Do I need contraception after tubectomy, even after 3 years?
My tubectomy was done three years ago. Do I still have to use contraceptive methods?

Gynecologist/Obstetrician
Answered on 10th Dec '24
A tubectomy is a permanent type of birth control that obstructs the fallopian tubes to hinder the pregnancy process. Despite its high rating, it is not completely foolproof; there is still a small risk of getting pregnant. In case of any signs like missed periods or abnormal bleeding, be advised to consult a gynecologist so that a possible issue may be excluded.

I missed my periods. Usually every month I got my periods on 19 but this month it's already 31 and I didn't got my periods.
Female | 23
Your period being late can be concerning, but try not to worry too much. Stress, weight fluctuations, or illness sometimes disrupt your cycle. If you've had sex, pregnancy is possible. Signs like nausea, sore breasts, and exhaustion may indicate pregnancy. To confirm, take a pregnancy test. If negative but still no period, consult a gynecologist to identify any potential problems.

It’s understandable to feel concerned when your menstrual cycle is irregular. Many factors can impact this, including stress, significant changes in weight, hormonal imbalances, or underlying health conditions. Symptoms can vary, but it's important to monitor any unusual signs. Addressing lifestyle factors like diet, physical activity, and stress management can be helpful. However, if your cycle doesn’t resume soon, I encourage you to consult a gynecologist. They can provide a thorough evaluation and appropriate guidance tailored to your situation.

Hi, so like two weeks ago i used norethisterone to delay my menstrual period, then i stopped after like 5 days and i started my period 3 days after stopping the norethisterone but ive been on my period for 1 week + now tho the past three days has been more of spotting i want to know if it's just the side effects of the norethisterone
Female | 22
It's common to experience irregular bleeding after taking norethisterone, as your body may need time to adjust to hormonal changes. Spotting following a heavier flow is usually a normal side effect. However, if your period lasts longer than a week, or if you have any discomfort, it would be wise to seek medical advice from gynecologist.

I had bleeding after 6 days of taking unwanted 72 but I got my last period on 26 January I do sexual intercourse on 2 February and then taking unwanted 72 on 3 February but today on 10 February I had much bleeding. I am very worried. Is it harmful? What can I do? Please help
Female | 20
Bleeding after taking emergency pills like Unwanted 72 is normal. Hormonal changes from the pill cause this bleeding. It may be heavier than your period. The pill can temporarily affect your cycle. But don't worry, this bleeding is usually harmless and will stop on its own. Use protection next time to avoid needing emergency pills. If bleeding lasts over a few days or you have severe pain, reach out to a gynecologist.

I just stopped my birth control pills and got my period. Its my 3rd day and my period blood is still very dark brown, the flow is light and i feel nausea and stomach pain. I cant be pregnant right?
Female | 18
One of the effects that can occur from ceasing to use birth control pills is a change in your menstrual cycle. Dark color of blood flow occurring during periods may be associated with old non-excreted blood. Stomach pain and nausea may not be connected to the menstrual cycle. Such symptoms should be referred to the gynecologist for evaluation and management.
