Ichthyosis can create a scaly texture that looks like fish scales. It can make the skin acquire the form of dryness, i.e., thicker and appear through the outside. It's a genetic cause, so it's possible to be inherited. The best treatment for ichthyosis is avoiding situations that can trigger it. It does not have any cure; however, some moisturizers can decrease dryness. It is important to go to a dermatologist for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

I recently was diagnosed with syphilis and I'm got blood work done today to confirm whether I have it or not. But I think I have to because I have red marks on the back of my hands, a tiny bruise on my lip but nothing on my private area. It does hurt sometimes though. My question is, is this curable and if so, once cured am I able to create a baby with my future wife without any problems? Thank tou

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease due to the fact of bacteria. It is curable with antibiotics, however, the course of treatment must be followed to prevent a recurrence. It would be suited that you go see a sexually transmitted infections doctor, such as a dermatologist or a urologist, and discuss the treatment options as well as the possible issues.

I'm having big stretch marks on body.
Female | 20
Stretch marks are common and appear when the skin is stretched significantly. They can be purple, red, or silver, depending on how long they’ve been there. Causes include rapid growth, weight changes, and pregnancy. Solutions include using moisturizers, and creams, and maintaining a healthy weight. While they usually fade over time, they may not completely disappear.

I'm getting more pimples and marks on my face nowadays
Female | 23
This problem is called acne which is common among many people. It is caused by clogging of hair follicles with oil and dead skin cells. At times, hormonal changes or genetics can also contribute to its occurrence. To clear up your skin, you can wash it gently using your hands only. Avoid scrubbing too hard as this could worsen the condition. Select non-comedogenic moisturizers that won’t block pores while keeping the face hydrated throughout the day. Alternatively, consult with a dermatologist for further advice on how best to treat this.

I am a 19 year old female. I have had a red patch on the inside of my upper lip for around 4 and a half weeks that hasn’t gone. Sometimes it’s painful, and it regularly tastes metallic. I’m not sure what this is or how to treat it
Female | 19
You may be dealing with a condition called oral lichen planus, which can cause painful red spots in your mouth that taste metallic. Don't worry, it's not contagious. The exact cause is unknown, it might be linked to the immune system. To ease the discomfort, avoid hot or sour foods and use mild mouth rinses while keeping your mouth clean. If these tips don't help or your symptoms worsen, make an appointment with a dermatologist to get a proper diagnosis and discuss further treatment options.

Every time I shave or use other hair removal techniques, I get strawberry legs. I don't want to consider laser hair removal. Is there any way I can get rid of the strawberry legs?
Female | 19
If you have strawberry legs after hair removal technique or shaving your hair and specially when you don't want to go for laser hair removal then cleaning your hairs/legs with betadine or savlon before shaving and after shaving apply after-shave, betadine or savlon and then applying anti-inflammatory cream containing mild steroids and antibiotic might help to reduce the chances of strawberry legs. If the problem persists then please visit dermatologist.

Can an itchy rash with raised white bumps on the arms (which flatten a bit and turn more red with mometosone after itching) be scabies instead of eczema? What about if at the same time on the belly there is a flat rash of red dots?
Female | 19
An itchy red rash with raised bumps may indicate scabies, not eczema. Scabies result from tiny mites burrowing into the skin, prompting itchiness and bumps. Red dots on your belly also suggest scabies spread. Visiting a dermatologist is crucial for proper diagnosis. They can prescribe medicines killing mites, and relieving itchiness. Scabies requires medical attention, unlike typical eczema.

I am having severe hairfall. I have tried homeopathy and ashwagandha, but no results. What should I do??
Female | 23
Homeopathy may work for some people, but not necessarily everyone.
I will advice you to get your Trichoscpic examination done which will help in getting to the root cause of your problem. Persistent hair fall is a multifactorial condition which requires scalp lotions, some nutritional supplementation and some appropriate shampoos along with therapies. My Grandmother is Bedridden for past 4 years. For past 1 month she is having Bedsores in between the shoulder blades which measures around 5×5 cm. Initially we did dressing and it healed leaving a black scar. But for past 2 days we noticed pus discharge from one edge of the scar with foul smell. Inside the scar it is fluctuant. My questions are :- 1. Do we have to remove the entire scar and do the dressing or through the opening in the edge of the scar irrigating and giving antibiotic wash along with betadine gauze packing in the abscess cavity is enough? 2. To prevent further bed sores which bed is good? Water bed or Air Bed?
Female | 92
As for the wound, it is crucial to clean it well and cover it with antibiotic gauze. This is the way it can be healed. Concerning the prevention of further sores, both water beds and air beds are useful by alleviating the pressure on her skin. Be sure to move her body every so often so that she doesn't get too much pressure in one spot. This will also help to prevent more bedsores.

Female | 19
The skin might have become green due to Pityriasis versicolor, a fungal infection. This occurs when the skin produces too much oil or sweat. Keep your skin dry and clean, and use antifungal creams if necessary. If that doesn’t help, it’d be best to consult a dematologist.

Male | 33
A breakout on your bum can arise due to sweat, friction, or clogging pores with bacteria. To minimize acne, wear loose-fitting clothes, shower after driving, and use a mild facial cleanser. As other options, develop a habit of consulting with the pharma about the medications selected. It may help you reduce the symptoms.

This may occur as a result of the pores being clogged, which may then cause infections. Clean and dry the area properly to avoid further damage. Do not pick or pop the pimple as it may aggravate the situation. Consult a dermatologist for proper treatment.

Creamy cleanser( low level of PH) will be good for skin that is dry and for part of your skin that is oily(nose) foaming cleanser will be good. But use moisturizer later. I hope this proved helpful.

I have face acne something like white watery pimples on my face from past few days
Female | 22
Your face seems to have clear, fluid-filled pimples - a kind of acne. Acne develops when oil and dead cells obstruct hair follicles. Hormonal changes, stress, or oily skincare products trigger it. Gently wash your face twice daily with a mild cleanser, avoiding squeezing pimples. Try over-the-counter benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid acne treatments. Drink lots of water. Eat a balanced diet for healthy skin. If acne persists, consult a dermatologist for guidance.

I am 21 years old and having forehead acne only and no acne on other part of face and my doctor suggested me isotretinoin should I take it or they are for severe acne?
Female | 21 years
Forehead acne is quite common. It can be because of the sebum the skin makes too much as it gets plugged and distresses the follicles. Isotretinoin is mainly used for the treatment of severe acne, so if your doctor has recommended it, it may indicate that your acne has become more severe and chronic. Make sure you are listening to your doctor and feel free to express your worries if you have any.

I have too many blemishes on my face
Male | 17
Blemishes can be frustrating, yet they're normal and treatable. Spots or tiny bumps on the skin are classified as blemishes. Clogged pores, bacteria, or hormone fluctuations might cause these. Gently cleansing your face regularly helps. Applying benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid products could improve things. However, avoid popping or squeezing blemishes to prevent scars. If the issue persists, consult a dermatologist for guidance.
