Why Missed Periods While Unmarried?
I missed my periods and I am unmarried

Gynecologist/Obstetrician
Answered on 26th Mar '25
Missing a menstrual cycle can occur due to various factors, such as stress, hormonal changes, excessive exercise, or significant weight fluctuations. It's essential to monitor any accompanying symptoms, like mood changes or physical discomfort. While this can sometimes be a normal occurrence, I recommend seeing a gynecologist for proper evaluation and to discuss your health history. They can provide personalized guidance and reassurance, helping to identify the underlying cause of your missed cycle.

Hello, my wife's gyno has suggested stretching her vagina in prep for labour and will over see it by appointments every 2 weeks. Is this normal?
Female | 34
It is normal for some women who are about to give birth and need vaginal stretching first. This is what is known as a perineal massage. It has the advantages of preventing tears during delivery and increasing elasticity. Symptoms like tightness can make labor harder. The stretching is the work of a gynecologist who ensures it is done safely. A technique like this can lead to a more seamless experience of childbirth; thus, it is a common practice.

My partner and I did something on 1 week of April and I still got my period on April 15. Now, my partner and i didn't have sex but I still got no period this time. please help me on this, thank you for answering.
Female | 19
Missed periods, bloating, lower stomach pain, and spotting are all signs of hormone imbalance which can be caused by stress among other things like pregnancy etc. The exercise activity from April’s first week might have affected your cycle. Monitor these symptoms plus your menstrual cycle for the next couple of weeks. If they worsen, see a gynecologist who will give you further instructions on what steps to be taken.

My vagina have outside labia, feel gland inside my vagina or I can easily put 3 fingers in it can uh tell that my hymen is broke or not?
Female | 17
This might indicate you are having worries about your hymen. The hymen is regarded as a thin tissue that may partially block the entrance to the vagina. It could get broken or stretched for physical reasons, such as involvement in physical activity, using tampons, or having sexual intercourse. If you can put three fingers inside your vagina comfortably, the chances are high that your hymen has been enlarged or torn. More often than not, it is not a major problem, and it does not have to be because of something that went wrong. If you are having any problems with your vaginal health or if you want to talk about this issue more, you should consult a gynecologist.

Hi - I am currently pregnant and need a clarity on my conception date. To give a bit of background- I was on combined contraceptive pills (Ovranette) until 9th of March, when I came off it after finishing a pill pack. I got my withdrawal bleeding on 12th March(which I consider as the first day of myLMP) I tested positive for pregnancy on 11th April when my periods didn’t arrive. I had two ultrasound scan so far - one on 2nd May when the gestation age was measured as 7 weeks 2 days as per ultrasound and the second one on 9th May when the gestation age was measured as 8 weeks 2 days as per ultrasound. Since I conceived the next month after coming off pill, I need some clarity on when did the conception happen. I had 2 times sexual intercourse during this time - one on 12th March (couple of hours before commencing my withdrawal bleeding) and the next one on 23rd March - would like to know which intercourse has resulted in the pregnancy
Female | 32
According to what you’ve said it’s more likely that the sexual intercourse on 23rd March caused your pregnancy. Typically, a pregnancy test becomes positive about 4 weeks after conception which matches the dates. Having taken the pill, you can easily mistake withdrawal bleeding for your normal period. Some symptoms such as positive pregnancy tests and ultrasound findings indicate that it happened after 12th March. The best thing to do now is keep seeing a gynecologist.

Am having little bleeding like spotting on my 30 &31 st day. Usually i will get a good blood flow on my periods but this time too little. Should I test for pregnancy?
Female | 29
Spotting on days 30 and 31 of your cycle can occur for various reasons, such as hormonal fluctuations, stress, or even the onset of menstruation. Since you typically experience a heavier flow, it’s reasonable to consider taking a pregnancy test, especially if you've had unprotected intercourse. This will help clarify your situation. Regardless of the result, if your bleeding concerns you or continues, please consult a gynecologist for personalized advice and guidance. They can provide reassurance and any necessary evaluations to ensure your health is prioritized.

I am 19 years old. My pregnancy test got fade test line and I'm not sure if it's positive or not. I tested after 10-15 days of intercourse. If this is positive, I want to quit this pregnancy as soon as possible. Please help me find a way for it.
Female | 19
If you see a faint line on a pregnancy test, it could mean you are pregnant. Some signs of pregnancy are gone periods, sick feelings, and sensitive breasts. Pregnancy occurs when a man's sperm fertilizes a woman's egg. If you want to stop the pregnancy, you can talk to a doctor about options like a procedure or medication. Consult with a gynecologist to evaluate the most suitable alternative for you.

