Why does ac joint hurt?

1 Answer

Answered on 23rd May '24

Here are many things that can happen to the AC joint, but the most common conditions are arthritis, fractures and separations. Arthritis is a condition characterized by loss of cartilage in the joint, which is essentially wear and tear of the smooth cartilage that allows the bones to move smoothly. Like arthritis at other joints in the body, it is characterized by pain and swelling, especially with activity. Over time, the joint can wear out and get larger, with spurs forming around it. These spurs are a sign of the arthritis and not a cause of the pain. Reaching across the body toward the other arm aggravates arthritis at the AC joint. AC joint wear and tear is common in weight lifters, especially among those who bench press and to a lesser extent, military press. In weight lifters the arthritis at the AC joint has a special name — osteolysis.

I have congenital problem of hypoplasia of both lower limbs to deformity of axle foot with locomotor disability of 65 %. Need recovery treatment by completely

Female | 22

Your legs did not develop properly at birth, which has caused your feet to form abnormally and made it difficult for you to move. Treatments like therapy, braces, or surgery could help improve your condition. These treatments may help you walk better and feel more comfortable. Because your limbs do not fully form, your feet are bent, and movement and balance are difficult. However, with the right therapy, braces, or surgery, your mobility and balance might improve based on your specific case. While this issue has made movement challenging, it does not mean you are helpless.

Hi I'm a 16 yo male and I have poor posture, I used to think that I have minor kyphosis , forward neck , rounded shoulders with scapular winging for which I had consulted a orthopedic doctor he told me to do spine and chest xray, After looking at the xray he told me that my posture is not seen as a deformity and it will cause no problems THE FINDINGS IN MY XRAY REPORT ARE ~Xray report of lumbo sacral spine (ap+lat) • sacralization of lumbar vertebra noted • straightening of lumbar curvature noted • reduced disc space noted between lumbar vertebrae ~Xray report of cervical spine (ap+lat) •Mild straightening of cervical curvature noted •bilateral cervical ribs noted •impression - cervical spondylosis ..........but I think due to my posture I get injuries while heavy workout and few months before I got injured while doing wide arm push up. The injury resulted in pain in shoulders for 3 days and a lower soilder for days until I watched a video on YT how to stretch to fix it.......how ever it was gone and now Im left with uneven collar bones at the chest due to which the mobility is different in both hands. How should I resume physical activities 4 months after Achilles tendon surgery

Male | 41

After 4 months of Achilles tendon surgery, you can return to physical activities only with the consent of your orthopedic surgeon. You might have to begin with mild exercises and slowly intensify your exercise. Wear appropriate shoes, and always warm up before the exercise. A physiotherapist should be consulted for a smooth and successful recovery.

I fell on my wrist 6 months ago and still have pain when I put pressure on it and after physical activity, the pain is located on the pinky side of the hand and there is a clicking noise when I twist my wrist.

Female | 24

Considering your symptoms, you may have a wrist sprain or ligament injury. It is recommended to see an Orthopedic doctor in order to get a correct diagnosis and treatment. The specialist will conduct a physical examination and may suggest imaging tests to establish the severity of injury. Procrastination in treatment can cause chronic problems.

Hello. I recently discovered that when I pour warm water on my thumb it starts to hurt and the pain goes thru the whole arm. It only happens when water is poured on it but when I am not showering or washing my hands my arm feels fine.

Male | 16

Hey, Welcome to ClinicSpots. We're here to help you with your health concerns.

Your pain when warm water touches your thumb, radiating through your arm, might be related to nerve sensitivity or an underlying condition like neuropathy. The warmth could be triggering nerve endings, causing the pain to spread. It’s also possible that a minor injury or inflammation is reacting to the temperature change.

Next Steps to Follow

-Avoid Warm Water: Temporarily avoid exposing your thumb to warm water to prevent discomfort.

-Monitor Symptoms: Keep an eye on additional symptoms such as swelling, numbness, or changes in skin color.

-Consult a Healthcare Professional: Schedule an appointment with a doctor, preferably a neurologist or an orthopedic specialist, for a thorough evaluation. Diagnostic tests like nerve conduction studies or imaging might be needed.

-Detailed Examination: The doctor will perform a physical examination and take a medical history to diagnose the issue accurately. They might suggest treatments such as physical therapy, medications, or further tests based on their findings.

Health Tip

Consider gentle health exercises to maintain flexibility and reduce nerve sensitivity. Ensuring good hand ergonomics and avoiding repetitive strain can also help prevent discomfort.
