  • Medicated treatments mentioned below, can help you out ((the weaker strength-based versions are available over the counter, BUT you will require a clinical prescription if you need a stronger concentration)):
    • Benzoyl peroxide (kills acne-causing bacteria).
    • Salicylic acid (allows exfoliation).
    • Retinoids (prevents inflammation and pimple formation).
    • Azelaic acid (anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory).
    • Topical antibiotics (eliminates bacteria and decreases inflammation).
    • Caution: They tend to make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so with expert supervision, you would know what kind of sunscreen to use and in how much quantity, therefore read package instructions and consult a physician for beginners.

  • Advanced treatments: if OTC drugs or clinical prescriptions fail, then there are advanced options available too, such as laser resurfacing, chemical peel, dermabrasion and microdermabrasion.
    • Common side effects following each are:
      • Pain. discomfort, stinging (for all).
      • swelling, redness and bruising (for all).
      • Increased sensitivity to sun (chemical peel).
    • Risks for each treatments can be:
      • Damage to heart/kidney/liver (chemical peel)
      • Skin getting pierced (microdermabrasion/dermabrasion).
      • Damage to eye (microdermabrasion/dermabrasion).
      • Permanent pigmentation, scarring and blistering (for all).

To get in touch with experts, refer our page - Dermatologists.

  • Your basic skincare routine must comprise of following steps:
    • A dermatologist-recommended face wash that matches your skin type, twice a day.
    • Application of dermatologist-recommended moisturizer following facewash, when your face is still wet, to lock the moisture in.
    • Using a sunscreen of appropriate SPF during daytime, and a night cream for night time.
    • For all these products, you need to know what ingredients they contain and what you are supposed to avoid, depending on your skin type and other issues.

Tanning happens in response to increased pigment production within our skin, caused by exposure to sun.

There are 4 tan removal treatments which are as follows:

  • Laser toning (Rs. 4,000-10,000): laser device breaks down pigment and reduces the appearance of tan, sun spots, etc.
    • Common side effects include: Pain, discomfort, and stinging sensation.
    • Whereas the risks are: Pigmentation, scarring, and blistering.

  • Chemical Peel (Rs. 1,800-10,000): A mixture of acids that is beneficial for skin, is applied on the concerned region of your body, in the required quantity, which dries up and is removed thereafter - this process aids in the regeneration of newer & healthier skin cells by removing upper tanned layers of skin.
    • Common side effects include:
      • Redness & stinging.
      • Increased sensitivity to sun.
      • Scabbing and swelling.
    • Whereas the risks are:
      • Permanent scarring.
      • Pigmentation.
      • Damage to Heart, kidney, or liver.

  • Microdermabrasion (Rs. 1500 to Rs. 6000 per session): Acts on the epidermis only (superficial scarring). During the treatment, your dermatologist will use a drill-like handheld appliance with a wire brush or some other abrasive as its attachment, to swipe over your skin. Same will eliminate epidermal scarring.
    • Common side effects: Swelling, bruising, and redness.
    • Whereas the risks are:
      • Skin getting pierced.
      • Any damage to eye if the doctor isn't careful enough.

  • Creams/face pack/face wash (Rs. 200 to Rs. 2000): Results last for comparatively lesser amount of time, and tanning can affect even deeper layers of your skin while these would work on only the surface level of your skin.

To know more, you can consider getting in touch with experts through our page - Dermatologists, or that based on any other city nearest to your residence, let us know!

Note:

  • Incurred cost may exceed our given range depending on - location/infrastructure of clinic, severity of concern, target area, thickness of skin, number of sessions, experience of clinician, and other value-added services provided by the clinic.
  • Except for genitals or region surrounding eyes, you should be able to get these treatments done for other areas - discuss this with the doctor.
  • These treatments can be done on people of all skin types, but acnes, or skin infection at the time, may create undesirable complications.
  • To pick a suitable specialist, discuss/look-out for these aspects:
    • Past experiences & success rates.
    • Common side effects & risks of such procedures.
    • Pre-treatment preparations & post-treatment care.
    • Candidate eligibility to undergo these treatments.
    • Correction course in case you run into risks &/or achieve undesirable outcomes.
    • Detailed information about how they will perform these treatments & what outcomes they intend to achieve (permanent cure/reducing the degree of problem/preventing further progress).
    • Pay utmost attention to hygiene and sterilized tools - as unsterilized equipment can cause infection.

We have shared our limited knowledge on hair loss below, please read ahead:

  1. One treatment that doesn't require prescription since its OTC, and what we can suggest is - Minoxidil:
    • It comes in these forms - liquid, foam and shampoo, same is to be applied on the scalp skin once everyday for women and twice regularly for men.
    • It might take a few months for you to be able to judge whether this is working for you or not, and if it does then you can continue using the medicine to reap benefits.
    • Possible side effects include scalp irritation and hair growth on unwanted regions such as the adjacent skin of the face as well as your hands.

  2. Prescription Medication: if it's some hormonal disorder or genetic predisposition.

  3. Hair transplant surgery (Rs. 25-80 per graft, can go upto 4,500 grafts):
    • While undergoing this procedure, a dermatologist removes hair from that region of your head that has appropriate hair density, and then proceeds to transplant it to the balding spot where thinning is observed.
    • Each graft carries 1 to 3 hair strands.
    • Possible risks you can run into post-surgery: bleeding, bruising, swelling and infection.
    • You may need more than one surgery to get the desired effect.
    • Read here, to understand cost breakdown/types/requirements - Hair Transplant in India.
    • You may face challenges if you have curly hair or if you happen to be a transgender individual, with regards to positioning of grafts, please discuss with the surgeon.
    • Also, if you don't have enough hair in your donor's region, then you can also opt for biofiber synthetic hair implants, they are artificial hair implants that can be fixed on your scalp, and they will be accepted by your body despite being a foreign object.

