What's the treatment for keratoconus

Treatment for keratoconus depends upon the severity of your ailment and its progression. Usually, two approaches are deployed to handle keratoconus: slowing down the progression and increasing your vision.
If your keratoconus is mild or moderate, then depending on the extent of distortion and blurriness you experience, only lenses will be enough for managing your ailment:
- Hard contact lenses: Lenses that are rigid and don't change shape, they can accommodate your cornea.
- Soft contact lenses: Lenses that adjust according to your cornea in early stages.
- Hybrid contact lenses: Lenses with rigid center and soft outter rings.
- Piggyback lenses: hard lenses on top of soft, if rigid ones are too uncomfortable but if the shape of your cornea is progressively changing.
- Scleral lenses: unlike other lenses, they rest on the white part, so they spread over cornea without even touching it.
You can also go for corneal collagen cross-linking therapy, if your condition is progressively getting worse, and after that continue to wear lenses so as to manage this disease.
It prevents further change in corneal shape by saturating cornea with riboflavin eyedrops and treating it with ultraviolet light.
If your condition has become extreme, then cornea transplant surgery will be the final resort.
It can result in complications such as graft rejection, degenerated vision, infection and astigmatism. Astigmatism can be managed by wearing hard contact lenses however.

I am staying in hostel. My warden have conjunctivitis now.I have red eyes after sleeping only is it conjunctivitis
Female | 18
The symptoms which you are experiencing could be conjunctivitis which in layman’s terms is referred to as pink eye. Conjunctivitis indicates the inflammation of the conjunctiva, the thin, transparent layer surrounding the white area of the eye. In my opinion, you have to consult an ophthalmologist.

Hello! I am an almost 30 year old female and for the past week I have trouble looking/focusing far away or when looking upwards. I always get dizzy and have the constant feeling that me eyes and their surrounding area have become more heavy, out of the sudden, and push my eyes downwards. I dont see blury or have double vision, I just refrain from looking upwards of faw away because I feel instantly dizzy. No medical history, no drugs. Can you please give me an insight as to what is happening;
Female | 30
Vertical heterophoria might be the reason for your dizziness and the heavy feeling around your eyes. It’s a misalignment issue that doesn’t cause blurred or double vision. To fix it, visit an eye doctor who can provide you with special prism eyeglasses. These glasses realign your eyes and relieve the symptoms.

I had an accident a month ago in which I had a bone fracture on the left side face. The reports are mainly traumatic nerve neuropathy and now my left side eye is not visible and I do not have any symptoms like vomiting, headaches, or pain in my left side eye. is there any chance of recovering my vision back?
Male | 24
A bone fracture on the left side of the face can seriously affect the vision of the eye. The traumatic nerve neuropathy may have caused damage to the optic nerve, which could be causing the loss of vision. Talk to an ophthalmologist after evaluating the condition only it will be possible say anything about treatment options to regain your vision.

In last 2 days I noticed a mini dark spot in my left eye sclera area connect red eye rays its like sting or like something in my eye main problem is its feels when I close the eye or blink the eye How can I get out of it, any solution i got to know from Google it's called axenfeld loop its irritating for me please give me advice
Male | 19
Axenfeld loop is when there is a tiny dark spot on the white part of your eye, and it can be like having something in your eye. Besides this, other factors such as eye strain or irritation could also be sources of this. To cope with the discomfort, artificial tears can be applied to your eyes. Don't rub your eyes. If the symptoms are still there or worsen, it's better to go to an eye doctor for further examination and treatment.

hi. I have a question if there is any treatment for eye stroke. This happened on 11/12/2023. Now they have regained their vision, but not completely, but especially in the middle of the eye, and I have a report and pictures of the eye. Thank you very much.
Male | 48
Eye strokes occur when blood vessels supplying the eye get blocked. Vision loss is the result. Regaining some sight is positive progress, good news indeed. To potentially improve vision further, an eye specialist appointment seems wise. They can suggest treatments, like eye exercises or medicine, that might help restore more eyesight. Diligent follow-up care with the eye doctor becomes crucial moving forward.

Doctor, I am 18 year old male, having problem in eye of change in it's power to -0.25D. I wear glasses too.I am also eye exercises and routines which can bring my eye power to normal.I am asking how much time should mobile screen to be limited per day to keep my eye safe on the above report?
Male | 18
Your eyesight has changed a bit with a measurement of -0.25D. This might make your vision less clear and give you sore eyes or a headache. If you spend lots of time looking at screens (like phones), these symptoms could get worse than they already are. To protect your sight, attempt to keep screen use down to 2 hours everyday maximum and take breaks every 20 minutes or so where you focus on something in the distance. You should still wear your glasses as directed by the optician as well.

My problem is I have eye pain for months and also severe headache few days ago I was vomiting and my eye power also changes a lot now my doctor told me to not wear glasses anymore and few months ago doctor also ask me my pressure is high if its gets more high I may get glaucoma
Male | 22
Severe headaches, vomiting, eye pain, and vision changes sound like trouble. Could mean glaucoma, an issue when pressure builds inside your eyes. Untreated, this can damage sight. Don't wait—see an eye doctor immediately. They'll provide treatment to safeguard your vision.

8 years old kid is having cataracts 60%+ . Kindly suggest best lens for kids, And the best Doctor for kids eye surgery . Is surgery only option to cure this or any medication can cure this disease ?
Male | 9
Surgery is the best choice for children facing the problem of cataracts. For the best vision in kids with cataracts intraocular lens (IOL) is recommended, as it offers the most customizable solution based on a particular case. Consulting an eye specialist is the key to exact diagnosis and effective treatment. Medication can't be a remedy for cataracts; surgery is mainly needed to have the eye lens with cloudy removed and vision restored.

I am a 28 year old male. I was using my phone and my phone fell off under my eyes....and blood came out.....there is only little wound....blood came....and there is pain in one side of the face.....phone edge got contact with the under eye....what to do for this situation??? Can you recommend anything for not having any scar.....is this issue critical? Can you please tell me???
Male | 28
Blood and pain are the normal things you experience when your skin gets damaged. The area under your eye can be cleared by softly rinsing it with water and then taping a piece of Band-Aid on it. You can gently put a thin layer of antibiotic ointment around the scar with the hope that it will not scar. Identify the issue and if it doesn't heal or you see any signs of infection like swelling, heat, or pus, it is good to see an eye specialist.

Such as drepaid drop, mycin drop etc. After doing these the eyes were improving. Suddenly one day after sleeping at night I woke up in the morning. I see blurry eyes. Very blurry. And there are some white spots inside the eyes. What is the problem and treatment?
Male | 26
You may be having a problem called corneal ulcer. This may be the case if there is an infection or an injury of the cornea, which is the outermost layer of the eye and is transparent. Blurry vision and white spots are the typical symptoms. It's important to see your eye doctor for proper treatment, which may include antibiotics or other medications.

i am 23 year old and my eye turned red yesterday and it is itching too
Male | 23
Pink eye, also known as conjunctivitis, may be causing your eye issue. Redness and itchiness are symptoms of this condition. A viral or bacterial infection likely triggers it. Applying cool compresses to your eye can provide relief. Avoid touching or rubbing the affected area. Over-the-counter eye drops may also help alleviate discomfort. Frequent handwashing is crucial to prevent spreading the infection to others.

Eye twitches can happen for different reasons. Stress, fatigue, and too much caffeine can cause this issue. To find relief, try relaxing, getting proper sleep, and limiting caffeine intake. Additionally, eye strain may contribute to twitching. Taking breaks from screens and using warm compresses could help.
