Why am I experiencing heavy bleeding on prescribed medication?

I went to a gynecologist on 11-11-2024. I was not diagnosed with PCOS but doctor told,i might be in earlier stages seeing the irregular period cycle He prescribed 1) norethistrone 10 mg(20 tablet, once a day 2) mefenamic acid 250 mg and tranexamic acid 500 mg (10 tablets, 2 tablets a day I skipped a few dose and had periods on November 20 early morning Then I started medicine on 21 on November again from where I left . But left again on 24 November. (Because at night i was not having periods due to effect of medicine but had heavy bleeding at daytime). Till now I'm on periods and I'm bleeding heavily since 20 November

It seems like you have a lot of bleeding that lasts longer than normal and it's very bad for you. The reasons for the irregular periods and heavy bleeding could be the hormonal imbalance in PCOS. Missing doses of the drugs which were prescribed might have led to the continuous bleeding. The medicine has to be taken on time and in the same way as the doctor has prescribed to control the bleeding. You should discuss with a gynecologist for proper treatment.

I am using vaginal pessaries since 3 days as I have yeast infection. But today I got my periods. Can i still use vaginal pessaries Or i should stop using it??

Female | 22

While menstruating, it's fine to continue using vaginal pessaries. Yeast infections may cause discomfort like itching, burning, and abnormal discharge. Pessaries deliver medication directly where needed, treating the infection. Follow usage instructions for pessaries during your period.

You need to get yourself checked by best gynecologist near you and let her decide for further course of action , also she might advice you to undergo a sonography and few hormonal tests , probably you might have PCOD.

Why is it that I am not getting my periods after having sex yet I took backup emergency pills

Emergency pills can alter menstrual cycle.. Common side effect. Some women may not get their period on time. Wait for at least a week or two. Take a pregnancy test to confirm. Consult with a medical professional if concerned.

Female | 34

BASED ON YOUR LAST PERIOD, you may be around 6-8 WEEKS PREGNANT.. However, ONLY AN ULTRASOUND can give you the exact DUE DATE.. It's important to SCHEDULE your FIRST PRENATAL APPOINTMENT with a HEALTHCARE PROVIDER and start TAKING PRENATAL VITAMINS.. AVOID SMOKING, ALCOHOL, and harmful MEDICATIONS.. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY, rest when needed, and MAINTAIN A HEALTHY DIET.... CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PREGNANCY!!

I had unprotected intercourse on May 5th and i took ipill on 7th May , but still I hvent got my periods so what should I do

Female | 17

After taking the i-pill on May 7th following unprotected intercourse, a delay in your period can occur due to the pill's hormonal effects. To address concerns, take a pregnancy test if your period is overdue.

Obesity, particularly central adiposity and insulin resistance are the main factors linked to NAFLD in PCOS. Existing data suggests that excess of androgen, the main feature of PCOS and is interconnected to insulin resistance, can be considered as additional causative factor in development of NAFLD.

Lifestyle changes include low-fat diet, weight loss and exercise are considered to be suitable for management of PCOS patients with NAFLD. In case pharmacologic therapy, metformin or pioglitazone and Vitamin A is usually prescribed.

I'm having brownish blood discharge after 5 months of c section is there any thing I need to work?

Female | 24

Brownish discharge after the c-section could be a symptom of infection or endometriosis. Talk to your gynecologist she may conduct a pelvic exam to diagnose the root cause of the pain and to offer you appropriate treatment.

My hymen is still not completely broken. Once I saw few drops of blood . But still the hymen is strong there. I had intercourse not a proper one and penis didn't enter into my vagina. But the sperms fell on my vagina and we still did 3 ,4 pushes. Will I be pregnant .

Female | 23

Even if complete insertion didn't occur, pregnancy remains a possibility since sperm can still reach the egg. Immediate symptoms might not manifest, but missed periods or breast tenderness could be early indicators. Taking a pregnancy test provides confirmation. It's important to understand that an intact hymen doesn't preclude pregnancy.

I used an emergency contraception about a month and a half ago, and found my self in a situation where I need to use one again now. In February I had a miscarriage and I’m just wondering how many times I can use emergency contraception, and if it’s okay to even after having a miscarriage. I have used probably about 6 in my life. Is there a limit to how many a woman can take? Will it affect my gynecological health?

Female | 21

Emergency contraception is intended for occasional and emergency use, not as a regular form of birth control. While there is no strict limit on how many times emergency contraception can be used, it's important to understand that it is not as effective or reliable as regular contraception methods.

Repeated use of emergency pills can disrupt hormonal balance in your body and cause irregularities in your menstrual cycle. It's recommended to speak personally with a gynec about more reliable and appropriate forms of contraception that can better suit your needs and provide ongoing protection.
