Will a contraceptive pill protect me post-period start?
I began taking the contraceptive pill Hana on 8th June before my period has started and wanted to know how long before I am protected
Gynecologist/Obstetrician
Answered on 16th Aug '24
When you start taking the contraceptive pill, there’s something you should know: it won’t protect you right away. It takes about seven days to start working. While you’re waiting for it to kick in, make sure to use an extra form of protection such as condoms so that pregnancy doesn’t occur. Some people may get mild side effects like headaches or feeling sick when they first try this type of birth control but these usually go away with time if taken properly.

I am a 25 year old female got backache and stomach ache a lot, even when I have sex my stomach hurts and my muscles hurt a lot
Female | 25
These symptoms can be a result of endometriosis. The situation is triggered when tissue similar to the lining of a uterus is developed outside of the uterus. In such a way, one may feel pain during the periods, sexual intercourse, and during excretion. The complete test can determine if you have it, the best approach would be to consult a gynecologist for the diagnosis and treatment.

I had normal delivery and 18 stitches.insert copper t during delivery time.delivery month is October. I am not check the copper t. Which time to remove copper t?
Female | 27
The usual recommendation for copper T is an annual check-up. Later, as you have not gotten it checked, you better get it out now. Not to worry, the non-check-up may be the source of the infection or the discomfort in the future. Safety and ease with it are the hallmarks. Get in touch with a gynecologist.

Hi doctors i m 7 weeks pregnant and i wanted to abort this pregnancy.i decided to abort it on 7 of May so should i start taking mifepristone from now on or should i take it on 7 itself and what will be doses of mifepristone and misopristone?
Female | 25
If you want to end a pregnancy at seven weeks, you should start the process on May 7th. First, you will take a pill called mifepristone. This is usually one dose. Next, you will take another pill called misoprostol to finish the procedure. Your gynecologist will tell you how much of each pill to take. You may have cramps and bleeding, which is normal.

Iam 22 years old ..i have irregular periods problem since i get matured... I don't even have any other diseases such as thyroid or pcod...i consulted doctors too...they recommend me for "premolut N" medicine...when ever I taking this tablet then only periods are coming every month... otherwise I don't get periods.please recommend me perfect medicine for this..
Female | 22
In my opinion, you should go to see a gynecologist in order to diagnose your problem and to receive a proper treatment. Different causes of irregular periods include stress, weight changes, hormonal imbalances,or underlying diseases. Diagnosis of root cause should be made, before any medicine is given. Hence, I suggest you see a gynecologist who will advise you properly.

I am trying to conceive but see some spotting or period not sure but got it 5 days before my normal period cycle with mild stomach pain periodically. What could this be?
Female | 34
It may also be implantation bleeding and cramping, which happens when a fertilized egg implants in the uterus. Yet these symptoms may be common in other diseases. It is advisable to see a gynecologist or an obstetrician to be sure of your health status and care.

Female | 27
Leucorrhea is a condition involving abnormal discharge from the vagina. This can lead to back and belly pain. Fibroids in the uterus, likely uterine fibroids, might also cause these symptoms. You should see a gynecologist for proper diagnosis and treatment. They may prescribe medication to help manage your condition.

I'm 32 yrs old.. now I'm 6 weeks pregnant with second baby... My scan report impression is adenomyosis of the uterus. Any complications in it.
Female | 32
Adenomyosis is when the lining of the uterus, also known as the endometrium, grows into the muscles of the uterus. It could lead to severe cramping during periods and heavy bleeding. During pregnancy, it may cause discomfort and preterm birth. Doctors determine treatment based on symptoms and may recommend pain relief medication, hormone therapy, or, in the most serious cases, surgery. Be sure to talk to a gynecologist about your concerns.

The day my period was due I did foreplay on that day, now my period is not coming after that.
Female | 18
Stress, alterations in routine, or hormonal imbalances can affect your cycle. At times, periods can be delayed for a few days. In the case of still not having a period for a week, then take a pregnancy test to make sure that it is not a pregnancy. However, the most important is to take care of yourself and be calm.

