Can low iron supplements worsen work performance?

Hey ive been diagnosed with low iron around a month ago, I’ve been taking iron supplements once a day as suggested by the dr, I have had some time off work as it’s been affecting my ability to do my job, I felt as though I got to a point where I could return to work so I went back Monday and I was okay but come Tuesday I felt really wobbly, dizzy out of breath and just awful, it’s quite a physically demanding job where I’m up and down stairs, ladders, carrying heavy paint, using paint machines, its really affecting my mental health, I’m worried about my financial situation if I lose my job (my employer has mentioned it’s a possibility) I’m worried about my ability to return to work and how it’s affecting not only myself but everyone around me.

Answered on 23rd May '24

It seems like your persistent iron deficiency anemia is still troublesome. Low iron levels can cause symptoms like weakness, dizziness, and shortness of breath, especially during physical activities. This can affect your work and mental health. Please consult your doctor if symptoms continue, as there may be issues with iron absorption or another underlying condition.

Male | 24

Your symptoms are concerning. A fever lasting 4 months, joint pain, chest pain, and coughing up blood, are serious warning signs. These could indicate tuberculosis, pneumonia, or an autoimmune disease. It's important to see a doctor immediately. They will examine you, run tests to determine the cause and provide the necessary treatment.

If bitten by a squirrel or any animal, wash the wound gently and seek medical attention. A doctor will assess the risk of rabies and may recommend a rabies vaccine if necessary. Early intervention is crucial to prevent serious complications

I’m feeling not concentrated and focused, I’m forgetting things, I wake at midnight and will not sleep then, my saliva and my whole body taste salty and my mood changes a lot

Male | 29

This could be a hormonal problem or a lack of certain vitamins and minerals in your body. I would advise you to see a diabetes specialist or a dietician to discuss this topic. Furthermore, developing a healthy bedtime routine as well as avoiding screens before bed is one of the points to take into account.

My husband is an IV user and his left arm has a bunch of open sores and it's swollen and appears to be infected. 3 days ago he started to get b head aches but he refuses to see a doctor. Is there anything at home I can do for him

Male | 50

Your husband's arm is in a bad state. The open sores and swelling could be a sign of an infection. If he's also experiencing headaches, things could get worse. Infections can be spread quickly! At home, you can help by cleaning the sores gently with warm water and soap, then covering them with band-aids. But he should see a doctor as soon as possible because infections can be dangerous.

I am a 25 year old male and I have headache, sore throat, body pain and fever since yesterday. I have taken azinthromyacin antibiotics. But nothing yet. What could be the problem?

Male | 25

Based on what you have told me like a headache, a sore throat, muscle aches, and a fever it sounds like you might have flu, a viral infection. Antibiotics such as azithromycin won’t help because antibiotics kill bacteria not viruses; therefore they will do nothing for you if this is influenza. The only things to do for now are rest in bed all day with clear liquids (water) to drink while taking painkillers such as aspirin so that one can sleep comfortably through these unpleasant symptoms but should any of them become severe or last more than a week then please seek medical attention as soon as possible.

I ate the licked icecream of my friend who was bitten by cat 10 days ago and looks healthy and asymptomatic and my friend also got first vaccine dose, do i too need rabies vaccine or not

Male | 19

You've got no worries if your friend got scratched by a cat, is doing good, and has started the rabies vaccination process. The symptoms of rabies may not appear until a while after the infection, usually between 1 and 3 months. Since it's only been 10 days and your friend is doing well, you probably won't have to take the rabies vaccine. Still, be alert for any signs of illness such as fever, headache, and difficulties in swallowing.

I am skinny and the problem is weakness

Female | 40

Some possible culprits are not eating enough food, missing out on key nutrients, or being too active. To build up your strength, eat well-rounded meals that include fruits, vegetables, protein sources like meat or beans as well as whole grains such as brown rice or whole wheat bread. Try to do some light exercises too. If none of this works, talk with a doctor about it.

Hi my baby is having very high fever and severe cough for past 3 days, And then as per the pediatrician we have given few test like CBC, URINE ROUTINE, DENGUE, MALARIA, CRC test and then on seeing the report doctor says that nothing to worry. And then he started with antibiotics augmentin dds suspension , Lenovil and calpol for 5 days, and still fever was not reduced since 3 days over. And yesterday again I visisted the doctor and they said to give Anti-Flu syrup, if the temperature goes at 103 degree. I am so tensed and worried. My Doubt is we have to give anti-flu only if the temperature is at 103 or we can give now. I am more tensed and worried as she is 3 years old.

Female | 3

Follow the doctor's advice and administer the Anti-Flu syrup only if the temperature reaches 103 degrees. Inform your doctor if you find any othe symptoms and keep monitoring your baby's fever ensure they are well-hydrated.

Effect of high cholesterol in the body I am 21 I been having headaches for days now I not able to sleep at night and I I body pain My neck feels heavy and my back

Female | 21

High cholesterol can result in significant health problems, but it is first important to take heed of the beginning, any current symptoms you may have. Headaches, insomnia, and body pains may derive from stress, anxiety, or other things, apart from cholesterol alone. Try to change your lifestyle when doing the following: less junk food, a lot of exercise, fresh fruits and vegetables in the diet, and drinking more water.  However, in case of your constant discomfort, I advise you to see a doctor to get individualized recommendations.

Hi, I was prescribed azithromycin for an ear infection I had and took 500 MG on day one and then 250 MG per day for the next 4 days. If I were to also have chlamydia, would this dosage cure that as well?

Male | 22

Azithromycin belongs to the antibiotic category, is one of the drugs most frequently applied against various kinds of bacterial infections including chlamydia. But the amount and length of treatment may be different for each person and based on the severity of the illness and the individual factors. You should see a doctor to get yourself diagnosed and treated in the right way.

I am 32 years old taking combined oral contraceptive marvelon for 3 years to control periods. 4 weeks ago i complained of severe palpitations and breathlessness rushing me to ER. All tests there were normal. I developed severe sore throat 4 days after onset of palpitations. Till now i have alternating symptoms of sore throat versus palpitations and breathlessness. Thyroid tests cbc d dimer and ecg and echo all normal. Crp was 99 now its 15 and symptoms are intermittent in nature. What to do next

Female | 32

The normal initial tests and reduced CRP levels indicate progress. However, alternating symptoms suggest a possible viral infection. Consulting your doctor for further assessment could provide clarity.

From and up to what age is chickenpox healthy for children?

Female | 25

Chickenpox is generally more common in children and is often considered a childhood disease. It's most commonly seen in children aged 1 to 12 years. In many cases, getting chickenpox during childhood leads to immunity, meaning that a person is less likely to get it again later in life. However, chickenpox can affect individuals of any age, including adults.
