I am 27 year old female. Since past one year, I am suffering from acne and pimples. It subsided post application of ointments but new ones keep on popping up. The condition is not severe, it is very moderate. I seek guidance for keeping my skin clear and prevent new pimples.

Ma'am are you seeking consultation from a general practitioner, or from a dermatologist? Because general practitioners can provide limited assistance & guidance in the initial phase, but if their prescribed ointments don't work then you will have to take it a notch up and seek guidance from those who have expertise in a domain specific to your problem, in your case being, a dermatologist.
Also, if even dermatologist approved creams & medications don't work, then there are clinically advanced treatments too, such as laser therapy, chemical peel, dermabrasion and microdermabrasion. And do you have any specific skin care routine that you follow? or a list of ingredients which you are supposed to avoid while shopping for skincare products?
Sometimes even clinical dermatologists can have varied approach, so we would suggest that you visit multiple skin care experts and discuss your issues at length with them, such as:
- Planning a skin care routine with products specific to your skin type,
- Knowing all the treatment options which you can expect from them, right from medicated ones to those that are clinically advanced like peel/surgery/laser,
- Lastly, do not forget to enquire about any possible disorder which can lead to pimples or acne, and if some test/examination pertaining to same can be carried out. If its some hormonal or health condition at play which is causing such complications, then they can also refer you to a gynecologist, or dietician, or some other expert depending on the organs which are affected due to any possible disorder, through tests & examinations.

I have oily skin and acne problem. The problem is that scars are not removed completely. Some are getting light but not removed completely. I recently heard about microdermabrasion for acne scars from one of my friends. Does it really work? I am 23 now. Does it have any side effects?

Female | 23

If you have oily skin and acne problem, sometimes if acne is severe they might burst or get infected or if you pick your acne too much they might result into scars. As per Dermatologist there are 5 types of scars which are commonly encountered.
1. Ice Picks Scars: Very small in surface but deep and narrow below.
2. Roll-Over Scars: Wide but borders are difficult to appreciate
3. Box-car Scars: wide and borders can be easily appreciated.
4. Open pores like Scars: Small Ice Pick Scars
5. Hyper-trophic Scars:
so the treatment for the scars depends upon the type of scars. Commonly treatment which are effective are TCA cross, subsition treatment, microneedling, microneedling radiofrequency, PRP treatment, CO2 Laser, RBM Glass laser and even dermal fillers.
As you are 23 and you are asking about microdermabrasion, it removes superficial skin layers and it is effective only for superficial scars which are not very deep. This might require you multiple sessions like 8-10 sessions for it to work. Instead of Microdermabrasion you can go for microneedling, microneedling radiofrequency which will require less number of sessions and on top of it you can add PRP to it.

I am 34 yrs old female and I have acne and acne marks problem on my face - recently my face has been very dry and acne is coming also I have tight white pores issue which is making my skin look very dull and uneven.

Female | 34

As you are 34 years old, there might be some hormonal issues leading to acne. Consult local dermatologist for treatment who might prescribe you some topical antibiotics benzoyl peroxide or daplin or oral drugs depending upon the situation. It is advisable to use moisturizers, particularly water-based that do not uproot the pores because medication usage might result in dryness and little irritation. Your Skin will be much better after the treatment for Acne.

There is a sudden development of a black coloured lump on my lips . Can you please give me details of this

Male | 52

Several factors can cause black lumps. It's sometimes a self-resolving harmless blood blister that happens when you accidentally bite your lip or something more serious like skin cancer. Anyway, always be alert to the piece of the lump being uncomfortable, bloody, or growing in size. It's better to seek counseling from a physician to be cautious.

Hi I am taking esomeprazole, lipitor, lisinopril, citalopram and ropinerole. I want to know if it it safe to take anti sweat tablets. Thank you

Female | 59

Sweating is your body's natural way to cool down. Certain medications can increase sweat production as a side effect or be symptoms of underlying medical conditions. Anti-sweat tablets reduce sweat secretion but may interact with your current medications. It's crucial to consult your doctor for a safe solution. They can adjust your medications or suggest alternative treatments to address the root cause of your sweating. Always communicate openly with your doctor about any concerns or changes in your medication regimen to ensure your health is prioritized.

Female | 19

Sun exposure can darken the skin. Some medications can also cause the skin to darken. It's important to protect your skin from the sun and use a good cream recommended by a dermatologist. Your skin will heal if you take proper care of it. Some people's skin turns dark from too much sun, while others may experience darkening due to illness. Keep your skin safe from the sun and any injuries. Apply the cream prescribed by the dermat, and your skin will improve.
