Let's read ahead about Jumna's journey to beat blood cancer!
Jumna is a 15-year-old girl from Bangladesh. She visited India with her father in November 2020.
They came into contact with ClinicSpots through our Q&A platform. After we came across their queries online, our case manager contacted them. The case manager discussed each and every piece of information about the patient's health conditions.
After we learned that the patient had blood cancer, we alerted them to take action as soon as possible. We cannot wait for this type of cancer to spread more in the body, as it can be dangerous. The patient's father agreed and responded immediately.
Our team has taken prompt action and shared the VIL(Visa Invitation Letter) with them within 24 hours, and they got the VISA within 3 days. They traveled to India in another week. We guaranteed hassle-free travel right from their accommodation to the hospital stay. Our team took each detail of the patient and her father, who accompanied her on this trip to India. They were happy that everything was so well taken care of by Clinicspots' patient coordination team.
They were amazed that they got the VISA in such a limited time.
Our team members and ClinicSpots executive assisted them on their medical journey and took care of everything.
Once they arrived, Jumna was taken to Fortis Hospital Mulund, Mumbai, for blood cancer treatment. Her case was assigned to Dr. Subhraprakash Sanyal, who got good reviews for treating younger patients.
Diagnosis Tests
Jumna had problems like fever, tonsils (Lymph Node Tonsils), inability to swallow, and weight loss. Before starting the treatment, the doctor recommended undergoing multiple tests to understand the severity and stage of the cancer.
The tests are as follows:
- Blood test
- CBC test
- RFT test
- Whole-body PET CT scan
- Bone marrow aspiration
- Biopsy
The bone marrow aspiration test was done to determine whether the patient needed transplantation.
Treatment Plan
After the tests, Dr. Sanyal decided to take the treatment further by using chemotherapy. During the whole tenure of her treatment, Jumna took around 3 chemotherapies, costing her around 4.5 lacs each.
Jumna stayed for over 3 months in India. (For your information, medical tourists can stay for 6 months.) During these 3 months, she has to visit the hospital every 21 days for her chemotherapy. All the tests need to be done before every chemotherapy except the biopsy. The patient used to stay for 3 to 4 days in the hospital where the chemotherapy only took one day and the rest of the days were just for observation.
Post Treatment Guidelines
After the treatment was completed, doctors discovered that there were no cancer cells in her body and she was fit to go. She initially stayed in the hospital for around 20 days under good care and observation.
All the facilities that were provided were up to the mark. Dr. Sanyal has a good reputation for treating patients with friendliness and care.
Dr. Sanyal gave the post-treatment guidelines in which Jumna must revisit India yearly for follow-up. During this revisit, a blood test and whole-body PET CT have to be done to find out if more cancer cells have developed or not.
Follow-up
Jumna Khan visited India in the year 2020 and completed her treatment in the year 2021. Recently, Jumna revisited India on December 30, 2021, for her follow-up procedure. The doctors were happy to inform them that there were no cancer cells in the body.
Jumna's father, who was with her on the trip, expressed satisfaction that they quickly got a positive response from the ClinicSpots. They were pleased that ClinicSpots helped them from treatment to accommodation.
