Is melatonin safe for children's sleep issues? (Melatonin for Children)

Can I give my daughter melatonin for sleep?

Answered on 23rd May '24

It should not just be administered to children without consulting with a pediatrician. Melatonin can have some side effects, and the recommended dosage changes according to age, weight of a child, or their sleep problems. The best way to proceed would be to see a pediatrician.

I got a kitten a few days ago and she bit me pretty hard on my middle finger and it cause my thumb, pointer and middle finger to tingle for a little while afterwards. I am now feeling ill and unsure if it has to do with the bite or not so I'm just trying to see if I need to go get antibiotics or some testing/ shots done. She is unvaccinated and 11 weeks old.

Female | 30

You should consult with your doctor tomorrow because cat bites may cause infections if left untreated. Cat bite infections are secondary to bacteria found in the cat’s mouth. I suggest consulting an infectious disease specialist.

What can be done to ease ear infection until we see the specialist

Male | 1

You can use a warm cloth on the affected ear, take an over-the- counter pain reliever, and avoid putting anything inside of your ear. The best thing is to periodically visit an ENT professional immediately after the symptoms set in for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

Hello, I did the OralQuick test after we took the first PrEP pill and I did the test within 24 hours after we took the pill. Could the PrEP pill alone affect the result of the OralQuick test? I had never taken PrEp before AND we took the test about 15 hours after taking PrEP.

Male | 22

PrEP pill does not interfere with OralQuick test findings. Nevertheless, if you are worried, it is better to see a healthcare provider who could give you more accurate information and test results.

I got a very little dog cut without bleed, should I take vaccine

Male | 16

If the cut is a shallow one and has not bled, you should not take any risk and not get vaccinated. It is a good idea to keep the wound free from all dirt and also be careful for any indication of infection – redness, swelling, or discharge. If you observe any of these symptoms, you had better go to a doctor or a veterinarian if the job was done by you.

I have been having dull and achey pain in my chest. I can feel a pull when i lean my neck to the right. Should i see a doctor

You may be dealing with chest and neck discomfort. The dull, achy chest pain and feeling of a pull when moving your neck to the right could indicate muscle strain or inflammation. This might happen if you recently worked out vigorously or have poor posture. To ease the soreness, rest your body. Don't strain your neck. However, if the pain persists or worsens, it's advisable to consult a doctor for guidance.

Sore throat chills and headache 16 year old boy

Male | 16

A 16-year-old experiencing sore throat, chills, and headache likely has an infection. His body battles the illness, causing these symptoms. Resting, hydrating, and taking pain medication if needed, helps. Gargling warm salt water can soothe throat pain. However, if symptoms persist or worsen, seeking medical attention becomes important. The body's defenses fight infections, leading to unpleasant effects. Rest, fluids, and medication alleviate discomfort while the immune system overcomes the infection. But if improvement lacks, consulting a doctor ensures proper treatment.

In how many hours can I take cipmox 500

Male | 25

If an infection is the cause, Cipmox 500 can be taken every 8 hours. Symptoms of an infection include fever, pain, redness, or swelling. Infections are mostly caused by the bacteria that have a natural course of improvement with antibiotics. Complete the entire course of Cipmox 500, even if you feel better. Always consult your doctor to ensure that you are taking the correct medication.
