What should we do if my fiance missed her period after unprotected intercourse 12 days ago?
My fiance and I had unprotected intercourse 12 days back her expected period date was 1 November according to last month but her periods didn't arrive yet so what should we do?
Gynecologist
Answered on 23rd May '24
It could be because of several factors that include stress, change in weight or hormonal disturbances if your fiancée has missed her menstrual cycle. But the main reason is pregnancy. A test should be conducted to determine whether she is pregnant or not. Further assessment and treatment should be discussed with a gynecologist.

I am an 18 year old female who had Unprotected sex on the 13th of October and took the morning after pill (Levonorgestrel) on on 14th of October. My last period was on the 17th of September until the 23rd of September I fear I might get pregnant.
Female | 18
The birth control pill is best if taken within three days of having unprotected sexual intercourse. The mechanism of action is to prevent the ovary from releasing an egg. Be mindful, though, the morning-after pill is not 100% effective. To be safe, you should look out for the signs like missed periods, nausea, or breast tenderness. If you get any of these symptoms, it's best to do a pregnancy test.

I am a 22 year old female, I started taking my birth control again and have been for a week now. I started my period after starting my birth control again. However, my period or whatever is happening has been occuring for almost 10 days now. The bleeding is very light with just two days of it being a medium flow. My breasts aren't tender, my acne is bad, my hair is a bit oily, I do feel gassy, my back hurts a bit and I feel mildly nauseous here and there.
Female | 22
It sounds more like your body is only getting used to birth control. It is quite common to have irregular bleeding when you start using birth control. Light bleeding, acne, oily hair, gas, back pain, and nausea are also possible side effects of the hormones in birth control. Allow some time to ensure the body gets used to the medicine. And if these symptoms persist or become stronger, please get in touch with your gynecologist for advice.

I didn't get my periods for 2 months. It happened before also, so I took the regestrone tablet, can I take it again?
Female | 22
Skipping periods for two months might seem normal, yet it signifies underlying issues. Stress, hormonal imbalances, or medical conditions could trigger this irregularity. Regestrone tablets may induce periods, but identifying the root cause is crucial. Consulting a gynecologist is wise, as they can diagnose and prescribe suitable treatment for regulating your menstrual cycle.

Late periods can feel worrying; they could mean pregnancy. You might feel nauseous, exhausted, or need the bathroom frequently. However, stress, routine changes also delay periods. Take a pregnancy test if you've missed; waiting a few days gives accurate results.

If there is bleeding for 1 week after taking the I pill ( contraceptive) and cramps for approximately 4-5 days, can it be pregnancy?
Female | Diksha Saxena
If you are bleeding after having taken an I pill (contraceptive) for a week with pains it could be that you are not pregnant yet or that it is due to something different. This discharge and pain may be a side effect of the pill or even a hormonal problem, but it might naively happen to be among the early symptoms of pregnancy. If you are worried, the best way to keep track of your symptoms and to see your gynecologist is to see them.

Hi there, I'm a 27 year old woman, and I've been experiencing an unusual change in my menstrual cycle recently. Instead of the usual one period per month, I've been having 3 periods in a month. It's been a bit concerning, and I was wondering if anyone else has gone through something similar or if there's any insight into what might be causing this. I'm hoping to find some advice or information on how to address this issue.
Female | 27
Frequent periods can be due to various factors like hormonal changes, stress, or certain health conditions. Treatments depend on the cause and may include hormonal birth control or hormone-regulating medication. Please consult a gynecologist for personalized advice.

I'm a 26 year old female. I started having a terrible yeast infection in 2 months ago. Since then, I had increased smelly discharge. I recently just had too much water coming out of my vagina. What could be the problem
Female | 26
You might have bacterial vaginosis. This is a common issue that can cause a smelly discharge and also too much water to come from your vagina. The symptoms may also be itching and irritation. Bacterial vaginosis is a result of the imbalance of good and bad bacteria in your vagina. Visit a gynecologist who can give you antibiotics to clear the infection.

I used an emergency contraception about a month and a half ago, and found my self in a situation where I need to use one again now. In February I had a miscarriage and I’m just wondering how many times I can use emergency contraception, and if it’s okay to even after having a miscarriage. I have used probably about 6 in my life. Is there a limit to how many a woman can take? Will it affect my gynecological health?
Female | 21
Emergency contraception is intended for occasional and emergency use, not as a regular form of birth control. While there is no strict limit on how many times emergency contraception can be used, it's important to understand that it is not as effective or reliable as regular contraception methods.
Repeated use of emergency pills can disrupt hormonal balance in your body and cause irregularities in your menstrual cycle. It's recommended to speak personally with a gynec about more reliable and appropriate forms of contraception that can better suit your needs and provide ongoing protection.

I am 25 days late on my period and had period-like pain last week and spotting which has since gone away. I was meant to menstruate on 1 August at had intercourse on 21 and 20 July. I took 4 pregnancy tests. 1 Dischem, 1, which was negative, and 3 Clear Blue, one Digital one and two others, I think one early detection and another type. All were negative. But I'm still late. Do you have pills to induce period?
Female | 30
It is common for women to have a late period at some point. Stress, weight fluctuations, or hormonal disorders can be the reasons for this. It's good to know that you have already had pregnancy tests. The chance of being pregnant is low if all are negative. You can try to manage stress, eat healthy, stay active, and get enough sleep. If your period still doesn't come, it's best to consult a gynecologist to know the exact cause of the problem.

I've had my period for 15 days now and it's just light bleeding.
Female | 25
It is also not unusual for the menstrual flow to last longer than the usual 3-7 days, and if it goes on for 15 days, it may mean there is something wrong with you. It is advisable to set an appointment with a gynecologist who will examine your situation and suggest effective treatment.

Hello I was recently diagnosed with PCOS/amenorrhea from my ultrasound. I am also overweight. They have prescribed be 5 days of provera and 3 months worth of drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol tablets (birth control) to help me menstruate again. My family does not want me to take medication or birth control again because of the side affects it has and the hormonal changes it has to my body Are those two medications the only way solution for me?
Female | 25
PCOS impacts periods, weight, and fertility. You skip periods in amenorrhea. Medications regulate your cycle. Nutritious food and workouts help symptoms. Discuss concerns with your gynecologist and derive a treatment plan.

Period pain comes when muscles in the uterus tighten, causing cramps. Your doctor prescribed Meftal Spas because it can help relax muscles, reducing discomfort. Take Meftal Spas exactly as your doctor instructs for severe menstrual cramps. Don't hesitate to contact your gynecologist if you have concerns or experience side effects.
