Sinusitis commonly occurs after one has had a cold or due to allergies. To relieve these symptoms you can do steam inhalation using hot water, saline nasal spray that helps moisten the inside of your nose so they’re less likely to dry out, and over-the-counter decongestants like pseudoephedrine (Sudafed). If this is bothersome, visit an ENT specialist.

Why does my left upper ear hurt when touched?
I am a 15 year old male and for the past 2 or 3 days I have had pain in my left semi-outwards upper ear. It feels sort-of like a bump and doesn't constantly hurt but hurts more if moved or touched (finger, airpod, etc.). It's not a sharp pain or anything, it has been more of a pressure-like pain at times. It's right below the surface and not in my inner ear. What might this be?

You may have an external ear infection, commonly known as “swimmer’s ear.” Signs and symptoms of it could be pain, which may worsen when touching the outside of the ear or tugging on the earlobe, as well as a sensation that your ear is full inside. Water trapped in the ear or skin irritation can cause this infection. You could help yourself feel better by trying to keep your ears dry and taking nonprescription pain relievers. However, if the pain doesn’t go away or becomes severe, you should see a ENT specialist.

You might have the feeling that your throat is scratchy and it could be painful to swallow. At times, even when chewing or talking the pain may worsen. Pain in the throat and a bitter taste in the mouth can be signs of an underlying infection, such as a throat infection or tonsillitis. It is also possible that the symptoms are due to other causes, such as acid reflux or allergies. If you experience this symptom on a regular basis, it would be best to consult with your doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Your doctor may suggest further tests, such as blood tests, throat swabs, or imaging tests, to determine the cause of your symptoms.
