My family member suffering from a Left Insular lesion Diffuse Astrocytoma (WHO grade), a Brain tumor. Brain surgery is done 3 months back. At AIIMS Jodhpur. Recent after MRI reports, Doctors advised for Radiotherapy May you please suggest/guide me for the best treatment or radiotherapy center in India. In addition, Immunotherapy/dendritic cell therepy is better compare to radiotherapy & chemo. Which are the best/top hospitals (Govt./Private) in India? What is the cost of Radio/Immunotherapy?
- Some types of brain tumors grow at a greater speed while others grow slowly. Depending on all the factors, your brain tumor treatment will be recommended by the doctor. Since the surgery has already been already done, therefore the standard treatment could be radiotherapy with the tamazolamide tablet.
- Dendritic cell-based immunotherapy is an approach where the patient's immune system is boosted to fight cancer. It is a very expensive treatment and approved for stage 4 only. You cannot compare the treatments as for different cancer types and stages, different treatments have been set according to the international standards. Who qualifies for immunotherapy is someone whose cancer is in stage 4, and that too as a last resort if other treatments didn't work.
- The radiotherapy cost (SRS) ranges from about 4,00,000 to 5,00,000 and the immunotherapy cost is approximately 4,00,000.

Hello, my father age 64 has a tumor under his tongue measuring 0.4CM. In the report, it is described as moderate. we are looking for a treatment with the minimum side effects as possible, please suggest us best treatment and a hospital.
Hi Prakash, Since the tumor size is 0.4cm, the best tumor treatment with minimum side effects, is surgery. Sometimes, radiation is followed in order to prevent a recurrence. Anyway, we suggest that you quickly consult the doctor as further treatment will be suggested by your doctor. You will not require immunotherapy as it is provided in the 4th stage of cancer only.

My father has bladder cancer, urothilial carcinoma high-grade, muscle invasive (2nd stage). Kindly suggest proper treatment process and immunotherapy needs.
Hello Nihar, Generally, the first-line treatment that is used to treat urothelial carcinoma stage II cancer is surgery. Mostly, the standard treatment for urothelial carcinoma stage II is radical cystectomy. If your father has cancer in only one part of the bladder, then a partial cystectomy may be performed. But this is possible in a very small number of people. A TURBT (Transurethral resection) may be still done which helps a doctor to know the extent of cancer. This is done in order to remove any type of abnormal tissue or tumor. For the people, who are not healthy enough to get chemotherapy, a radical cystectomy may be the only treatment. But many doctors prefer to give chemotherapy before surgery as it gives better results. If the chemotherapy is given first, then the surgery will be delayed. For the patients who are not able to have surgery because of serious health issues, TURBT, chemotherapy, radiation or some combination of these treatments may be given. Since your father has stage II cancer, immunotherapy is not the treatment option as it is given only in IV stage. Hope this answer helps you. Hello, my mother had been operated 1.5 years before for duodenal cancer. Now she had recurrence on same place. Please suggest me the therapy for her. Her age is 69 years old.
Hello, The treatment options for duodenal cancer include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, Immunotherapy, active surveillance and watchful waiting and palliative care.
- Generally, recurrence after curative surgery is distant metastasis especially the liver.
- Treatments for recurrent disease suggested by few studies are systemic chemotherapy, concurrent chemo-radiation therapy, and cryotherapy for metastatic liver tumour.
- The best line of treatment can be planned only on evaluating and accessing the stage of cancer.
You should consult an experienced oncosurgeon to go ahead with the treatment. Wish you mother a speedy recovery. Hope our answer helps you. Refer our page if you want help searching for the experts - Surgical Oncologists in India.

