Questions & Answers on "Diet Counseling" (114)
I am underweight and have low iron i wanna improve it as due to it i frequently get sick easily like 2 or 3 in month I did reports for iron and hemoglobin Iron level is 74.4 and hemoglobin is 10.7 ( it droped it was nearly 14 ) And for my weight I am 38.60 and height is 5'2 feet

It's important to address your low weight and iron levels, as they can lead to symptoms like fatigue and frequent illnesses. Low iron often results from inadequate dietary intake or absorption issues. To improve your situation, focus on incorporating iron-rich foods such as leafy greens, legumes, lean meats, and fortified cereals into your meals. Pair these with vitamin C sources like citrus fruits to enhance absorption. Additionally, consider small, nutritious snacks to help increase your weight healthily. I recommend consulting a healthcare professional for personalized advice and potential supplementation to ensure a safe and effective approach.

Hello, I am 22 yrs old weighing 80 kgs and 178 cms tall. According to BMI and other measurements online I seem fit. I would actually like to know the diet and other instructions and nuances to live long and healthy life without any health issues. Thank You!!!
Male | 22
Your BMI is within the normal range, which is good. To maintain a healthy life, follow a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Regular exercise, staying hydrated, and getting enough sleep are also crucial. For personalized advice, I recommend consulting a dietitian or a nutritionist who can provide a tailored plan for your needs.

my mother had an MVR surgery in December 2020, at the time of discharge doctor told her to avoid green leafy vegetables, cabbage and tomatoes. After one year of periodically visiting our doctor told us the same thing but now it's been 2 years we didn't visit the doctor because of some financial issue. Now my mother's PT is 12.6 and INR is 2.8. Now can she eat leafy greens?
Female | 54
Dark leafy vegetables are high in vitamin K, which can affect blood thinners like warfarin. High PT and INR levels mean it is taking longer for the blood to clot, indicating a potential risk if the levels are too high. Despite their heart health benefits, Mom must avoid leafy greens for now. The best thing is to consult a dietician for personalized advice and guidance.

A few of the symptoms can be tiredness, frailness, or tingling in the hands and feet. This Vitamin B12-related disorder can happen when droplets are not enough into the diet or the body system is unable to absorb it. To combat this issue, you can introduce more foods rich in Vitamin B12 to your diet like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy. Besides, this you may include Vitamin B12 supplements for your well-being.

As a vegan, I'm concerned about getting enough vitamins and minerals, especially B12 and iron. What plant-based foods should I include in my diet to meet these needs?
Male | 29
Are you considering becoming vegan? If so, it's important to ensure you're getting enough vitamin B12. Some plant-based sources of B12 include fortified cereals, nutritional yeast, and plant-based milk. To enhance your diet, include beans, lentils, tofu, spinach, and quinoa.
Remember, it's crucial to be mindful of your nutritional intake to maintain a healthy vegan diet.
