What are the treatments available for chronic apical periodontitis?

Answered on 23rd May '24

Three treatments are available.
1st one,  Nonsurgical root canal treatment.
pros: can save the tooth.
cons: mutiple time visit to clinic  at 7-10 days interval / 1-2 months interval (depending which kind of medication is given to resolve the infection by the dentist).so needs a lots of patience to save the tooth.
If responding and infection start healing via radiograph then congratulations. if not responding after giving medication also (can happened) then Apicoectomy ( cutting the apical root part along with cleaning of the infection) is the option.
pros: can able to save the tooth still.
cons: cant able to done in all tooth specailly posterior due to accessibility issue. so the third option is Extraction and replacement.

Can a hyperthyroid patient ever get a Dental Implant?

Answered on 23rd May '24

Obviously a hyperthyroid patient can get dental impant. provided the thyroid level is under control after medication which one the doctor prescribe for your thyroid.

Allthought other parameter are also important but maily the T3,T4, TSH levels, blood pressure  and heart rate (increased in uncontrolled hyperthyroid patient) and  bone density made your implantologist happy then obviously he or she will agree to do an implant.

My teeth have become very loose and I lost 1 tooth just by chewing on bread. What is wrong with me?!

Answered on 23rd May '24

May be your bone height anchoring the teeth are downshifted markedly so that the teeth became loose.

please visit a nearby dentist / Periodontist so that tge doctor can tell you about the other teeth condition and  whether they will be saved or not.

please try to avoid to use your front teeth in between for eating ( cut fruits from your front teeth or  cut any sachet ) because it will increase the risk of swalloing tooth
un-intentionally.

Why do i need dental x ray?

Answered on 23rd May '24

dental x ray is required to know the internal anatomy of the tooth as well as the surrounding bony architecture of that particular tooth or teeth.whether there periapical radiolucency ( infection) present or not . If present what is the diameter. the height of crestal bone, amount of curvature of root, presence of extra root, canals are visible or calcified, pulp chamber is calcified or not. whether extension of caries destructed the dome of the tooth like all those things  should be determined for a dentist before starting of a treatment.
mostly four types of x rays are common
IOPAR/RVG mostly required for extractions and rcts.
OPG  to measure any bony lesion of to evaluated mandibulat fractures.
CBCT is to evaluate any fractures of bone or tooth.
and CT scan maily for trauma cases.

Asked for Female, 33

Hi.. i am 33yrs old female.. i want to know the cost of gap filling between my front two teeth..

Answered on 23rd May '24

cost depends mainly on two things.

1st is what kind of treatment you choose or suited  for you like tooth color filling (Minimum cost), ceramic veneers(Costly), crowns( metal ceramic avarage cost) ,(Or all ceramic higher cost and higher aesthetics also) , (Zirconia higher cost higher strength).

2nd according to the dentist ( like there specialization, expertise, what kind of material they will use, advanced equipments etc).
accoding to that the cost can be decided to close  your gaps between two front teeth.

How long does a root canal last without a crown?

Answered on 23rd May '24

root canal without crown can be done maily in two situations.1. if the tooth structure loss minimal i.e, all the four walls are remaining and 1.5 mm in thickness . in such cases the prognosis of lasting of the root canal is good provided the the canal done nicely and patient also maintain the rct treated tooth by regular flossing, not chewing bones directly over that tooth. As per (European) guidlines of endodontics atleast/minimum 4 years of life can be expected after a root canal treatment done.2. If the tooth is periodontically compromised like mobility , severe bone loss, huge amount of tooth structure loss. in that case if still patient wants to save the tooth after knowing the poor prognosis of the tooth then also root canal treatment without crown can be done. well in that case obviouly the prognosis is poor and no one gives you the guarantee of how much time it will last.
