    b. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE): A specialised instrument extracts individual hair follicles from the donor area.
  • Creating the New Hairline: The surgeon will make tiny incisions along the desired new hairline in the recipient area. The angle and direction of these incisions are crucial to achieving a natural appearance.
  • Implantation: The harvested hair follicles are carefully placed into the recipient's incisions. The surgeon will strategically arrange the grafts to provide a natural hairline pattern, ensuring a natural and aesthetically pleasing result.

Will a hair transplant to lower the hairline prevent further hair loss?

A hair transplant to lower the hairline does not prevent further hair loss. The primary purpose of a hair transplant is to redistribute existing hair. The healthy hair follicles from one area of the scalp to another to create a more aesthetically pleasing hairline. While the transplanted hair is generally resistant to further hair loss, the surrounding, non-transplanted hair may continue to thin or fall out if genetically predisposed to hair loss.
If you are concerned about further hair loss after transplantation, then look for a comprehensive approach that may include the following:

  • Hair loss medications, such as minoxidil. It can help slow down or stabilize hair loss by addressing underlying factors like hormone-related hair loss (androgenetic alopecia). However, these medications may only work for some and have potential side effects.
  • Low-Level Laser Therapy stimulates hair follicles, potentially slowing hair loss and promoting hair regrowth.
  • PRP involves injecting a concentrated solution of your blood plasma into the scalp. It stimulates hair follicles and potentially slows down hair loss.
  • Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, managing stress, and having a balanced diet can contribute to overall hair health.
  • Consultation with a Specialist: If you are experiencing hair loss, it's crucial to consult with a hair loss specialist or dermatologist. They can assess your condition, discuss treatment options, and create a personalized plan tailored to your needs.

Hair fall in teen age almost more than 50% hair vanished from scalp. I have also genetic hair loss what should I do to prevent it.

Male | 18

Androgenetic alopecia, or genetic hair loss, can start as early as the teenage years. Key signs include excessive hair fall and a widening part. This happens because hair follicles shrink over time. To slow down hair loss and promote regrowth, you can use treatments like minoxidil (Rogaine) or finasteride (Propecia). Additionally, it's important to maintain a well-balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals essential for hair health.

At 6 months post hair transplant I was happy with the results. At 12 months likewise. Even at 20 months I was was happy. My transplanted hair was less curly. Now at 22 months I noticed that my hair has thinned out. I have been taking propecia and oral minoxidil from the second month post hair transplant 5 mg per day with the exception that I missed the 21st month. Is this thinning normal ?

Male | 63

Noticing thinning at 22 months can be concerning. The truth is, hair thinning can occur even if the patient is taking medications like propecia and minoxidil. This could be due to various reasons such as genetics, stress, or missed doses of medications you mentioned in the 21st month. Talk about it with your medical team to find some solutions.
