Is Fainting After Crying Normal For a 4-Year-Old?

My 4 year old daughter faints for a few seconds and falls to the ground after crying. Is that normal? Should I be concerned?

Answered on 28th June '24

Kids sometimes hold their breath while crying intensely. This causes a brief oxygen lapse, leading to fainting. It's common and typically harmless. Try calming your daughter when upset. Encourage slow, deep breaths to prevent fainting episodes. However, if the episodes persists or worsens, speak with your pediatrician

Hello doctor.... I have 3.5 months old baby....he is having watery eye and sometimes cough and from born is sneezing...and now he is passing green colour poop ....some times watery and some times normal....today I visited my family doctor he has suggested to give below tonics( fensivit complete and dha plus syrups? ... thought of asking you for further details and also please do provide good formula go my baby I am a working woman.

Male | 3.5

Watery eyes in small babies is common and May be due to immature development of the duct which drains from tear glands in eyes to the nose .
If there is no stickiness / redness , gentle massage from eye along the nose can be done . Breast fed babies and pass all types / colours of stools. Working mothers best option is to express and store breast milk. Additional feeds by formula available over the counter can be given

foaming while sleeping for my 3 year old

Female | 3

Foaming during slumber for a 3-year-old could stem from excess drooling. This occurrence is typical as teeth develop. At times, it may resemble foam. It doesn't usually signify a severe issue. Ensuring your child's head is slightly elevated while resting might alleviate the situation. Additionally, utilizing a soft pillowcase may absorb the drool. However, if your child exhibits breathing difficulties or persistent coughing, seeking medical attention is advisable.

Male | 5

If your son is frequently getting viral infections every month, it's important to consult a pediatrician. They can assess his immune system and overall health to determine if there are underlying causes or preventive measures that can be taken. A pediatrician specializing in infectious diseases can provide tailored advice and treatments to help strengthen his immunity and reduce the frequency of infections.

Male | 14

A lot of kids, even at age 14, go through bedwetting. Your body isn't controlling the bladder yet during sleep hours. Don't fret, most youngsters outgrow this issue eventually. You could try using the bathroom right before bedtime. Skip drinking liquids in the evening hours too. Speak with your doctor for extra advice to fix this.

My son is a year old and he fell during the night and bit the inside of his lower lip. He was bleeding but I managed to stop it, now it is swollen. I am scared, what can I do? I gave him painamol syrup for kids.

Male | 1

Your son has a common lip bite injury. Swelling is normal and should go down in a few days. To help with this, gently press a cold compress on the outside of his lip. Painamol can be effective for the pain. Keep an eye on him to ensure he can still eat and drink comfortably.

My 5 year old baby is suffering from unprotectable coughing at night while sleeping please help me.. how to control her cough.. she is unable to sleep continuously for 5 minutes

Female | 5

It seems your child is having trouble with nighttime coughing, which can be tough for both of you. This coughing might be due to throat or chest irritation. You can try using a humidifier to add moisture to the air, giving her warm drinks like water or herbal tea before bed, and slightly elevating her head while she sleeps. These steps may help reduce the coughing.
