can cervical cancer cause b12 deficiency
can cervical cancer cause b12 deficiency?
Gynecologist
Answered on 23rd May '24
No, cervical cancer does not directly cause B12 deficiency. However, some cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy, may affect the absorption of vitamin B12 in the body, leading to a deficiency. It is important to monitor B12 levels in cancer patients undergoing treatment and supplement as necessary to prevent deficiency.

Cervical cancer itself does not directly cause vitamin B12 deficiency. But, the overall health status and dietary intake of individuals with cervical cancer can influence their nutritional status, including vitamin B12 levels.

Hello, I had a doubt, can continuous use of Inhalers and Asthma drugs cause lung cancer?
As per my understanding you are having asthma and is regularly using asthma drugs like inhaler etc, and wants to know whether it will cause lungs cancer. Several studies have shown that chronic inflammation in the lungs caused due to asthma may be a factor in causing lung cancer. That means when asthma, is combined with other causes, may increase the risk of lung cancer. Consult a pulmonologist, who on evaluating the patient will help you to identify the risk factor in your case. Hope our answer helps you.

Ive always had discharge for as long as I can remember and at my 8 week postpartum checkup the doctor checked me but said it wasn’t alarming because it’s not bothering me. I am currently 4 months postpartum and noticed I was getting discharge that had a slight odour and the discharge left rashes between my thighs and it got to the point I couldn’t wear underwear because the discharge would get more and I keep getting rashes. I noticed it getting a little bit better when I stopped wearing underwear the smell was still slightly fishy but not too terrible like before but recently after sexual intercourse I bled a little. Now google says it’s either the C word or some infection. I’m aware I should go doctor right away but I’m just not able to do so , my last two screenings for cervical cancer with my Pap smear came negative it was in 2018 and 2021. What’s the reason I bled?
Female | 27
Postpartum, it is normal to discharge but rashes and odor can prove an infection. Sex-related bleeding is not normal and may indicate a problem. This is why it’s important to go and see a doctor so that they can rule out any serious conditions. Cervical cancer screenings are also significant, but they do not detect all problems. If you are experiencing symptoms, do not waste time before seeing a doctor.

I am writing for my father's treatment. He has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in April 2018. He had gone through 6 cycles of of Alimta and carboplatin till October and then two cylces of Alimta only till December 2018. Up to October, he was doing great, had no side effects and his tumor size went down. After that he became very fatigued and also his tumor size increased significantly. In January 2019, Doctor put him on Docetaxel and so far he is doing good with no side effect. But, we would like to continue his treatment in your reputed hospital. I have attached his initial PET scan (April 2018) and recent PET scan (January 2019) along with few other CT scan. I appreciate if you could suggest me the doctor for his treatment and help me getting the appointments. Also, it would be very helpful if you can give me idea about the expenses. Since he will be coming from Bangladesh, it will take time to get visa and arrange rest of the stuff. Currently I am in Canada and planning to join him during his initial treatment at your hospital, preferably in March.

Is any free cancer treatment hospitals in Andhra Pradesh available?
Female | 49
Free cancer treatment is given in Andhra Pradesh only to those who have a domicile of origin in the state. In 2020, Andhra Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced the Aarogyasri scheme that aims at providing medical treatment to those whose annual income is below INR 5,00,000. The healthcare scheme will cover around 2059 medical ailments, including cancer. Beyond this, there are many hospitals in India that offer free cancer treatment to those in need. These hospitals are some of the best in the country and have a commendable record at successfully treating cancer patients every year.

I am suffering from severe stomach pain due to colon cancer stage 4, any medicine for pain relief
Male | 53
This pain occurs because the tumor is pressing on your belly inside. To relieve it, the doctor can prescribe you stronger drugs than those sold in the drugstore. These medicines are designed to ease the pain and make you comfortable. Keep telling your doctor how you feel so that they can change the medication when necessary to control the pain effectively.

My father was diagnosed with Esophageal cancer 5 years back and treated with surgery and chemo in Chennai. He was cancer free. But he was recently diagnosed with gastric cancer at an early stage. Doctor asked it is curable but we are anxious cause he is 69 and we really don't know whether he can take this trauma. Please suggest a good hospital in Chennai that is good for Gastric cancer
In very early cancers I.e stage 1 mucosal - just an excision from inside the stomach is needed. It can be done endoscopically without any sutures or scars. However if it is slightly advanced, then the surgery will be a bit complex as he already has undergone surgery for the esophagus. However if the disease is limited, he should definitely undergo treatment for the stomach cancer .

My brother has liver tumor he went through surgery but doctors said there is small amount of tumor left which cant be removed through surgery.my question is will it be removed by radiation therapy/chemotherapy?
Male | 19
Radiation therapy and chemotherapy are treatment options that can help shrink liver tumors. But the effectiveness of these treatments depends on various factors such as the size and location of the remaining tumor, and the overall health of the patient. It is best to consult with an oncologist to determine the most appropriate course of treatment for your brother's condition.

Hi, I have a doubt, is there any specific reason for which immunotherapy is not recommended in the early stages of any cancer?
Chemotherapy works by stopping or blocking cancer cells from growing and immunotherapy works by boosting up a patient's immune system to find and then attack cancer. Though immunotherapy is gaining popularity but still it is in growing stage.
Chemotherapies have been key to cancer treatment from a very long time with all established and compiled data regarding the effects and side effects thus making doctors more confident about it in comparison to immunotherapy which is still newer. But gradually it is proving itself in some cancers as preferred line of treatment. Consult an oncologist for clear understanding.
Hope our answer helps you.