Hi, my mother has been diagnosed with Stage IV Metastasis cancer. She can survive for a 1-year max as said by the doctor. Currently she is undergoing 10 dosage of radiation therapy of which 8 has been completed. Doctor consult us next treatment will be chemotherapy & if it doesn't work then they will suggest for immunotherapy. Please let me know on below queries- 1) Can Immunotherapy be taken as 1st level of treatment post-radiation? 2) Which is the hospital that gives the best immunotherapy treatment in India? 3) How many cycles & which will be the immunotherapy drug according to stage IV & how much approx cost per dose?
Hello, For recovery from any type of cancer the overall condition of the patient, his/her age, type of cancer, stage of cancer and associated comorbidities are all that matter. As such, stage 4 means the cancer is metastasized which means poor prognosis. But she has been treated meticulously. Immunotherapy has promising results and only a few types are FDA approved. Some immune checkpoint inhibitors are approved for specific cancer but some are used to treat tumors anywhere in the body mainly by concentrating on a specific genetic change. Pembrolizumab has been approved by the FDA to treat metastatic tumors or tumors that cannot be treated with surgery. As you have not mentioned about the site of cancer it is a little difficult to brief you about the drugs which will be used in your mother's case. Kindly consult an oncologist for the choice of drug for immunotherapy and also after clinically assessing the case he will be in a better position to opine on the number of cycles that the therapy will require. Immunotherapy is considered post other therapies but it is your doctor's decision. Also, the approx cost of one session ranges from Rs. 1, 00, 000 to Rs. 1, 30, 000, further depending on the weight the cost may increase. One session of immunotherapy lasts for 21 days. We wish your mother a speedy recovery. Hope our answer helps you. We have prepared the following listicle to help you out - Immunotherapy hospitals in India. Hi, my relative has ovarian cancer that has spread to the stomach. May we know treatment options?
Hello, The treatment for ovarian cancer may consist of different modalities like surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hormone therapy, or targeted therapy. Normally, combination therapy is used depending upon the stage of cancer. The first step in treating most stages of ovarian cancer is surgery to remove and stage cancer. Debulking is also done accordingly. When the tumor spreads to abdomen, chemo and targeted drug therapy may be considered. Once this is done blood tests, checking for the CA-125 tumor marker are advised to analyze the outcome of treatment how well the treatment is working. A CT scan, PET-CT scan, or MRI might also be done if needed, for same you can refer our list - PET Scan in Mumbai. Hello, I have a few questions as follows: 1. Which is the best treatment for Lymphoma cancer with stage 2? 2. Can Immunotherapy alone can cure my cancer completely? 3. What will be the side effects of Immunotherapy? 4. How do the blood tests help in monitoring the cancer progress? 5. Which treatment has a speedy recovery while comparing immunotherapy Vs chemotherapy or radiotherapy?
As per my understanding you want to know about the best therapy for lymphoma stage 2. Treatment and Prognosis of a cancer depends on many factors, which include the type of cancer, its stage and the age and general condition of the individual. The treatment for stage 2 lymphoma depends on the type of lymphoma, medical history of patient, and others. Line of treatment is mainly chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and stem cell therapy. Any modality of treatment depends upon the condition of patient, his age, type and stage of cancer. Treatment is stage wise. Immunotherapy is newer treatment and side effects may be mild to severe like skin reactions, flu-like symptoms, body ache, diarrhea, headaches etc. Regarding blood test ,most of the investigations are on similar pattern which are use to diagnose the disease with few variations. But choice of treatment depends on the clinician's decision and as per the response of patient. Consult an oncologist - Best Oncologist In India. Hope our answer helps you.

Hi, I have a doubt, is there any specific reason for which immunotherapy is not recommended in the early stages of any cancer?
Chemotherapy works by stopping or blocking cancer cells from growing and immunotherapy works by boosting up a patient's immune system to find and then attack cancer. Though immunotherapy is gaining popularity but still it is in growing stage.
Chemotherapies have been key to cancer treatment from a very long time with all established and compiled data regarding the effects and side effects thus making doctors more confident about it in comparison to immunotherapy which is still newer. But gradually it is proving itself in some cancers as preferred line of treatment. Consult an oncologist for clear understanding.
Hope our answer helps you.
