Hi I am Nehal. My brother is 48 years old and we are from Rajkot. He was not well for the last few weeks so we consulted with our family doctor. After a CT scan and a few other tests on Friday, he was diagnosed with a couple of specks on one lung. It's size is 3.9 cm and the biopsy report says it's cancerous. I am from Delhi. My father is 63 years old. We have suffered through the wrong treatment. In July, he was diagnosed with a spot in the right lung called a pulmonary nodule. And we were relieved to know that it was benign. Since mid-December, he has started falling ill several times and even lost appetite. Then two weeks back we asked for some tests again. We did a PET scan and some other tests and found that it is malignant and cancer has now spread across both lungs. We are all shattered by this news. I want to know if there are non-invasive treatment options for Lung Cancer? My father is 60 years old and was recently diagnosed with stage 2 Lung cancer.
Treatment for any cancer depends on the stage of cancer, age of patient, his general condition mainly. But mainly the treatment includes - Surgery. Surgeon removes affected part or sometimes a lobe or entire lung, depending on all the parameters of patient. Types of surgeries are- Wedge resection, Segmental resection, Lobectomy and Pneumonectomy. Doctors may also remove lymph nodes from chest to check for cancer. Doctor may suggest chemo or radiation therapy before surgery in order to shrink the cancer if it is a large. Also the same may be done in case recurrence is suspected. Radiation therapy It is also recommended in whom surgery is not recommended as the first line of treatment.. Chemotherapy Chemo along with adjuvant treatment to surgery also is given to relieve pain and other symptoms in advanced cancer. Radiosurgery Radiosurgery can be advised for people with small lung cancers who can't undergo surgery. It may be given in metastasis of cancer. Hello, I am 64 years now. I was diagnosed with throat cancer. It's been six months since I finished radiotherapy. But I'm still nauseous all of the time and can't eat or swallow anything. The discomfort in my mouth and throat, as well as the ulcers, are excruciating.
Radiation therapy in throat cancer is a very common treatment modality. It is associated with some side effects which reduce after a certain time period. Nausea, difficulty in swallowing, stomatitis and dryness of mouth are common side effects after Radiation therapy.
