Why hasn't my fever above 103 & 104 reduced after taking Calpol last night?

Answered on 27th Aug '24
A fever of 103 to 104 indicates an infection, such as the flu, a bacterial infection, or a urinary tract infection. Taking Calpol can help, but if it doesn't, you might need a different medication. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids, rest, and stay cool. If the fever doesn't decrease, seek medical help.

ears are blocked and my tinnitus is worse
Female | 27
I would suggest ENT specialist visit if you are suffering from blocked ears and severely hearing tinnitus. These hints could be signals of underlying problems like earwax overgrowth, ear infection, ear disorder, or hearing loss. One should get a proper diagnosis from his or her doctor to avoid developing into a more severe disease and to ensure proper treatment for it.

Hi I've been experiencing severe insomnia for some days now and everytime I go to sleep I just lie there. When its during the day I think about going to sleep that when I eventually go to sleep I don't sleep at all. I don't have access to a psychatrist and I've just bought sleeping meds to take today- please help
Female | 29
I cannot recommend any medications online.. however, there are some self help techniques you can try. Find a consistent sleep schedule, create a sleep friendly environment, practice relaxation techniques, limit screen time before bed and establish a bedtime routine. Self medication is not recommended so it's best to seek professional medical advice.

my grandfather has been on petrinoeal dialysis for 3 years now, he is bed ridden and 92 years old, and has heart conditions, can we get an estimate of his survival days,so we as a family can get a better picture and be better prepared?
Male | 92
It is not easy to estimate a patient's survival days as they vary. It is prudent to look for advice from your grandfather's doctor who is a sub-specialist in nephrology and cardiology. They may give you a more exact status on his condition and sometimes they can also tell you about the possible complications.

Hello, I have had a sore throat for 9 days my nose and mouth have been sore also, I have been on antibiotics for 5 days . It hurts me to swollow anything.
Female | 61
Maybe the antibiotics you have been taking for the last 5 days are not effective in controlling the infection resulting in your sore throat. I advice you to get an ENT consultation in order to get the correct diagnosis. They may recommend another antibiotic or to explore other treatment options and manage symptoms for you. Do not delay getting treatment of your problems with swallowing as this may aggravate matters.

Female | 7
Consuming uncooked rice isn't ideal, but stay calm. It might have bacteria or toxins, leading to tummy troubles. Watch for signs like stomachache, throwing up, or loose poop. If any occur, consult a doctor for guidance. For now, ensure she drinks lots of water and relaxes.
