Do Combined Pills Prevent Ovulation Effectively?
does combined birth control pills really stop ovulation
Gynecologist/Obstetrician
Answered on 22nd Aug '24
Yes, combined birth control pills, the combination of which are effective at inhibiting ovulation and therefore each month doesn't release any eggs, do this by stopping ovulation. This also makes it more difficult for sperm to swim to the egg. Mucus production in the vagina is one of the reasons why the egg is not reached by sperm. By this means of contraception, the chance of becoming pregnant decreases. They work well if the rules are strictly followed. Make sure to take the pills every day as prescribed and you will be protected. Don't hesitate to consult your gynecologist if there is anything that worries you or if you experience any side effects.

I am not confirmed that I am pregnant, but my first period after pregnancy came late and I have not had my period since last one month: what is the reason?
Female | 21
Your body may be changing. If you are not pregnant, your period can be late for many reasons such as stress or hormonal changes. This may lead to irregular cycles. Look out for other symptoms you may experience. If your period does not return within a few months or if you have other concerns, it would be best to talk to a gynecologist who will give you advice according to your specific needs.

Late period, negative pregnancy test, could there be something else wrong?
Female | 23
Your hormones might be out of balance. Those problems can mess up your menstrual cycle. Late periods can happen due to thyroid issues too. Polycystic ovary syndrome is another possible cause. If your period stays away for a while, and other symptoms pop up, talk to your gynecologist to figure out the reason behind the delay.

Female | 20
You probably have a yeast infection. Yeast infections may be characterized by vaginitis and such symptoms as itchiness, pain, and discharge (whitish color, worm-like) in the vagina. On the bright side, yeast infections are common and can be easily treated with over-the-counter antifungal creams or tablets. It is necessary to avoid using sweet-scented products and wear cotton underwear to assist in the prevention of future infections.

White discharge and difficulty in gaining weight could be due to an underlying infection or hormonal imbalance. Stomach infections can also affect nutrient absorption, leading to weight issues. It’s important to consult a gynecologist for the white discharge and a gastroenterologist for the stomach infection. They can guide you with the right treatment based on your symptoms.

I have missed my periods for three months
Female | 17
Missing periods for 3 months isn't normal. Stress causes irregular cycles. Big weight gain or loss disrupts hormones. Conditions like PCOS prevent normal ovulation. You might feel tired, bloated, moody. If issues continue, see a gynecologist for medical guidance.

i am a 20yr old female, i had sex a week and a half ago and he thinks he got my pregnant. we used condoms. i had my period two weeks ago. i am experiencing cramping, nausea, dizziness, and fatigue
Female | 20
Cramps, dizziness, feeling sick and tired are signs of many things, not just being pregnant. So you are less likely to be pregnant if it was only two weeks ago when your last period started and you used condoms. These symptoms could also be brought on by stress, changes in what you eat, or any illness. Anyway ensure that you drink lots of water, eat properly and rest enough. If these symptoms persist consult a gynecologist.

I have chlamydia and I took pills for it but I don’t go away. How long does it take to go away? And is it normal to have blood and discharge and smell still?
Female | 23
If you’ve taken chlamydia pills and are still seeing blood, discharges, and smelling, then understand that symptoms may not disappear immediately. Chlamydia could persist if the treatment did not work. In some cases, another round of drugs might be necessary to clear it fully. Contact a gynecologist for more advice.

Having yeastinfections that recurring every 2 month.i have try candid-v, fluconoazole.
Female | Khadiza
This is how yeast infections occur: when a fungus called Candida grows too much. Itching, burning, and unusual discharge are all symptoms. Tight clothes, antibiotics, and being immunocompromised can all cause them. You can prevent having so many yeast infections by wearing cotton underwear, not douching, and eating right. If they persist, visit a gynecologist.
