees, elbows, and one on my nosebridge now its gone, but ever since i have a discolored nose. The top where it connects to the forehead is white and below its a red colour, what can I do to get back the original colour of my nose, is there any medication that can help?
Male | 21
That redness on your nose might be leftover swelling. Don't worry though, with some gentle TLC, it should fade. Be sure to moisturize and use mild products. Staying out of harsh sunlight (and SPF!) will also keep discoloration away. It may take time, but your skin will heal.
