Why are boils worsening on my mom's neck?
My mom is 50 years old she is facing some boils above her back side of neck. It's irritating and becoming worse due to the hot temperature of Delhi

Answered on 27th May '24
It seems that your mother may have heat boils on the nape area and this is because the sweat ducts are blocked leading to itchy red lumps on the skin. Such things are normal during hot seasons for example in Delhi where the climate is hot most of the time. She should keep herself cool, wash that area clean, and apply warm clothes on them too so that they can get better. In case they persist or even become worse then take her to visit a dermatologist.

I am suffering from ring worm infection in my groin areas on the leg.
Male | 17
You likely have ringworm affecting your groin region and leg area. This common fungal infection creates reddish, itchy, scaly skin patches. It spreads easily through contact with infected people or animals. To treat, use over-the-counter antifungal creams/sprays. Keep that area clean, and dry - aiding healing. If there is no improvement, see a dermatologist.

I have a fungal infection on my skin such as butt and neck. I thought to change my soap, some doctors suggested me to go with Medimix ayurvedic soap. But the problem is neem don't suit my skin, it starts appearing duller than usual. additionally, I do not want much costly soap name but in a normal range. Will you suggest me some soaps?
Female | 22
You could get relieved by itching, red spots, and peeling sometimes. Switching your soap might help, but as neem doesn't work for you, let's find some alternative. Seek for soaps endowed with the elements such as tea tree or coconut oil. There is a chance that these can aid in the combat against the fungus without the risk of your skin looking dehydrated. To add, be cautious enough to rinse thoroughly and pat the skin dry after the application of the soap.

How to remove a mole faster
Male | 19
Getting moles removed should always happen with a doctor's help. Sometimes, moles need to be removed if problematic or for looks. Never try removing a mole yourself - infection and scarring risks exist. Doctors use shaving, cutting, or lasers to remove moles, based on size and spot. If a bothersome mole exists, see a dermatologist about safe removal options.

I recently got Botox, and after that, I started losing a lot of hair. Even though I had hair loss before, now I am losing a lot more. Is this related to Botox side effects?
Female | 26
Hair loss after Botox is uncommon but can occur in some individuals. A reassuring fact is that it is generally temporary. Stress or the discharge of hormones can be responsible for hair loss, which medicine indicates can be Botox injections. In addition to hair loss, it's important to stay on a healthy diet, and cope with stress, and your hair to give extra care, if you want to help with hair loss. If the hair loss continues or worsens, consult a dermatologist for further advice.

Female | 29
If you've had a bump on your nose piercing for 3 years, it could be a keloid or a hypertrophic scar. Keloids are raised and can grow beyond the piercing site, while hypertrophic scars are raised but confined to the area of the piercing. It's best to consult a dermatologist to determine the exact cause and get appropriate treatment options.

I am 17, since Wednesday I have felt very tired everyday even though I’ve slept well, I’ve had this constant headache near my nose eyes and head which won’t leave. I’ve had a sore throat but it doesn’t hurt to swallow, I looked in the mirror today and it’s red, my tongue has spots at the back and abit of my mouth is swollen I think. I’ve taken paracetamol and it hasn’t helped and I don’t know what to do

You probably have a sinus infection. As a result, you might experience fatigue, headache, sore throat, and swollen mouth. The spots on your tongue may suggest an infection too. To feel better, drink water, rest, and see a dermatologist for further advice.

Male | 47
You are suffering from a fungal infection of your left leg, which is causing a lot of discomfort. Fungal infections are, in general, a common occurrence and can be caused by the overgrowth of certain fungi on the skin. You can try keeping the area clean and dry, using antifungal creams, and wearing loose clothing. If the symptoms do not go away or worsen, consult a dermatologist.

Dear Dr I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out regarding my brother's skin condition. He has developed small, lightly red bumps along with some small dry red blemishes on his body, primarily on his torso, hands, and inner thighs. These spots are not itchy or painful, but they have persisted for a while. Could you kindly advise on what the condition might be and recommend the most effective treatment to help him get rid of these spots completely? Thank you very much for your time and expertise. We would appreciate any guidance you can offer. Best regards,
Male | 17
Your brother might be suffering from a skin condition named eczema, or it is known as atopic dermatitis. It is the first step to the development of red bumps and dry, scaly patches on the skin. The development of eczema can be sometimes as a result of dry skin, stress, or allergies. To relieve symptoms, recommend your brother to apply soft moisturizers, avoid soaps that are too strong, cover him with comfortable and breathable clothes. If the problems will continue, seek the advice of a dermatologist.