  4. PRP (Rs. 4,500 - 20,000 per session, or exceed):
    • It involves platelet-rich plasma being extracted from our own blood cells, and then being injected on to the scanty parts of our scalp.
    • To understand more about cost breakdown/eligibility/test/process, read here - PRP Hair Treatment.

  5. Laser therapy (not sure but can go up to Rs. 60,000 or exceed):
    • Not researched extensively but some studies have claimed that it can be beneficial.
    • Theoretically speaking, when hair follicles absorb laser light at required level, then it can stimulate hair growth.

  6. Lifestyle fixes:
    • Lifestyle modifications such as the shampoo/conditioner/hair oil you use, to replace them with better alternatives carrying those ingredients which will benefit your hair, or diet changes and exercise schedule will be planned, or even an effective hair spray.

  • You can start with minoxidil for now, but if it doesn't work then please approach a specialist, for your convenience, we are also linking our page which might help you out in the long run - Hair Loss Treatment doctors.
  • Lastly, discuss with doctors these things in-depth:
    • How they will carry out the process & what outcome they intend to achieve.
    • Risks & common side-effects.
    • Correction course/compensation if you achieve unwanted outcomes or land in any risk.
    • Patient eligibility for PRP and/or hair transplant surgery.
    • Their past experiences & success rate.
    • How your current health conditions, history of diseases, or family history, and supplements/other medications will affect the outcome/experience.
    • Note: Price varies depending on location/infrastructure/facilities of clinic, experience of specialist, and advanced techniques if implemented so as to improve your experience.

Drop us a message if you have different location requirements to undergo any treatment, and also, you can approach us anytime you have any doubts!

The specialist will be able to assess your hair better.

Laser slows down the rate of hair growth but hormonal conditions can render it vain, so the specialist will be a better judge.

Even if it is suitable for you can still risk your skin turning dark due to intense heat of laser, as a result of which you should carefully pick the expert that will handle your case, and post-treatment you will have to avoid hot showers and exposure to sun, and will have to use sunscreens or other creams to soothe your skin, your doctor will guide you on same.

Other likely side effects include swelling, redness, and scarring, but they are temporary.

Depending on the degree to which your acne & spots are raised, you can also explore the undermentioned options:

  • Laser treatment: Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 22,000
  • Microdermabrasion: Rs. 1500 to Rs. 6000
  • Chemical peels: Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 10,000 per session.
    • These can work for people of all skin types, but if you have any skin condition such as pigmentation/etc, then there could be complications.
    • The incurred cost can exceed the range estimated by us, owing to factors such as location/experience of the clinician, severity of concern, number of sessions, area covered, and value-added services provided by the clinic.

Currently, there are 3 kinds of clinical procedures to help you combat dark circles:

  • Bleaching creams: To lighten the hyperpigmentation under your eyes.
  • Advanced treatments:
    • Laser therapy: Where heat produced by intense light beam vaporizes damaged cells beneath your eyes.
    • Chemical peel: A blend of skin-nutritive acids which is applied to your skin and peeled off later on to eliminate all impurities.
  • Minimally invasive techniques:
    • There is a surgical technique to remove fat from your lids if the shadow casted by them is the culprit to be blamed, also known as blepharoplasty.
    • And otherwise, you can also inject certain acids into the tissues underneath your eyes, so as to overcome volume loss under your eyes which could have contributed to the appearance of dark circles as well, they are known as fillers.

We have curated a list of dermatologists in India, refer it to get in touch with skilled practitioners and enquire about the above-mentioned options.

Drop us a message if you have any other doubt or if you want a city-specific list to ease your search for a specialist of desired mix. Take care!

Treatments mentioned below are general options available with each patient, but it's for dermatologist to decide if patients are eligible to undergo any of them, our information can help you know what aspects to discuss or enquire about.

  1. Home remedies (varied expenses): Exfoliation, shaving, and lifestyle changes wherein the dermatologist will suggest OTC products for personal hygiene, to replace the ones being used by you at present, depending upon your skin type/issues.
  2. Prescription topicals/creams (varied expenses): have stronger strength than OTC counterparts and require clinician recommendation.
  3. Laser toning (Rs. 4,000-10,000 per session): laser device breaks down your pigment and helps diminish the impression of tan, sun spots, etc.
  4. Chemical Peel (Rs. 1,800-10,000 per session): A mixture of skin-healthy acids which is applied on the concerned region of your body, it dries up later on and is removed subsequently - this allows regeneration of newer & healthier skin cells by removing upper tanned layers of skin.
  5. Skin Injections (Rs. 6,000-40,000 per session): Can safeguard your skin against U.V rays, along with enhancing skin tone. But will use a dosage of glutathione which comes with its own set of risks.
  6. Microneedling (Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000 per session): You will be provided with anesthesia, followed by fine pricks being produced evenly throughout face, and then there will be a gentle application of serum, which will result in the growth of collagen

We would also like to clarify that actual charges incurred can exceed the given estimates, depending on:
    - experience/location of doctor, infrastructure of clinic, technology/solution deployed to improve overall experience, and value added services provided along with treatment.

To get in touch with experts, refer our page - Dermatologists.
We are just a message away if you have city-specific preferences or any other doubt, take care!

Before agreeing for any treatment, look for these aspects:
- Side effects & risks associated with each treatment, Pre-treatment preparations & post-treatment care concerning each treatment, patient eligibility to undergo these treatments & correction course if they are ineligible, possibility of your health background creating complications, revision treatment for undesirable outcomes, and detailed information about the procedure & what outcomes they aim to achieve (permanent cure/reducing the degree of problem/preventing further progress).
