It is not yet proven if acetylcholine levels can be increased. However, according to some studies, consuming choline, a nutrient, could help. Foods that contain choline are meat, fish, eggs, beans, cruciferous vegetables, whole grains, dairy products, nuts and seeds.

In which disorder are acetylcholine receptor antibodies?

A

Aranya Doloi

Answered on 23rd May '24

Acetylcholine receptor antibody is a type of protein usually found in the blood of people with myasthenia gravis. The antibody affects the sending of signals from nerves to muscles. The presence of acetylcholine receptor antibodies confirms the diagnosis of myasthenia gravis. Almost half the people with ocular myasthenia gravis also have this antibody in their bodies. However, the lack of this antibody is not enough to rule out myasthenia gravis. About 1 in 5 people with  myasthenia gravis have no signs of this antibody.

Answered on 23rd May '24

Though there are a lot of similarities between a stroke and a seizure,  there are some noteworthy differences between the two conditions. Please check the table below to know the difference between a stroke and a seizure.

DifferencesStrokeSeizures
Nature of the ConditionThe brain stops functioning in a strokeThe brain simply overreacts in a seizure
CausesA stroke can cause a seizureA seizure cannot cause a stroke
Effects on the bodyA stroke can, in most cases, lead to paralysis ,and in one out of ten cases, death. For seizures, there is hardly any damage to the body, and death only happens in rare cases.
Method of treatmentThe most effective way to fight a stroke is to find the cause of it and tackle it accordingly. For seizures, anti-seizure medications are the most popular and recommended treatment choice.
SymptomsMost symptoms of stroke and seizures overlap, but facial drooping is one such symptom that is experienced only in stroke. Facial drooping is not a symptom of seizures.

When can I drive after a stroke?

1 Answer

Answered on 23rd May '24

Reputed neurosurgeons recommend waiting for at least one month after a mini-stroke and then resume driving for better brain healing. For massive strokes, the wait is longer.

But in either case, it is advisable to first obtain your doctor’s consent before driving again.

My mother is having MND and currently is on ventilator support. Can you share the cost of this treatment? Also will this treatment be good to do in this old age and on ventilator.

The cost of MND treatment varies as per the country and the specific medical facility. It usually ranges from 6,800 to 13,400 USD, with each cycle priced at around 2,000 USD.

And whether this treatment is appropriate for your mother on ventilator support, discuss the potential benefits and risks with the doctors and consider the patient's overall health and wishes.

The jerking movement sensations are a side effect of the antidepressant medication.Talk to your doctor they may recommend adjusting your dose or switching to a different medication. Donb't stop taking antidepressants without medical supervision as the discontinuation can lead to withdrawal symptoms.
