If you have been using protection during intercourse, then do not worry too much it is not always a sign of being pregnant. But if you are still worried, take a pregnancy test just to be sure everything is okay. 

Menstruation without any pain or cramps is absolutely normal. Bleeding can vary from person to person and usually periods last between 3 - 5 days.

If you are not getting your periods on time then do consult the gynecologist. This may be due to different reasons such as stress, hormonal imbalance or underlying medical conditions. 

Variation from cycle to cycle in reproductive bleeding is not unusual. On the contrary, light bleeding periods may serve as an indication of some underlying medical condition such as hormonal imbalance or thyroid disorders and polycystic ovary syndrome. You should consult a gynaecologist, who will analyze your symptoms and provide an appropriate treatment.
