Can I Safely Use Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% Ointment?
Can I use benzoyl peroxide 2.5% concentration ointment
Dermatologist
Answered on 5th July '24
The typical usage of Benzoyl peroxide 2.5% ointment is for acne treatment. It can be of tremendous use in getting rid of the microorganisms on the skin surface that could cause acne eruptions. Overproduction of oil, clogged pores, and bacteria are the most rampant causes of acne. Benzoyl peroxide when used as prescribed by a dermatologist will help decrease the number of bacteria on the skin, which in turn will aid in the improvement of the acne symptoms.

I have problem of dark underarms and dark knees
Female | 21
For a very dry and sensitive skin, start a niacinamide based gel to calm the skin .change the face wash to a gentle one, rather than a glow providing one. Post that apply the niacinamide. then use acne moisturizer and then sunscreen for acne prone skin. If this doesn't help you you can consult a dermatologist for skin lightening treatment.

Hi, my brother is having these white spots on his back right below neck. It was a tiny spot and now it is increasing. What should we do?
Male | 29
Your brother may have a condition called tinea versicolor. It occurs when areas of the skin get discolored with white pigmentation. Since there are yeasts that occur, they are the result of the infection of the skin. The circles get bigger if the weather is warm and wet. Use an antifungal cream or medicated shampoo to help you out. Visit a dermatologist to get a proper solution for his condition.

About Hair and beard growth
Male | 19
Hair and beard development can differ to a great extent among people due to factors such as genetics, hormonal levels, and nutritional health. The most common concerns may consist of slow growth, patchiness, or thinning. A well-balanced diet rich in vitamins, such as biotin and zinc, may have the potential to boost hair growth. Regular combing may also activate follicles. If your case is serious or you constantly feel discomfort, the best decision is to visit a dermatologist.

I’m 26 years old female I’m getting still acne and it is becoming very flat red spots like post inflammatory erythema? What should I do ?
Female | 26
This condition may develop when acne is no longer severe and it may take time to naturally disappear. To aid the process, you may wash the area of your skin with a cleanser, be careful not to pick or get acne pimples, use oil-free moisturizers, and apply products with ingredients such as niacinamide or vitamin C. Bear in mind that the redness would need time to go before it finally disappears.

Fungal /bacterial growth on my feet
Male | 37
You may have fungus or bacteria growth. Warm, damp conditions help these germs multiply. Signs include redness, itchiness, unpleasant odor. Keep feet clean, dry. Wear fresh socks, shoes. Antifungal or antibacterial creams might help too. If symptoms persist, see a dermatologist.

I'm 22 years of age . I'm experiencing severe hairfall now. Thickness is reducing day by day especially crown area. I have dandruff issue too. In some parts when I touch my scalp using fingers I can feel a small round bald area.
Male | 22
Hello sir since your hair loss is rapid and dandruff issue could be more of flaking, due to DHT(Dihydrotestesterone) which is the root cause of hair loss also known as andogenetic alopecia.... PRP, laser, minoxidil 5% would be an ideal solution for such hair loss condition.

What is the best treatment for vitiligo? Benifit between Pototherapy or oral medication for vitiligo treatment
Female | 27
Vitiligo makes your skin lose color in patches. Cells that produce pigment stop functioning, leading to white spots. Treatment choices are phototherapy and medicines. Phototherapy uses light to restore pigmentation. Oral medications help regain skin color. A dermatologist can recommend treatment after assessing your condition. Phototherapy and medication are effective options. Discuss with your doctor to choose the right approach.

I am 38yrs old after delivery my hair is becoming thin so any my skin color also became bit dark shade as I am fair earlier please suggest any supplements for thick hair and skin whitening
Female | 38
You're worried about your hair being thin and your skin getting darker after delivery. These changes are quite typical and can be related to hormonal storms. Apart from that, you can try to use biotin supplements, which promote hair growth, to thicken your hair and Vitamin C can help skin tone brighten. Also, be sure to take proper nutrition and have sufficient water intake for your skin. If you have any more problems, kindly contact a dermatologist.

Am 35 year old Getting white head like pimples on forehead
Female | 35
Those whiteheads on your forehead are probably a type of acne called comedones. The hair follicles become blocked with oil and dead skin cells. Skin conditions can be accompanied by small, white bumps. One way is to use mild face washes with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide which can help remedy the clogged pores.

Herpes zoster, also known as shingles, is caused by the same virus as chickenpox. It can lead to a rash, blisters, and pain. Since the ointment hasn't been effective, I recommend your dad see a dermatologist for further evaluation and possibly a prescription to help with the pain and healing.

Fungal infection hua hai baat karna hai
Male | 23
Fungal infections may create symptoms such as itching, redness, as well as irritation of the skin or even mucous membranes. They are usually the result of warm and humid environments or weakened immune systems. Keeping the affected areas clean and dry is crucial to reduce the discomfort. The absence of over-the-counter antifungal creams may help, but seeing a dermatologist is a good decision for personalized advice and treatment options.

I'm 19 years old, I had irritation in my inner thigh thought to be thigh chaffing, it stopped then had a surgery for ovarian cyst removal surgery. After a week I had a watery profuse discharge from down there with a weird bad smell stopped after 3 days but caused severe irritation in my inner thigh and labia majora. Went to a dermatologist (and that was 3 months ago) he prescribed for me daktacort thrice daily and triflucan 150mg once weekly as I had tinia cruris (not sure of spelling). My skin got better but I still have slight irritation in my labia majora and minora and white solid like discharge in the middle of the day (not sure if it's okay) my dermatologist told me to continue till my symptoms stop completely and add 2 weeks but I have doubts about the dose and prescription because I didn't think it would last this long. Please help me relief my doubts.
Female | 19
It's normal for such infections to take time to fully clear, and its natural your dermat's advice to continue treatment until symptoms disappear for an additional 2 weeks. Maintain good hygiene and follow up with your dermatologist if you have ongoing concerns or questions about your treatment. Seek a second opinion from a gynecologist

Often, a cluster of boils on the buttock region can be attributed to bacteria or immune system dysfunction. A trip to see a dermatologist or infectious disease specialist is an important consideration when trying to figure out the root cause of your problem.