I'm a 32 year old woman who had an IUI a week ago. Today is 7 days post IUI, and I'm curious about what to expect. Can you share some info on what might be happening or any symptoms I should be aware of at this stage?
Female | 32
It is normal to feel slight cramping or spotting and light bleeding in the first week following IUI. Nevertheless, each woman’s body is unique and it would be best to seek an individual recommendation from your gynecologist or fertility specialist. They will show you the correct way to go and answer any questions or concerns that may arise.

I got a Pap smear on Wednesday(06/05) and im still spotting(06/08) is that normal?
Female | 21
Bleeding a bit after a Pap smear is perfectly normal so don’t be scared. Your body may be a little sensitive from the test. The cervix can be touched with a swab and this may cause some spotting too. If the bleeding is light and goes away within a few days, there’s usually nothing to worry about. Be sure to drink lots of water and get some rest. If it’s heavy or lasts longer than a few days then contact a gynecologist.

Do ipill delay periods? How effective is an ipill tablet when taken between 48-72 hours? And for how long can they delay periods and when should I opt for a preg. Test? After sex, she got her periods after 3-4 days (for 3 days which is normal in her case) and they were painless this time with clots. Was that the withdrawal bleeding? It's been a month and 7 days since last that last bleeding and she hasn't got her periods yet. Is it a possible pregnancy? (p.s sex happened on the day she was supposed to get her periods)
Female | 20
Does ipill delay periods? Yes if taken properly as prescribed periods delay due to ipill. The effectiveness of the i-pill decreases the longer you wait to take it and taking it within 48-72 hours is the most effective time frame. If your concerned do a pregnancy test around 2-3 weeks after the date of the last unprotected intercourse. This will give the most accurate result.

My last period was on 26 th April and I have sex on 8th May after that I got little bleed now I am very scared , I don't if I got pregnant or not as I don't want, and I am on no medication
Female | 27
The spotting you had can be from implantation bleeding- when a fertilized egg attaches itself to the uterus wall. It sometimes results in light bleeding which is mistaken for a period. Take a home pregnancy test just to be sure. You can purchase it from a drugstore and follow the instructions. It’s the easiest way to confirm whether you are pregnant or not. If you are still not sure, visit a gynecologist.

Female | 20
Considering your signs and positive pregnancy test, I can't exclude the idea that you are carrying a baby. These signs, you know, such as headache, rapid heartbeat, nausea, and bloating are typical in early gestation. The most important thing is to visit a gynecologist for proper diagnosis and treatment.

list of medicine to stop menstrual bleeding
Female | 25
If you experience heavy menstrual bleeding, it may be due to hormone imbalances, fibroids, or certain medications. Symptoms include quickly soaking through pads or tampons, feeling tired or weak from blood loss, or having periods longer than a week. To reduce bleeding, your doctor may recommend medications like tranexamic acid or NSAIDs, which help decrease blood loss. It's important to talk openly with your gynecologist about your symptoms, as there are several treatment options available.

Female | 21
Spotting between periods can occur for many reasons. Hormonal shifts may cause it. Infections could also lead to spotting. Certain medications might also be the cause. Stress is another potential reason for spotting to happen. To determine the specific cause, a visit to a gynecologist is recommended.

Doctor I’m worried if I have cancer I have bilateral endometrial cyst I did ca-125 which is 46.1 it is showing shd I do any further test and it is normal I have vit d deficiency as well
Female | 28
So let's make it clear that a bilateral endometrial cyst does not necessarily mean cancer. A CA-125 level of 46.1 could be slightly raised, but this is not a cancer marker test. People with endometrial cysts can feel pelvic pain as well as experience atypical bleeding. Poor Vitamin D levels are the most common, and this can be handled with vitamin supplements. You should consult a gynecologist for additional tests and treatments.

So she had sex on 15th of jan which was 4th day of her periods and her partner didnt ejaculated at all and she took pills with 40hrs and got heavy bleeding after two days of taking pills and today is 19th of feb and she hasnt gotten her periods yet . What does this mean?
Female | 18
If your partner did not cum and you had taken emergency contraceptive pills within 40 hours after sex during your period, the pregnancy is very unlikely to happen. Possibly the tablets should blame the bleeding you had rather than your period. You can visit the gynecologist if this area concerns you to get examined and counseled more.
