Tip of nose still swollen 1 year after rhinoplasty

Tip of nose still swollen 1 year after rhinoplasty, what to do?

Answered on 23rd May '24

Experiencing some residual swelling at the tip of the nose one year after rhinoplasty can be normal in certain cases. While the majority of swelling typically subsides within the first few months following the procedure, it's not uncommon for minor swelling to persist, particularly in the tip area, for a longer period of time.

Several factors can contribute to the persistence of swelling at the tip of the nose after one year such as Skin thickness, Surgical technique used, etc. If you're experiencing persistent swelling at the tip of your nose one year after rhinoplasty, it's recommended to consult with your surgeon for an evaluation. They will be able to assess your condition, determine the cause of the swelling, and provide appropriate guidance. In the meantime, here are a few things you can consider:

  1. Follow-up appointment: Schedule a follow-up appointment with your surgeon to discuss your concerns and have a thorough examination. They will be able to determine if the swelling is a normal part of the healing process or if it requires further intervention.
  2. Be patient: Swelling after rhinoplasty can take a significant amount of time to completely resolve. It's not uncommon for residual swelling to persist for up to a year or even longer in some cases. Allow your body ample time to heal, as the final results of rhinoplasty can take several months to become fully apparent.
  3. Avoid trauma: Take care to protect your nose from any trauma or injury during the healing process. Even minor accidents can cause additional swelling or affect the final outcome of your rhinoplasty.
  4. Follow post-operative instructions: Ensure that you are following all post-operative instructions provided by your surgeon. This may include specific care for managing swelling, such as avoiding strenuous activities, refraining from excessive sun exposure, and avoiding certain medications that can increase swelling.
  5. Massage: Your surgeon may recommend gentle massage techniques to help reduce swelling at the tip of the nose. However, it's crucial to follow their specific instructions, as improper techniques or excessive force can have adverse effects.
  6. Consider corticosteroid injections: In some cases, your surgeon may recommend corticosteroid injections to help reduce persistent swelling. These injections can help reduce inflammation and promote healing.

Remember, the advice provided here is general, and it's important to consult with your surgeon for personalized guidance based on your unique situation.

Hair Transplant Surgeon

Answered on 23rd May '24

Swelling of the tip is common while one recovers from rhinoplasty but if it persists a year or so after surgery then you should see your surgeon for follow up. Recovery periods may differ, however major swelling at this point is rare. They will sometimes recommend further time during which natural resolution takes place, or in some instances suggested interventions to take care of persistent swelling. Needless to say, regular communication with your surgeon will allow you for the most complete understanding of how things progress postoperatively and what is possibly wrong.

When can i sleep on my back after bbl?

Female | 43

After a BBL, you should not sleep face down on your back for several weeks in order to avoid pressure on the newly transplanted fat. Surgeons usually advise to sleep on your side or use a donut pillow, which minimizes the pressure against buttocks during early recovery. Follow your surgeon’s specific post-operative instructions and individual recovery progress. It is important to follow your surgeon’s advice in order for you to get the desired result with minimal risks of complications.

Blocked nose 6 months after rhinoplasty, what to do?

Female | 35

Experiencing a blocked nose six months after rhinoplasty can be normal in some cases, but it's essential to consult with your surgeon for a proper evaluation. While the majority of swelling and healing typically occur within the first few months following rhinoplasty, it's possible for residual swelling to persist for a longer period, especially in the nasal passages. Residual swelling, Scar tissue formation, Nasal valve collapse can be the reasons for blocked nose at this stage.

If you're experiencing a blocked nose six months after rhinoplasty, it's important to consult with your surgeon or an otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat specialist) to determine the cause and appropriate course of action. They will be able to evaluate your situation and provide you with personalized advice based on your specific circumstances. In the meantime, here are a few general suggestions that may help:

  1. Follow post-operative instructions: Review the instructions provided by your surgeon after the rhinoplasty and ensure that you are following them correctly. This may include nasal sprays, saline rinses, or other prescribed medications.
  2. Nasal irrigation: Consider using a saline nasal rinse or a neti pot to help flush out any mucus or debris from your nasal passages. This can help alleviate congestion and keep your nose clear.
  3. Humidify the air: Dry air can exacerbate nasal congestion. Using a humidifier in your living space or bedroom can add moisture to the air, reducing the likelihood of a blocked nose.
  4. Avoid irritants: Minimize exposure to irritants such as cigarette smoke, strong chemical odors, and pollutants. These can further inflame the nasal passages and contribute to congestion.
  5. Elevate your head during sleep: Keeping your head elevated while sleeping can help reduce nasal congestion. Try using an extra pillow or consider using a wedge pillow specifically designed for this purpose.
  6. Avoid blowing your nose forcefully: Blowing your nose too hard can potentially disrupt the healing process and worsen congestion. Instead, gently blow your nose with one nostril at a time or use a saline nasal spray to help clear your nasal passages.

Remember, these are general suggestions, and it's essential to seek professional medical advice for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

How can I reduce my breast I have a big breast and small buttocks

Female | 17

I would recommend for you to visit a plastic surgeon who specializes in breast reduction surgery. This technique includes removal of too much breast tissue and reshaping the rest to create a more balanced figure. But it has to be mentioned that any operation carries the risk of complications and side effects. Hence the discussion on the pros and cons of the breast reduction surgery should be made with a professional specialist before making a final decision.

Hi, my chest are diff size

Female | 28

It is not rare that individuals have somewhat unequal sizes of the chest. Sometimes, it may be more prominent but, doesn't bother people much; if anything, clothing usually hides this fact well enough. If there is no pain or other symptoms then there’s probably nothing to worry about either–the most important thing is how you feel. If an increase in size comes with pain, shortness of breath or a feeling of something being wrong then visit a doctor for some advice.
