How Do I Treat Sharp Pain After Cold Sore?
I am a 20 year old female that had a cold sore on my lip a few months ago. The actual scab is gone, but there is still a sharp pain in that spot when I touched it. Is it still contagious and how can I stop it? I’ve been putting Abreva and Carmex on the spot that hurts but nothing seems to help. Thank you

The nerve near your previous sore could be causing your current pain. Cold sores are contagious until fully healed, but once the scab is gone, the risk is usually over. You can apply a cold compress or take over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen. Avoid touching or picking at the sore to prevent irritation. If the pain persists or worsens, it's best to consult a dermatologist.
