Answered on 27th Jan '25
This symptom can stem from various causes, such as allergies, infections, or even environmental factors. The small spot observed on the X-ray may indicate several possibilities, but it does not necessarily point to something serious. It’s crucial to discuss these findings with her pediatrician, who can interpret the X-ray in the context of her overall health. In the meantime, maintaining a comfortable environment and monitoring her symptoms can be helpful.

My chest in pain after inhaled helium balloon after 6 hours ago
Male | 16
It’s understandable to be concerned about discomfort in your chest after inhaling helium from a balloon. This sensation could be due to irritation of the airways or muscles from the act itself. While mild symptoms might resolve on their own, it’s essential to monitor for any worsening pain, shortness of breath, or other unusual signs. Staying calm and resting can help. If discomfort persists or if you experience any alarming symptoms, please consider consulting a cardiologist for a thorough evaluation.

My daughter has had a pretty bad cough since Wednesday. We know it’s bronchitis, but we need some over-the-counter medicine for her to take. Do you have any recommendations?
Female | 13
if this is bronchitis, the problem is that there may be some swelling inside her lungs’ airways. It causes coughing, mucus and sometimes fever too. Give her lots of water to drink and let her have enough bed rest. Additionally, consider buying an OTC cough syrup with dextromethorphan for her. This will relieve the irritation in the throat making the cough less frequent and more productive. Do not exceed the recommended dose on the label without consulting a doctor or pharmacist first.

The symptoms you mentioned, such as hoarseness, difficulty speaking, and ear pain, could be post-viral laryngitis. It is one of the possible post-viral complications following a viral infection like COVID. Make sure to rest your voice, drink plenty of fluids, and steer clear of irritants such as smoking. If the symptoms do not go away, it is a good idea to visit an ENT specialist for a more detailed examination and treatment.

My daughter is 12 plus .she complains of breathlessness especially during night ,after which she sleeps nicely.she had a Ceasar on jan 10 this year for the first time and the reason is still not known after all check-up. She says she had an attack when she was trying to tell us she is not able to breathe well.Since that day she is worried and little anxious that same incident might not occur. This gave us an idea of meeting a pulmonologist who can help us.kindly suggest
Female | 12
It is best to have your daughter evaluated by a pulmonologist. The pulmonologist may recommend a variety of tests to assess her breathlessness, including a chest x-ray, spirometry, a complete blood count (CBC), and a complete metabolic panel. Depending on the results of the tests, the pulmonologist will recommend additional tests, such as an electrocardiogram (ECG) or a pulmonary function test (PFT). Additionally, the doctor can recommend taking medications to help manage her symptoms. It is important to monitor her closely for any changes in her breathing patterns.

Hello I’m a 19 year old male that’s been spitting up blood with no cough or chest pain or difficulty breathing. It’s not a large amount of blood and doesn’t happen 24/7 / I used to vape / smoke weed but have stopped when I noticed this was happening. It’s been happening for about the last week and a half and have noticed the blood slowly increasing any thoughts on what this could be ??
Male | 19
Blood sputum would be an alarming sign that should not be ignored. You used to vape and smoke weed and this is a vital point here. It can be that smoking is the cause of irritation in your lungs. This might lead to small bleeds in your throat. You have stopped smoking and that is a good thing. But for your safety, get a thorough physical examination by a pulmonologist as soon as possible.

Male | 33
It sounds like you are experiencing a combination of respiratory symptoms, likely related to an allergic reaction or sensitivity to dust or certain foods, which may be exacerbating your cough and chest tightness. The white mucus suggests your airways may be reacting to irritants. To alleviate symptoms, try to avoid spicy foods, ensure good ventilation while cooking, and consider using an air purifier. Staying hydrated and using saline nasal sprays can also help. However, given your persistent issues, I recommend consulting a pulmonologist for a thorough evaluation and personalized treatment plan.

In case you vape and feel nervous, this might be the thing that is exacerbating your distress. Vaping injures the lungs and causes breathing problems. Anxiety may also bring about a rare situation where one finds it hard to breathe. As an alternative try to keep away from as often as possible and have deep breath exercises to calm anxiety or chat with someone.
