Will stem cells offer a cure for sudden hearing loss?

April 12,2023 I was showering when I finish I heard a sound in my head like pipes falling. Then I notice I couldn't hear in my left ear and I started hear a loud buzzing sound. This was a weekend and I couldn't see my doctor until Monday. He had me take a ct scan to rule out a stroke. I then was given a referral to see an ENT . I was told by the ENT that I was deaf in my left ear and a hearing aid wouldn't help me and come back in a month. I became so angry with this person because he didn't care about my health issue. I feel like I am on this journey alone. Through my research, I found there is no cure for sudden hearing loss. However it appears stem cells offer promise for a cure. When do you think there may be a cure or which country is ahead of the curve for a cure.

Sudden hearing loss, like what you've described, is known as sudden sensorineural hearing loss. Common symptoms include hearing a loud buzzing sound and feeling as though your ear is blocked. The exact cause isn't always clear, but it may be related to infections or blood circulation issues in the ear. While there is no known cure, researchers in countries like Japan are exploring stem cell treatments as a potential future option. It's important to prioritize your health and stay in regular contact with your doctor.

My younger sun suffering from cerebral palsy. Everything getting delayed, muscle tone, no eye contact. What is the chances if he can at-lest seat and have eye contact.

Male | 2

The development and prognosis for a child with cerebral palsy vary based on its severity and individual differences. Early interventions such as therapies can help improve muscle tone, mobility, and communication skills. While challenges may exist, many children with cerebral palsy make progress with support.

I have a daughter whose development has been a bit late since she was little. She could only lie face down after she was 1 year old and then she could walk around 3 or 4 years old. Her development is slow but she is currently in grade 11 at school, but her mental ability is very weak. Her IQ is below 100. Her right hand, right leg and arm are stiff. The sole of the right foot tilts inward so it is difficult to walk or not like a normal person. What I hope from this treatment is that she right side can function normally. Because now you need help to clean after menstruation or after defecating, considering that the only thing that can be used normally is only the left hand, and even then it is not very active.

Female | 18

Your daughter's symptoms are typical of cerebral palsy which causes a lack of muscle coordination and also results in mobility problems. Those symptoms you named are the cause of an extra motor diagnostic test to be done, like hip reflexes to be tested, and a tossed foot drop. The most optimal way is physiotherapy to do work on muscle tone or strength and loosen tightness, to let your child move properly. In the case of consistent therapy, she will grow more independent and be able to use her muscles more easily so she can join you in activities.

I am a neuro patient,I am suffering from brain tumour,I have undergone radiosurgery proton beam therapy, But now I feel mentally very week,I am a service holder but I am not able to take work pressure So I want to know is there any solution of these problem

Female | 46

You find yourself to be mentally down as a result of the treatment, which was proton beam therapy for your brain tumor. This is a natural outcome because the treatment hurts the healthy brain tissue. Some usual symptoms are fatigue, memory problems, and a problem concentrating.  Make sure you rest, eat the right foods, and keep in contact with your healthcare team. Alongside counseling, look into this support program for a solution.

My uncle is 67 years old with lung cancer and been in remission for a while. He suffers bad migraines. He was getting shots and nothing worked. He said he hit his head a couple times and developed a subdermal hematoma. He started throwing up and took him to er they transferred him to toledo hospital where they did burr holes and released blood from his brain. He is not recovering or answering any questions properly. Now he has air in the burrs. Last scan showed no air but blood has moved to the back of his head. They are giving fentanyl by IV and npo. 3 days not eating. He is confused and restrained. No communication with a doctor since after surgery We been here since Thursday He had his surgery friday. Should I take him somewhere else? His cancer is not killing him. These headaches from chemo and radiation after effects I believe.

Male | 67

The headache and confusion he is experiencing might be due to the hematoma, which is a blood clot in his brain. The air in the burr holes is concerning. The brain cannot tolerate excess blood, as it may cause problems. At least the pain medicine is helping him. His recovery process might be a bit lengthy. It's important to stay in constant communication with the doctors at the hospital.

He can't walk carefully he falls down,he can't set on the floor he set on chair,he can't speak clearly and he is physically so weak he 7 years old.his weight is 17kg and his height is 105cm

Male | 7

Some kids have difficulty with movement and speaking clearly. This can stem from various reasons. One possibility for a child this age is a neuromuscular disorder, which affects the muscles and nerves involved in movement and speech. It's crucial to take the child to a pediatric specialist for tests to determine the exact cause. Meanwhile, ensure the child gets plenty of rest and proper nutrition. Avoid activities that risk falls or injuries. Addressing symptoms promptly helps the child feel better and stronger.

Female | 17

You could be having some pain on the left side of your head leading to anxiety and pain in your left body side. Such signs may result from tension, lack of enough sleep, or dehydration. Drink water, have some sleep then try doing deep breathing exercises which can help reduce this pain.

Hi, Doctor. I am 14 years old. I eat gingko biloba to improve memory but I seem to be allergic to it. what should I do, can I take these two pills (Allergic medical )at the same time or alternately? What are the doctor's recommended supplements that I can eat to improve memory? Best greats, sharifah

Female | 14

It's great that you're looking to improve your memory, but it's best not to take anything you're allergic to. Rash, itching, or even difficulty breathing can occur as allergic reactions to ginkgo biloba. You should stop taking it if you are allergic. Instead, maybe try omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, or magnesium. These are good for memory too.