You may be having a skin disorder known as vitiligo. Vitiligo is a condition in which parts of the skin turn white due to a lack of pigmentation. Problems like the skin shortage of pigmentation appear in white patches due to vitiligo disease. The methods of treating vitiligo can be quite difficult, but they can be handled with the help of some medicines like calming creams, phototherapy, and sometimes surgery. Not using sunscreen and the nervousness of a greater cause can intensify the symptoms. Visit a dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment.

Having acne near chin and its very painful and I am suffering it from 2 years and I am diagnosed with pcos but my periods are regular and my weight is under control
Female | 29
Acne close to your chin has a sharp pain for two years it can also be one of the symptoms of PCOS when you do not have irregular periods and your weight is fine. Hormone disruptors like PCOS are the cause of acne in the region of the chin. One thing to notice is that treatments with creams like salicylic acid, and laser resurfacing can be another option if you commit more to finding the right products for your skin. Not only antibiotics but also the ability of drugs to fight against PCOS by lifestyle changes leads to a reduction of acne too.

Cut self trimming pubic hair Hi Im 25 and was trying to trim my testicles with scissors and knicked a bit of skin and they were proper scissors. It bled a decent bit at first but I was in the shower so I was able to get a bit of toilet roll and hold it to stop the bleeding. It made me very dizzy to the point where I was struggling to stand I'm not sure if it was just because I was panicking or pain. But It stopped for a bit and I tried to stand and it started bleeding a tiny bit like a drop because I think it was a proper cut. I stood up again but I don't thinks it's bleeding any more and just looks like a knick. But is it something I should get checked out or should it be fine to let it heal. Sorry if this is the wrong thing to do I don't really know who to ask and phoning the doctors at my bit is really bad just now cause there so busy and if I'm just overreacting.
Male | 25
If the bleeding has stopped and the cut is small, it should heal on its own. Keep the area clean and apply an antiseptic. However, because you felt dizzy and it was a proper cut, it's a good idea to see a doctor, specifically a dermatologist or a urologist, to ensure there's no risk of infection or other complications.

I am 18 years old teenager and I want to remove tanning from my whole body and I also want to reduce the melanin secretion in my body ..so please prefer me best kojic acid soap for daily use
Male | 18
Tanning is produced by the skin when it absorbs more sunlight. This is the process that involves melanin, a protein that protects the skin. To decrease tanning and melanin, try a kojic acid soap. This soap can decrease the melanin in your skin and thus brighten your skin's color. For best results, use it daily.

I am a 39 year old woman and am having an issue with my skin on my chin for the last 2 weeks. After friction from making out with someone new. He did not have a beard. Maybe slight stubble but really not noticeable. My skin became raw and I put Vaseline on it and neosporin. After about a week acne started appearing. I changed my regimen to a salicylic acid ointment and moisturizer. It seems to help a bit but not a lot. My skin is less raw but still splotchy and red with acne. I have not ever struggled with skin issues. Should I keep up the acne treatment? Should I do something else? It peels and is uncomfortable (it stings with the ointment but once it dries it doesn’t hurt but it does bother me). I’m traveling in Brazil now but am from the US. Any help appreciated before I head home! I plan to see a dermatologist PA when I get back.
Female | 39
Your skin seems irritated by friction. The rawness, redness, and acne result from that. Using salicylic acid ointment helps acne. Continue applying it. Gently wash your skin, moisturize too. Consult a dermatologist for guidance.

Iam 36 years old I have oily skin with open pores I need some moisturizer for.my skin to.look fresh kindly suggest
Female | 36
You need a non-comedogenic moisturiser which doesn’t cause any breakout or add to the oily state of the skin. Squalene, ceramide containing moisturisers which do not block the pores are recommended for oily skin. Please consult a dermatologist for thorough analysis of your skin to get a customised prescription suitable for your skin. Each one has a unique skin and has to use best suitable products to maintain a healthy skin. Open pores can be reduced by using retinol containing creams at bedtime. If they are severe procedural treatments like laser toning, micro needling radio frequency can help.