I’m ovlating on the depo injection we are wanting to try for a baby and too
Female | 36
While the Depo-Provera injection can influence your menstrual cycle, some may still experience ovulation. Look for signs like changes in cervical mucus, mild pelvic discomfort, or breast tenderness. If you're trying to conceive, continue having regular intercourse. It’s also beneficial to track your cycle. Consulting your gynecologist can provide personalized guidance and help monitor your reproductive health.

I had sperm on my hand then I washed my hand using soap and water. Then me and my partner went out for about 2 hours we eat foods touch several things. Then I returned to home, washed my hand about thrice with handwash and water thoroughly. Then after drying my hands I fingered my self. Is there any chances of pregnancy by this activity? There was no sperm in my hand at that time and I washed my hands about 5 times. please reply doctor.
Female | 22
I would say that the possibility of pregnancy at these times is very rare. You will reduce the likely remainder of sperm by just washing your hands properly with soap at least a couple of times. It is always advised to visit your gynecologist if you experience any worries or confusion related to the pregnancy.

I had protected sex and my period is delayed and later seeing light bleeding
Female | 17
There can be several factors if you are experiencing a delayed period followed by light bleeding like stress, hormonal changes, contraceptive use, and the possibility of pregnancy. While protected sex reduces the risk of pregnancy, no method is entirely foolproof. If you are concerned about pregnancy confirm by taking a home pregnancy test.

After sex Took pills Then get period After a month missed it
Female | 17
After having sex, taking certain capsules can sometimes alter your menstrual cycle. It's common to have a period after taking these tablets. Occasionally, the hormonal imbalance caused by these pills can lead to missed periods a month later. Symptoms may include irregular bleeding and the absence of a normal period. To manage this, avoid stress as it can affect your menstrual cycle. If the issue persists, seek advice from a gynecologist for proper guidance.

Hello sir/maam I'm married I had miscarriage of 6 weeks after that I did torch test in that I got cmv igg postive and hsv igg and igm positive what does it mean??
Female | 26
These results point that CMV antibodies, HSV IgG, and HSV IgM are positive. CMV and HSV are viruses that cause infections, the main reason for illness. IgG signifies a former infection, while IgM evidences a recent one. In the case of CMV, the symptoms might not occur, but it may come with flu-like issues and may also cause the baby to be born with it during the pregnancy. In the case of HSV, the symptoms can include blisters or sores of the mouth and the genitals. It is important to get medical advice from a gynecologist for confirmation of the disease and treatment options.

Am 21years old and I had unprotected sex yesterday night, I was treating PID which ended on the day before yesterday morning. My partner didn't treat infection Pls what do I do .
Female | 21years
Unprotected intercourse, especially after treating pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), can pose risks for reinfection or transmitting any infections. Watch for symptoms such as unusual discharge, fever, pelvic pain, or discomfort during intercourse. The best course of action is to schedule a visit with a gynecologist who can assess your situation, conduct necessary tests, and potentially prescribe treatment if needed. Ensure your partner seeks medical attention too, as untreated infections can lead to serious complications.

Hello i am a 21 year old female and i urinate every 5 Minutes with a discomfort feeling of pain and swelling below my belly close to my Virginia i have been experiencing this for 3 weeks now . I wake up every morning nauseous and light headed with an increase of appetite but due to the nauseous feeling on my stomach i struggle to eat.
Female | 21
Frequent urination, discomfort in the lower abdomen, and nausea can indicate several issues, such as a urinary tract infection or bladder irritation. The lightheadedness and changes in appetite may be related to these symptoms as well. It’s important to stay hydrated and consider small, nourishing meals if eating is difficult. However, given the persistence of your symptoms for three weeks, I strongly encourage you to consult a gynecologist for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Can I conceive at the age of 43
Female | 43
Getting pregnant at 43 might require some effort, but isn't impossible. Fertility decreases with age, so conceiving gets harder. Irregular periods or hot flashes could signal fertility changes. This happens because egg quantity and quality decline over time. Fertility treatments like IVF might help boost the chances of pregnancy. Consulting a fertility specialist can provide further guidance on available options.
