Comparing Phototherapy & Oral Meds for Vitiligo Treatment
What is the best treatment for vitiligo? Benifit between Pototherapy or oral medication for vitiligo treatment
Dermatologist
Answered on 11th Sept '24
Vitiligo makes your skin lose color in patches. Cells that produce pigment stop functioning, leading to white spots. Treatment choices are phototherapy and medicines. Phototherapy uses light to restore pigmentation. Oral medications help regain skin color. A dermatologist can recommend treatment after assessing your condition. Phototherapy and medication are effective options. Discuss with your doctor to choose the right approach.

My baby daughter whose age is 2 years and 10 months got some rashes ( without irritation/itching) two weeks back. Pediatrician recommended atarax, a to z syrup and one dose of ivermectin/albendazole syrup. They decreased for two days and again came on second day. Then he proposed predone syrup. They went away from then. After three to four days further we stopped medication as suggested by pediatrician. Now it is 14th day. Today morning again slight rashes appeared. But not like earlier. Should we wait for two more days so that they reduce themselves or consult a pediatrici dermatologist
Female | 3
The rash has been rightly treated with medications prescribed by the pediatrician. You can wait to see how the rash develops or goes away by itself in a few days

Please I haven’t been able to sleep properly or walk properly since two days And recently it’s gone worse I have a very very painful burning sensation that I feel on my scrotum and it is due to using that podophylin cream This pain is worse and unbearable I can’t move, I can’t lay down properly I can’t walk…please give me something for this pain
Male | 27
It appears as though you possibly have an extremely bad allergic reaction on your podophylin cream. I suggest that you go to a dermatologist immediately for an assessment and treatment.

I want to know the best skincare for a 27 year old lady with dry skin type. I am ready to use sunscreen, oil, peptides, supplements etc. I have been noticing fine lines around my eyes and blackheads near nose.
Female | 27
For fine lines around eyes: We first need to ascertain whether it is a static or a dynamic wrinkle. For static wrinkle, retinol-based creams or serums and polyhydroxy acids creams will do the job. And for Dynamic wrinkle, the only treatment option is Botulinum Toxin(BOTOX) Injections. Black heads, above creams will take care of the problem, if not then lasers might be required.

I have developed skin infection. It's white and reddish thick dry scaly itchy skin area.
Male | Shailesh Patel
You might be suffering from a fungal skin infection known as ringworm. Ringworm can turn your skin into white, reddish, thick, dry, and scaly. Apart from that, the skin can get very itchy. Ringworm is a type of fungus that spreads through skin-to-skin contact. To help get rid of ringworm, you can use antifungal cream. However, it would be best if you cleaned and dried the area.

Is psoriasis curable .how long does it take to cure . What are it’s symptoms . Which medicines can cure it.what are causes of psoriasis.is it infectious
Male | 26
Psoriasis is a skin condition that can't be cured but can be managed well. It causes red, scaly skin patches. These are often itchy or painful. Its exact cause is unknown. But it's thought to be linked to the immune system. Some medicines help control its symptoms. Like creams for the skin or pills taken by mouth. Psoriasis isn't contagious. You can't catch it from others. Working with a dermatologist is key. They'll help you find the treatment plan.

What can I use to clear the scars of jock itch...and also what to do so it doesn't come back?
Female | 19
A Jock itch is a skin swelling or rash that is caused by a fungus. For fading scars, use creams or ointments prescribed by a doctor. The area should be kept clean and dry. To avoid getting it again, wear loose clothes, change underwear daily, and do not share towels. Do not scratch the rash. If it fails to improve, consult a dermatologist.

I’m an 18 year old female, and last week on Friday/Saturday I started coming up in raised itchy bumps, it looks like a rash, but we presumed it was psorisis due to me having occasional ecsma so I’ve been using aquous cream etc but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be going is is spreading, so we think it may be a rash/allergic reaction now
Female | 18
You have a rash that is itchy and spreading to me. An allergic reaction or skin irritation might be the reason behind this. It's possible that what you touched earlier was triggering it. You should use anti-itch cream and stop scratching. Shouldn't it get better, a dermatologist will be better to talk to as they provide such services.

I suffering from ringworm from the last 4 months I have used so many creame but not use, can you please suggest powerful treatment for ringworm for short duration
Male | 18
Ringworm, an itchy skin issue, has troubled you for a while. It comes from a fungus. Red, scaly patches appear. Over-the-counter creams may fail to work well enough. Visiting a dermatologist is wise. They can prescribe stronger medication, like antifungal pills. These will clear the infection quickly and completely.

Lesions on pennis , like cuts and skin was ruptured
Male | 24
You might get them from rough handling during sex, infections, or any skin conditions. People get cuts on their penises in many ways. To heal them, you need to wash the area and protect it from getting irritated more. You can also use a plain skin cream without perfume in it. If it does not get better or it gets worse, see a dermatologist right away.

Female | 33
You may have a condition called eczema. Eczema can cause red, itchy patches with small water-filled blisters, especially on the hands. Switching to a new living environment can sometimes lead to skin reactions. Use a mild moisturizer, avoid harsh soaps, and wear gloves for hand protection. If the rash does not improve, it is important to consult a dermatologist for further assistance.

Skin care products for dark dry skin types
Female | 20
When dry, dark skin feels tight or rough, itchiness happens sometimes. This dryness arises due to cold air, harsh soaps, and lack of water. Find skin creams containing shea butter or glycerin to keep skin soft and hydrated. Hyaluronic acid also helps. Use sunscreen always and drink lots of water. Hot showers damage by stripping natural oils away from the skin. So they're best avoided.

I am a 21 year old female. I have a painless neck cyst of in the left size below ear of about pea size for 4-5 years. What should I do?
Female | 21
Such cysts can grow on your neck due to the blockage in the glands. It has been there for an elapsed time and no significant pain has occurred. That is probably nothing to worry about given the duration of its time there and the fact it is asymptomatic. Still, I strongly believe that expert attention from a doctor is needed.

Hi, My little finger got injured a few days back. There was no cut or bleeding but there was pus coming from it for couple of days. I did not use any medicine. Now it heeled completely and I do not have any pain. But the fingernail is starting to come off. What should I do?
Male | 24
Your finger got an infection and that’s why there was pus. The pus most likely helped to fight off the infection in your body though. Once your finger has healed, it’s common for the nail to come off occasionally. A new one will grow back. Keep the area clean and covered. However, if it looks infected again or you are worried about anything else then it’s always best to get it checked out by a dermatologist.
