Growth plates are­ special areas in children's bone­s. They allow the bones to grow longe­r. An X-ray can show if a child's growth plates are still open. This me­ans the child is still growing taller. Some signs of proble­ms with growth plates are pain, swelling, or one­ limb being longer than the othe­r. Growth plate issues can happen afte­r injuries. They can also be cause­d by certain medical conditions. Treatme­nt depends on what is wrong. It may involve re­sting the area, doing physical therapy e­xercises, or sometime­s surgery.

If it’s getting swollen and larger, it’s advisable to wear comfortable shoes and apply ice to reduce swelling. In some cases, surgery may be necessary if it’s very painful.

Your mom may have peripheral edema, which can cause swelling in her legs. For example, sitting still for too long can cause fluid to accumulate in her legs, leading to swelling. This happens because sitting reduces blood circulation. When she's at home and moving around, the swelling reduces because movement helps the fluid flow back up. Encouraging her to take short walks or do leg exercises while at the shop can help reduce the swelling.

R: The importance of rest cannot be overstated. In order for the fracture to heal faster limit yourself from further pressure on the foot. 

A cast will most likely be worn to keep the foot and ankle immobile.  In case of severe soft tissue swelling, a cast may be required for the first three to five days. The brace must be worn for six weeks in order to allow the fracture to heal. Cast fixation with off-loading is advised for poor bone quality depending on the radiography report.  

Ice: For reducing the swelling and inflammation, apply ice to the region for 20 minutes at a time.

 And continue further for every 40 minutes.

Compression: Wrapping the area in a bandage helps to reduce swelling.

Elevation: To assist reduce inflammation, lift your foot and ankle slightly above the level of your heart.
