Tip of nose still swollen 1 year after rhinoplasty, what to do?

Female | 28

Experiencing some residual swelling at the tip of the nose one year after rhinoplasty can be normal in certain cases. While the majority of swelling typically subsides within the first few months following the procedure, it's not uncommon for minor swelling to persist, particularly in the tip area, for a longer period of time.

Several factors can contribute to the persistence of swelling at the tip of the nose after one year such as Skin thickness, Surgical technique used, etc. If you're experiencing persistent swelling at the tip of your nose one year after rhinoplasty, it's recommended to consult with your surgeon for an evaluation. They will be able to assess your condition, determine the cause of the swelling, and provide appropriate guidance. In the meantime, here are a few things you can consider:

  1. Follow-up appointment: Schedule a follow-up appointment with your surgeon to discuss your concerns and have a thorough examination. They will be able to determine if the swelling is a normal part of the healing process or if it requires further intervention.
  2. Be patient: Swelling after rhinoplasty can take a significant amount of time to completely resolve. It's not uncommon for residual swelling to persist for up to a year or even longer in some cases. Allow your body ample time to heal, as the final results of rhinoplasty can take several months to become fully apparent.
  3. Avoid trauma: Take care to protect your nose from any trauma or injury during the healing process. Even minor accidents can cause additional swelling or affect the final outcome of your rhinoplasty.
  4. Follow post-operative instructions: Ensure that you are following all post-operative instructions provided by your surgeon. This may include specific care for managing swelling, such as avoiding strenuous activities, refraining from excessive sun exposure, and avoiding certain medications that can increase swelling.
  5. Massage: Your surgeon may recommend gentle massage techniques to help reduce swelling at the tip of the nose. However, it's crucial to follow their specific instructions, as improper techniques or excessive force can have adverse effects.
  6. Consider corticosteroid injections: In some cases, your surgeon may recommend corticosteroid injections to help reduce persistent swelling. These injections can help reduce inflammation and promote healing.

Remember, the advice provided here is general, and it's important to consult with your surgeon for personalized guidance based on your unique situation.

Female | 37

you will experience some residual swelling and bruising at the 6th week post tummy tuck. It is still necessary to refrain from vigorous exercise and heavy lifting during this period. In order to achieve full recovery and the best results, I suggest that you visit your plastic surgeon who conducted this operation.

How long after rhinoplasty can i sleep on my side?

Male | 65

It’s usually recommended not to sleep on your side for the first few weeks after rhinoplasty. The reason for this is to prevent accidental pressure or movement that can affect the healing nasal structures. It is crucial to follow your surgeon’s set of postoperative care instructions as recovery times for individuals vary. Normally after the first weeks, you can slowly switch to sleeping on your side with consent of the surgeon. Elevating your head with extra pillows during sleep can help reduce swelling and promote a more smooth recovery. Never blindly follow the general advice given to rhinoplasty patients without consulting your surgeon because individualizing recommendations are important for your recovery

Hi. I am 46 years old mother of 2 children aged 13 and 4yrs. In September 2021 I got liposuction and tummy tuck done. After 6 weeks of wearing the prescribed compression garments and daily massages post surgery, I started noticing big, hard eruptions on my stomach area. Some are red and some are very painful. The doctor punctured one of the eruptions to see if any fluid came out but it did not. He then ask me to use Tbac and put me on anti inflammatory medicine+ flexon. Then one day from the eruption i noticed a pus like fluid. Went to the doctor again. A pus culture was done. No bacteria found. Doctor said looks like it is a suture issue with my body not being able to get rid of the dissolvable stitches. He gave me tricort injections on the hard lumps. Now almost 3 weeks later, some are better but new large and painful ones have also formed. Please advise your thoughts on this and what you feel could be wrong. I am very worried.

How can I reduce my breast I have a big breast and small buttocks

Female | 17

I would recommend for you to visit a plastic surgeon who specializes in breast reduction surgery. This technique includes removal of too much breast tissue and reshaping the rest to create a more balanced figure. But it has to be mentioned that any operation carries the risk of complications and side effects. Hence the discussion on the pros and cons of the breast reduction surgery should be made with a professional specialist before making a final decision.
